The call of the gospel is a HOLY CALL.
This is said to be given us before the world began, that is, in the purpose of God from all eternity: “He has saved us and called us to a HOLY CALL—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time” 2 Timothy 1:10
“For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him. 2 Chronicles 16:9
Worship is a life of obedience.
“Away with your hymns of praise! …I want to see a mighty flood of justice, a river of righteous living that will never run dry.” Amos 5: 23,24
God wants more than praise! God doesn’t say to be just obedient, but rather to be willing and obedient. “If you are willing and obedient you will eat the good things of the land.” Isaiah 1:19
God has a particular will for our lives, each of us. He wants to be involved with us in our day-to-day stuff. There are various decisions of some significance that we must make. God has a will for each of these. We have to consult Him to find out what He wants. He’s a very good communicator and very capable of getting His will across to us. Yet, God will never ask us to do anything unless we ourselves want to do it.
Quite often He will lead us in directions, which eventually appear completely opposite of logic.” We must choose to obey even when we don’t understand: we’ll see His promise fulfilled in a way outside our understanding. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
In the end, the will of God is the only thing that’s worth doing. It’s the only thing that ultimately works anyway. Why should we waste our time and energy fighting it?
The key to hearing from the Lord? —
Tell Him you will do His will no matter what it is. We must challenge ourselves to move out of our comfort zone and put our gifts at the service of the whole Church.
The Holy Spirit can be unpredictable: one can experience a complete emotional and physical state as euphoric, even ecstatic: resting in the Spirit without distractions or resting in the arms of the Lord Himself. In this state, you are able to hear voices but you are not the least bit interested.
“I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!” Luke 12:49
