THOSE LACKING KNOWLEDGE of GOD

No knowledge of God

WHAT ABOUT THOSE WHO LACK KNOWLEDGE?

PARALYZING FEAR OF GOD

Have you ever had a feeling that God is somewhat threatening and somewhat fearsome? God’s love for you can be limited to your fear of God’s power. You may even wish to keep a careful distance even though the desire for closeness is immense. The paralysis of the fear of God is one of the great human tragedies.

No Knowledge of God

God is in charge of the world. Every single force at work in the universe comes from His hand and is under His control. Think of the wonderful workings of your own body: you must know that a vastly superior Being could have engineered such a magnificent machine. So God has revealed Himself. You should automatically have an inherent knowledge of God from this observation alone.

How can God justly judge those have no knowledge of God? Answer: they have rejected the revelation of God in nature. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”                                                                                                        Romans 1:20

Most of us reject the concept of punishment unfortunately. Like children, we don’t wish to face the consequences of our own choices. What will happen to them? They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might”                                                       2 Thessalonian 1:9

Some people like to make jokes about hell, but if you simply read the scriptures, hell is no laughing matter. One writer calls it the bottomless pit. It conjures the idea of falling, falling, falling. Now imagine that God is hanging on to you, but you decide that you don’t need Him anymore. You don’t want God messing up you plans and telling you what to do. So you let go.

You have just committed treason against the King of the universe. Your sentence has been self-imposed. Remember THE LAW OF CONSEQUENCES. If we choose to sin, there will be evil results. We cannot avoid them.

The world cannot escape the terrible judgments of God. It will be too late then to choose your side. That will not be the time for choosing. Now, today, this moment is our chance to choose the right side.

But the moment you let go, you begin to fall further and further from the source of help. You know that you have made a mistake but you can’t get back up. How long? Forever! There is no annihilation: that means you can’t just disappear. You have to suck it up!

God does not want anyone to perish like that.  But justice has been carried out.

God knows how we function. That is why He has provided a new resource for believers: the Holy Spirit. “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us,”                                             Ephesians 3:20

REALITY OF HELL

REALITY OF HELL One of the great dangers of this century, and thus one of the great triumphs of Satan, has been the growing disbelief in the existence of Hell. For many, Hell has become a fable, a myth, an outdated holdover from “the Old Testament God of fire, brimstone and judgment.”

WHAT HELL IS LIKE

Hell is a place of fire. Matthew 13:42 speaks of it as a furnace of fire. Matthew 25:41 calls it an everlasting fire. Mark 9:44-45 says the fire is never quenched. Revelation 21:8 refers to it as the lake of fire. There will be no relief from its fires because Revelation 14:11 says the smoke from the fires of torment ascends forever and ever.

Jesus warns: “And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire…”                                        Mark 9:42

TESTIMONY: GOING TO HELL

One of the greatest mystics of this century was Sister Josefa Menendez, who died in 1923 at the age of 33. More than once, she was taken to Hell to witness and feel the suffering first-hand:

“My soul fell into abysmal depths, the bottom of which cannot be seen, for it is immense . . . ; then I was pushed into one of those fiery cavities and pressed, as it were, between burning planks, and sharp nails and red-hot irons seemed to be piercing my flesh. I felt as if they were endeavoring to pull out my tongue, but could not. This torture reduced me to such agony that my very eyes seemed to be starting out of their sockets. I think this was because of the fire which burns, burns. . . not a finger nail escapes terrifying torments, and all the time one cannot move even a finger to gain some relief, not change posture, for the body seems flattened out and [yet] doubled in two. CAN RELATIVES IN HEAVEN HEAR OUR PRAYERS?

CAN SAINTS IN HEAVEN HEAR OUR PRAYERS?

“In heaven the elders and angels offer up the prayers of the saints [on earth] as incense before the throne of God”                                                                                                                                                      Revelation 5:8; 8:3-4

This implies that the angels and elders (holy Christians now in heaven) hear the prayers of every Christian on earth, and join their prayer now with ours: they can hear our prayers.

We can indeed ask the angels and saints for their prayers. They can hear us and respond to us by praying for us. This is not idolatry. Idolatry would only occur if one believed that a saint or angel would give you something that our Lord would not.

God provides everything we need for us to be transformed into the image of Christ in this life.

If we die in the state of grace but before we have been fully conformed to the image of Christ, purgatory will complete that process for us.  The process of purgatory has been compared to the refiners touch. The souls of our loved ones must be saved by prayer from torments .

RELATIVES HEAVEN PRAYERS

LOST IN PURGATORY: the Immortal Soul

“Then in anger his master handed him over to the torturers until he should pay back the whole debt. So will my heavenly Father do to you, unless each of you forgives his brother from his heart.”                                                                                                              Matthew 18: 34,35

Doesn’t that sound like a form of purgatory to you: until he should pay back the whole debt.”?

Message from a soul in Purgatory to a mystic:                                                         “I know when you pray for me, and it is the same with all of the other souls here in Purgatory. Very few of us here get any prayers; the majority of us are totally abandoned, with no thought or prayers offered for us from those on earth Continue to pray; I will repay you later on. When I am released you will see that I will do far more for you than you have ever done for me.”

YOUR LOVED ONES

As we get older, the majority of those we love best are dead. What sort of intercourse with God could we have, if what we love best were not important to Him?                                                            C.S. Lewis

So where does that leave your loved one? You probably never even considered the possibility of purgatory: no thought, no prayers, no hope. You may even have been taught that there is no purgatory, because it has not been mentioned specifically by name in the Bible.

YOUR LOVED ONES ARE TOTALLY HELPLESS.
