PALESTINIAN RESISTANCE 2

ISLAMIC RESISTANCE MOVEMENT

PALESTINE LIBERATION ARMY (PLA) was established as the official military branch of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in 1964.

PALESTINIAN RESISTANCE

Arafat was elected president of the Palestinian Authority (PA) with an overwhelming 88.2 % majority. Arafat accepted the UN Security Council Resolution 242, promised future recognition of Israel and renounced “terrorism” in all its forms, including state terrorism. (SEE TAQIYYA BELOW)

Arafat statement was encouraged by the US administration, which insisted on recognition of Israel as a necessary starting point in the Camp David peace negotiations.

Arafat statement indicated a shift from one PLO primary aims (the destruction of Israel) towards the establishment of two separate entities, an Israeli State within the 1949 armistice lines and a Palestinian State in the West bank and Gaza Strip. Barak offered Arafat a Palestinian State in parts of the West Bank and all of the Gaza Strip with an outlying suburb of Jerusalem as its capital.

PALESTINIANS AND JEWISH HISTORY
HAMAS SOLDIERS

Yet, Arafat was influenced by the rise of HAMAS and the Palestinian Jihad organizations, which were employing new tactics such as “martyrdom operations” (also known as suicide bombing). Israel was hit with opposition from grass roots Palestinians who unable to do anything so they reverted to suicide bombing.

As is, HAMAS stands accused of using schools and hospitals to hide weapons, effectively using civilians as human shields. This is a war crime, but so is bombing targets in the knowledge that civilians will be killed. Consequently, every step that the Israelis take to try to eliminate the rockets and the militants that plague them bears a cost.

And herein lies the ultimate logic of Israeli strategy. In their use of force they are sending the message not only to HAMAS but also to international mediators that left to their own devices they will continue to use force until the rockets stop.

PALESTINIAN RESISTANCE TAQIYYA

Muslims are allowed by taqiyya to lie about their religious beliefs when this will support the advancement of Islam. Nonie Darwish, in The Devil We Don’t Know, describes how Islamic Sharia law incorporates taqiyya: “Sharia itself allows lies not only with infidels, but also to solve disputes among Muslims and in the wife/husband relationship, thereby covering practically all relationships. The individual Muslim is taught that protection of Islam is a sacred communal obligation that is more important than family, life, or happiness.” So who are we to believe? Sharia law itself allows lies with infidels. Continue reading PALESTINIAN RESISTANCE 2

SIX PATHS TO GOD 2

PATH TO GODSO HOW DO I FIND GOD?

Some books assume you already believe in God, that you have already found God, which is not always the case. Let’s look at the various ways people seek God through six broad paths.

THE PATH OF BELIEF

For people on this first path, belief in God has always been part of their lives. They were born into religious families or were introduced to religion at an early age. Their Christian faith also holds out the promise of life beyond this earthly one.

PATH TO GOD

Ultimately, faith is a gift from God. But faith isn’t something that you just have. Perhaps a better metaphor is that faith is like a garden: while you may already have the basics— soil, seeds, water—you have to cultivate and nourish it. Like a garden, faith takes patience, persistence, and even work.

One pitfall for those on the path of belief is an inability to understand people on other Paths. Their arrogance turns them into the “frozen chosen,” consciously or unconsciously excluding others from their cozy, believing world. This is the crabbed, joyless, and ungenerous religiosity that Jesus spoke against: spiritual blindness.

These people often expect the religious instruction they had in grammar school to sustain them in the adult world. An adult life requires an adult faith.

THE PATH OF INDEPENDENCE

PATH TO GOD

Those on the path of independence have made a conscious decision to separate themselves from organized religion, but they still believe in God. Maybe they find church services meaningless, offensive, dull, or all three. Maybe they’ve been hurt by a church.

Maybe they’ve been insulted (or abused) by a priest, pastor, rabbi, minister, or imam. Or they feel offended by certain dogmas of organized religion. Or they find religious leaders hypocritical. Or maybe they’re just bored.

Christians may be turned off by the church’s teachings on a particular moral question like birth control, or by the scandal of clergy sex abuse. They are sometimes called “lapsed,” “fallen away” or “recovering” Christians

Though they keep their distance from churches, synagogues, or mosques, many people in this group are still firm believers. Often they find solace in the religious practices that they learned as children.

THE PATH OF DISBELIEF

PRIESTS HAVE HEALING POWERS 2

PRIESTS HEALING

All ministers, priests or religious have healing powers. Most don’t have the faith that is needed to use it. There are  two provisos: our saintly priest or religious must be born again and he must be following Jesus’ Great Commission:  (Jesus) said to them, “Go into all the world … In My name they will drive out demons; … they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”                                                                                                                                       Mark 16:15,17,18

“As you sent Me into the world, I have sent them into the world.”                                                                                                                                  John 17:18

“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”                                                                                                  1 Corinthians 12:27

Each part of the body performs it own distinct function, which makes it indispensable and wholly dependent on every other part. In the same way, the whole ministry of the Church is only the sum total of all its members. The clergy have a special role of leadership, but other believers are equally joined in the Church. This interdependence means that we need to be sensitive to part which each one of us has to play. That means that you will not be only doing your own thing.

“All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and He distributes them to each one, just as He determines.” 1 Corinthians 12:11

PRIESTS HEALING

Healing was essential to the ministry of Jesus because healing offered indisputable evidence that He is the Christ of God: ”Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples … these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.”                                                                                                                                         John 21:30-31

DOES JESUS STILL PERFORM MIRACLES TODAY?
