KETOGENIC DIET: A GAME CHANGER
Most people don’t have the time, money or energy for lengthy diet and training routines. That’s where ketosis came into play: turning your body from storing fat to burning it.
Here is a simple explanation:
I have had a little five pound pouch that I have been carrying for a few years. I am an avid swimmer; I swim five times a week for a distance of one kilometer (40 lengths x 25 meters).
I started a Keto diet by simply eliminating all sugar and carbohydrates like toast for a couple of weeks. To my amazement the pouch finally disappeared.
How did it magically happen? The body needs energy for all its bodily activities from keeping the heart pumping to managing my stomach and intestines. This energy demand is vital.
Normally, the body will find easy energy sources in what I have been always eating: potatoes, spaghetti, etc. During the last ten days, the only energy the body could muster is from the fat build up in my five pound tummy. Voila!
I simply kept to a balanced diet including vegetables and fruit and I ate according to my needs (not overeating). I noticed that my water consumption tripled. During the transition of burning good fats using the liver, I felt a little dizzy. I simply drank it away with a smoothie.
Yes, there are other diets. The most important part of any diet is persistence. Yet, Keto allows you to splurge on good fats, which is hardly a sacrifice.
I started the morning after my swim at my favorite restaurant, Coco Fruiti, and ordered an omelet – no toast or potatoes and a double order of fruit or tomatoes, which was offered free as a replacement.
I was introduced to the diet from my friend, Pedro, who now looks amazing after months of Keto. Of course, he added an exercise regime to burn away his excess fat (the body could not find any carbohydrates to burn for energy):
