HEALING THE ADDICTIVE BRAIN

ADDICTION GRACEADDICTION RECOVERY

Addiction Recovery can take months and for some many years involving medication. There is a short cut that God provides in the form of Grace, which is a mysterious interweaving of divine grace and human willingness.

We may yearn to let go and let God,” but it usually doesn’t happen until we have exhausted our own efforts.

addiction grace

LOTS OF ADDICTIONS

Most people are addicted to something, be it a substance or one’s own self-concept. Anything that steals life from us and causes us to make illogical or hasty decisions is our addiction: anything we cling to instead of God. The object of the addiction, whether it is drugs or alcohol or sex are not the primary issue. Rather, it is becoming obsessed with them: a false sense of love. It includes many other areas: chocolate, food, Facebook, power, fame, pornography, even driving too fast, etc.

The truth is, we were never meant to be completely satisfied. Saint Augustine states “You have made us for Yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in You.” We give all our time and energy to the addiction, instead of love. We were created for love but we seek it apart from the Creator. Addiction, then, displaces and supplants God’s love as the source and object of our deepest true desire.

Addiction is a spiritual disease, a disease of the soul, an illness resulting from this same longing, frustrated desire, and deep dissatisfaction – which is ironically the necessary beginning of any spiritual path.”HEALING THE ADDICTIVE BRAIN

Having a personal relationship with God begins the moment we realize our need for Him, admit we are sinners, and in faith receive Jesus Christ as Savior. God, our heavenly Father, has always desired to be close to us, to have a relationship with us.

God gently and humbly waits for our invitation to enter into our emptiness, our place of deepest longing. “It is all about “God’s love (which) has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us”                                                                   Romans 5:5

ADDICTION GRACE
There have been books written about grace that imply that grace can come from any source. You cannot speak of the healing power of grace apart from Jesus, no matter what you read about New Age, Buddhism or Hinduism. It is only the grace of God through Jesus Christ that brings real transformation, despite the fact that they may continue to help your spirituality, which is not the real issue here.

THE “HOW-TO” STUFF

Just ask yourself to stop something, and if you can’t, you’ll be face to face with addiction. Then we use the Grace Toggle or Grace Switch. Grace is the most powerful force in the universe and it is where your hope lies. Grace is what draws us toward God.

Whenever we have an urge for a drink or a smoke you say this little prayer and the addictive feeling will fade away. Try this “Living Water of Grace and you will see and you will be surprised if it is from the heart.

Through Jesus Christ, a “faith healer” can heal you from any of your ailments including your addiction. You will also need to be delivered from all evil spirits influencing you, because addiction is tied to evil or to Satan.

ADDICTION GRACE

What is further required is an acknowledgement of your faith in God. It begins with this prayer of faith from the heart. Faith and healing are intertwined. The emphasis is “from the heart” otherwise it all becomes a worship disorder.

Lord Jesus, I love You! Lord Jesus, I believe in You!                    Lord Jesus,  I trust You!

Usually 80% of the healing takes place immediately. The complete healing will take place over a reasonable short time, but this requires homework: the one being healed must praise and thank God every day or whenever he or she thinks about it until the complete healing has taken place. The prayer below is invaluable. It answers the question of how long will this healing last.

GRACE ADDICTION

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING:

To be said daily and whenever you think about it until all the healing is complete:

Lord, I thank You and I praise you for Your healing.

or a shorter 7 word Breathe Prayer:

Lord, I thank You and praise you.

This prayer is to be said upon temptation and anytime you think about it until complete healing has taken place and at a very minimum at least once a day. Actually, in recovery, only hour by hour gratitude is strong enough to overcome all temptations.

addiction grace

POWER IN PRAISE

HEALING THE ADDICTIVE BRAIN

So praise becomes the medicine, We are to praise God for everything even for our addiction which may eventually cause us to free ourselves for a committed relationship to God.

Praise God for everything???  When you are affected by conflicts and inner confusion, you finally come to a deeper consciousness of God because of these intentional struggles.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”                                                                                                             Thessalonians 5:16-18

It is also an ongoing process in which one, and with grace, grows ever more deeply in love. It is an ongoing transition from compulsively trying to control one’s life toward a trusting and openness to God.

“Bless our God, O peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard, who has kept us among the living, and has not let our feet slip. For You, O God, have tested us; You have tried us as silver is tried. You brought us into the net; You laid burdens on our backs; You let people ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; yet You have brought us out to a spacious place.” (freeing us from attachments).                                                                            Psalm 66:8-12

ADDICTION GRACE

TRUST IS THE BASIS OF LIFE.

Without trust, no human being can live. Trapeze artists offer a beautiful image of this. Fliers have to trust their catchers. They can do the most spectacular doubles, triples, or quadruples, but what finally makes their performance spectacular are the catchers who are there for them at the right time in the right place.

Much of our lives is flying. It is wonderful to fly in the air free as a bird, but when God isn’t there to catch us, all our flying comes to nothing. Let’s trust in the Great Catcher.                                                                Henri Nouwen

A ”faith healer” is one who has been baptized in the Holy Spirit (born again) and has received the Gift of Healing.  He or she is sinless and often are involved with missionary work. God knows that healing is an effective way that missionaries need to introduce or strengthen Christianity. Check out the following links:

  • Christians don’t shout, “I am clean living!” They whisper “I was lost, but now I’m found and forgiven.”
  • Christians don’t speak of this with pride. They confess that they stumble and need Christ to be their guide.

  • Christians are not holier than thou. They are also simple sinners who receive God’s unbelievable grace.

Christianity on a Table Napkin:AUTHENTIC LIFE

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.                                                                                                                                     Romans 10:9

The real Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. He was send by God to come to the earth in the body of a human being. That was so that He could suffer in the flesh, take all our sins upon Himself and die in our place. He rose from the dead and lives to pray for us daily.
He is the Saviour – The angel announced to Mary; …and you shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Matthew 1:21    It means He has the power to free us, save us and deliver us from sin. He is merciful and has the power to forgive. He brings good news to the poor, heals the heartbroken, announce freedom to all captives, pardons all prisoners. He comforts mourners. He has healing in His wings.
If you are not yet received Jesus as your Saviour… SAY: Lord Jesus, You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Please hear me today and help me! I want to receive you as my Lord and Saviour. Be Lord of my life!  Lord Jesus, I believe that You died for me and that God raised You from the dead. Forgive me all my sins and take all my sins away. Come into my heart and be my Saviour and Lord, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Amen

God the Father will wipe every tear from our eyes, and there shall be no more death or mourning, crying out or pain. We will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is The Holy Spirit will have made all things new. Eternal joy will have begun.  “For the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is His name.”                                          Luke 1: 49

Are we not like Barabbas justly condemned for murder, but saved by the innocent Jesus on the cross? Are we not like the adulterous woman, deserving of death by stoning, to whom Jesus says, “I do not condemn you”?  And Jesus saved them both. In fact, Jesus came to earth specifically to look for and save those who were lost.

“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD.

“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;

though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. Isaiah 1:18

WHAT IS A BLESSING?

WHAT IS A BLESSING?When we invoke God’s blessing, we implore His divine beneficence, trusting that He will respond to our needs. He will cause situations to come together in your favor, no matter what others try to do.

The Lord said to Moses, “Bless the people of Israel with this special Blessing. Whenever (you) bless the people … in My name, I Myself will bless them.”                                                                            Numbers 6:23, 27

“May the Lord bless you
    and protect you.
May the Lord smile on you
    and be gracious to you.
May the Lord show you His favor

and give you His peace.”                       Numbers 6:24-26

WHAT IS A BLESSING?

VALUE OF A BLESSING

Blessings are signs to the faithful of the spiritual benefits achieved through Christ’s intercession. Every baptized person is called to be a ‘blessing,’ and to bless.  Hence lay people may preside at certain blessings. The value of this blessing in the eyes of God depends upon the person’s individual sincerity and sanctity.

We are blessed to be a blessing to others. When you focus on being a blessing, God makes sure that you are always blessed in abundance.

“And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.” Genesis 12:2

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”                                                                                                 2 Corinthians 9:8

WHAT IS A BLESSING?

“And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all His commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you”                                                                                             Deuteronomy 28:1,2

Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free; the Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over the sojourners; He upholds the widow and the fatherless, but the way of the wicked He brings to ruin.”                                                                                                                                         Psalm 146:5-9

BEING A CHRISTIAN TODAY

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CHRISTIAN TODAY?

Let’s face it: the person of Jesus Christ does not have the place in our lives that He ought to have. Could it be that we have not yet really understood what it is to be a Christian?

A pagan or natural religion is a religion of code or cult. People realize that someone else created this world before us here and so they ask about the ground rules or a moral code. They realize that they must express some acknowledgement and gratitude of this “someone else” or Creator.  And so a cult is born. The American Indian would hold up slice of a slain animal to someone above as recognition of God. This is a cult.

Let us ask whether Christianity is more than this? We know as Christians that Jesus died to redeem us. Do we truly understand what it means to be “redeemed”? Our Lord’s death on the cross did not just change the Father’s attitude to us, but it did something very profound to us.

Christ died so that we might change, interiorly, in the very core of our being. Because we are redeemed, we are now called, and able, to think as men have never thought before, to evaluate things in this world in a way that overturns all previous standards of judgment , to act in ways that are as far beyond what we usually understand by “morality”:

We are ready to lead a new life and to share what we call a life of grace: a sharing in Christ’s life, that is His thinking, His choosing, His appreciating, His knowledge and loving and suffering and rejoicing here on earth – right here and now and not only sharing His joy fully and forever in heaven.

So is our religion a matter of morality and doing the right thing in order to get to heaven: a code or cult Christianity? Or is it a search for communion with the mind and heart of Christ? You need to have a deeper understanding of the Lawmaker. You must think beyond your channel of reasoning. You must be aware of the revelation of God speaking through the Scriptures.

Do you think that the challenge will be too much for you?

CONNECTING CHRISTIANITY WITH LIFE

The trouble with Christianity is that it’s like your voter registration: if you don’t use it you lose it.

We start wandering around, going from one little sensation to another. Our lives get stuffed with newspaper items, television stories, and gossip. Then our minds lose the discipline of discerning between what leads us closer to God and what doesn’t, and our hearts gradually lose their spiritual sensitivity.

Are you living a form of “civil religion” inspired by acceptance of the values of one’s society rather than those found in the Bible? Civil religion is simply another name for paganism. It’s what nice people in our society do.

We can become a god unto ourselves with this thinking. You begin to set God apart from life in this world. You begin to live this compromise. It is like saying that you are driving your car toward California while reading the tourist brochures about Florida.

You may be a couch Christian. You do take some “time out” to acknowledge occasionally the theoretical dependence on God before you rush into the real business of making a living in the world. For your religion may have nothing significantly to say about life. Your religion may be fine so long as it does not interfere with the way you live.

HOW SERIOUS ARE YOU?

Are you like a contestant in Olympic Games? Each contestant chooses what to eat with only one guiding principle in mind: what will help you win the contest. A serious contestant will not eat whatever is served just because it is polite or because everybody else is eating it.

You can clearly identify a true Christian be the obvious fact that they clearly eat and drink and do everything for the glory of God. They are guided by a desire to live completely and totally by the gospel of Jesus Christ. They are not people who “fit in”.

Christians do not set out to be nonconformists. They actually have a set of values that do not conform to the seeing and thinking of this world.

CIVIL RELIGION

“From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.” Luke 12:48

CIVIL RELIGION

“He (Jesus) replied, ‘I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what they have will be taken away.” Luke 19:26

If we are going to be real Christians, if we are going to know Jesus Christ, we are going to have to reform our lives. This doesn’t mean tightening up this little laxity in our lives, but a reshaping of the whole pattern, giving a whole new direction and form to everything we do.

Christianity

Should we not be challenging consumerism, affluence and waste? Should we not be concerned with our brothers and sisters in the underdeveloped nations? Should we not use our time on this earth as a precious talent God has given us to invest for the Kingdom of God?

If that effect is not all-embracing and “radical”, which touches every root of our existence, then we have to face the fact, sooner or later, that we have never truly encountered Him and that He is not “real” to us.

Let’s hope that doesn’t take place on Judgment Day.

We do not take our money, our social status, our worldly power into the next world; but we do take the quality of our love. At the end of our lives, we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made or how many great things we have done.

Faith or Physician?

The justification for relying on faith healing over conventional medicine comes from a belief that turning to man is diametrically opposed to turning to God. In other words, you can either turn to God for help, or you can turn to man for help – but not both.

The following scripture gives the physician  credibility which is due to him or her, but the patient may not have witnessed the Miracles of God’s Healing.  This dilemma  causes a lot of stress for the patient.  Yet, “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.”                                                                                                                Psalm 118:8

Physician: Sirach or Ecclesiastics:

1  “Honor the physician with the honor due him, according to your need of him, the Lord created him;

2  For healing comes from the Most High, and he will receive a gift from the king.

3  The skill of the physician lifts up his head, and in the presence of great men he is admired.

4  The Lord created medicines from the earth, and a sensible man will not despise them.

5  Was not water made sweet with a tree in order that his power might be known?

6  And he gave skill to men that he might be glorified in his marvelous works.

7  By them he heals and takes away pain;

8   The pharmacist makes of them a compound. His works will never be finished; and from him health is upon the face of the earth.

9   My son, when you are sick do not be negligent, but pray to the Lord, and he will heal you.

10  Give up your faults and direct your hands aright, and cleanse your heart from all sin.

11  Offer a sweet-smelling sacrifice, and a memorial portion of fine flour, and pour oil on your offering, as much as you can afford.

12  Give the physician his place, for the Lord created him; let him not leave you, for there is need of him.

13 There is a time when success lies in the hands of physicians,

14  For they too will pray to the Lord that he should grant them success in diagnosis and in healing, for the sake of preserving life.

15  He who sins before his Maker, may he fall into the care of a physician.”                                                                                                                                                                                                      Sirach or Ecclesiastics 38: 1-15*

No medicine or ointment cured them. They were restored to health by your Word, O Lord, the word which heals all humanity.                                                                                                                                              Wisdom 16:12*

My Lord, I love you:  say it many times. God loves to hear it. Say it a thousand times a day and every morning when you rest in the Lord.  How wonderful it is for God to hear you call Him, ‘Father’.”

Vassula, since you know now how much you depend on Me your God. Will you be praying more? I love your simple words, say to Me,

I love You Lord,

I breathe for You, I smile for You,

I hope in You, I believe in You,

You are my joy, my bounce, my peace. ”                      March 8, 1988

 PRAYER POWER

Vassula writes down the messages which she receives in a stately handwriting, quite distinct from her own.  She hears, interiorly, a voice first, then , when she has to write down what she has heard, her writing changes.                                                                                                             TLIG.org

The Unceasing Prayer: “Tell Me, ‘I love you Jesus, you are my joy, my breathe, my rest, my sight, my smile,’  daughter, were you given time to think and meditate you would please Me furthermore; you will from now on seek Me in silence, love Me in absolute silence, pray in silence, enter My Spiritual World in silence”                                      May 31, 1987

Help me Father and lead me to Your pastures of repose,                 Where everlasting pure love flows                                                                       Be My Light to show me the Way;                                                                   With You, by Your side will I walk                                                                           With You illuminating me, will I talk.                                                         Father, Beloved, remain within me to have Peace,                                    To feel Your Love.                                                                                                               I will follow you in Your footprint,                                                                         With You I will remain;                                                                                      Enlighten me, love me,                                                                                                      Be with me here and forever after. Amen            September 27, 1986

My Father, lead me wherever Your will wishes me to go.                      Allow me to live in Your Light and warm my heart,                                      That it may glow,                                                                                                              Giving warmth on those who approach me.                                            Blessed be Your Name,                                                                                              For giving me all these Graces,                                                                                     In spite of my nothingness.                                                                                   Blessed be Your Name,                                                                                                 For the Good You have done to me,                                                                         And the Mercy You have shown me,                                                               Lifting me near Your Heart. Amen.                                           May 1, 1987

Understand how I work, but feel Me, let Me hear you talk to Me, remember Me; never will I let anything come before Me; I am First; polishing your soul will make it shine like gold … but have Me in mind always.”                                                                                         July 18, 1987

God would want you to concentrate more on Him. Conversing with God is Prayer.  One can make this more of a reality by speaking in terms of weandus, to show that one is united to God daily: “we are one.”  When you have a coffee, you have coffee for two. It is always “we” or “us” who are having coffee.

“Remember My Presence; do you know how much I desire this meditation upon My Presence? My Presence is also a very important Mystery that most of you seem to forget; meditate on My Presence; children, whom I love with an everlasting love, please Me by remembering My actual Presence; train yourselves by using these words, we, us, you and I, I and you, us; include Me in your activities, in your discussions and in your thoughts; respect My Presence, never forgetting that I am the Holy One; by remembering Me, you will sin less knowing and remembering that I Am with you.”  October 24, 1988

POWER OF PRAYER

“Many of you pray; but your prayers do not reach Me; learn how to pray, let Me feel you; many prayers are spilled on earth, never reaching Me;   You mean lip-service, Lord?   Yes, I mean lip service.”                                                                                                                                             February 19, 1988 Continue reading PRAYER POWER

Never Face the Future Alone

You Will Never Face the Future Alone.

How worthwhile are you? You are infinitely valuable to God. First, God created you. Second, Jesus died for you. Third, he puts his Spirit within you. Fourth, he wants you to be with him forever in eternity. That’s how valuable you are to God. You are infinitely valuable to God.

Face Future Trust

There is nothing to fear when you know God is near. On your own you might drown, but God has said, “I will never abandon you or leave you” Hebrews 13:5 Some of you feel alone right now. You may feel it, but you’re not! You’re not alone. God sees what you’re going through. God cares about what you’re going through. God’s going through that situation with you, and He will help you out if you trust Him.

Face Future Trust

The ultimate test of faith is not how loudly you praise God in happy times but how deeply you trust him in dark times.Face Future Trust

You may really believe and have a great trust in God Almighty, but the problem always comes from the doubt, What can you do to remove that doubt because it’s so pushing.

Satan will plan all kinds of seeds of doubt and fear in your mind like, “What if you lose your job?” “What if you get sick?” “What if you’re incapacitated?” “What if the economy tanks?” You may face anxiety from other sources as well. What you need to do is remember God promised to never abandon you and to always be with you. You don’t have to know what the future holds because you know Who holds the future.

Character is both developed and revealed by tests, and all of life is a test… You will be tested by major changes, delayed promises, impossible problems, unanswered prayers, undeserved criticism, and even senseless tragedies.

Face Future Trust

What gives you the most hope every day is God’s grace; knowing that His grace is going to give you the strength for whatever you face, knowing that nothing is a surprise to God.

Face Future Trust

YOU WERE DESIGNED TO WORSHIP GOD

If you fail to worship Him, you will create other things (idols) to give your life to.  If not to God, you will surrender to the opinions or expectations of others, to money, to resentment, to fear, or to your own pride, lusts, or ego. You are free to choose, what you surrender to but you are not free from the consequence of that choice.

You were made by God and for God, and until you understand that, life will never make sense.

CHRISTIAN YOGA?

Christianity YogaThe goal of yoga is to be one with the universe. In Scripture you will not find that You are the creation; you can’t be one with the creator. Scripture never says to clear your minds, but it says to meditate on the Word of God.

CHRISTIAN YOGA

Yoga is not simply physical exercise; yoga is a spiritual exercise of Hinduism that makes room for the Kundalini “serpent power”. Through the controlled breathing, the posture, the stillness and/or repetition, etc. the Kundalini  can rise up and possess a person.

A person does not have to be looking for Kundalini in order for this to happen–the yoga itself creates the conditions. Mantras, stillness, repetition, etc. (different devil worshipers use different techniques) are summons to the devil. Gurus lead their students through different protocols to help them “prepare” for this entrance of the serpent power.

yoga Christianity

“The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.”           Revelation 12:9

The serpent power basically tells Hindus the same thing that Satan told Eve in the garden–“ye shall be as gods.”

Who does not know that Hinduism is pantheistic (saying that “all is god”) and teaches that all people are supposedly already god but they just have to realize it.

Yoga Spiritual

TESTIMONY: I HAVE BEEN IN KUNDALINI AWAKENING FOR 10 YEARS.

I had been very sick. So I went to a healer. Well she happened to be a shaman yogi. I was only 24 years old; I have been fighting for my life for ten years. They say once you open your Kundalini you can’t shut It well I have not been able to shut mine.

I learned more about the Kundalini after researching the contemplative prayer movement that is entering the emerging church of the devil. Kundalini awakening can be triggered unintentionally. Satan just waits for the conditions to be right. Some people go insane, check into mental hospitals over and over again, experience personality changes, cannot function as before and even commit suicide

Yoga is a very sick religion and spiritually you feel dead: you were right when you said nothing good comes from Yoga. Gurus are extremely dangerous individuals. Let Christians know it could hurt your faith even just the exercise can lead you to the unknown.

YOGA SPIRITUAL

DOES THIS LOOK LIKE JUST EXERCISE?

Yoga Spiritual

Doctrine of Demons?

  1. Yoga teaches you to empty your mind completely. (The Bible only says to meditate on the Word of God.)
  2. Yoga aims at finding the divinity inside of you.
  3. Yoga teaches that by doing good things one can rid themselves of evil.

The positions in Yoga (Asanas) are also positions in which you present yourself as an offering to certain gods of Hinduism. This religion  presents the god of the universe as an impersonal, universal god who exists equally in everything including living beings, other religious deities, and inanimate objects.

Yoga also comes from the religion which is at the heart of the “New Age movement” which provides a plethora of heretical and anti-Biblical teachings. These teachings include

  • “You are God”
  • “You are your own savior”
  • “There is no sin”
  • “All religions are one in the end”
  • “God is who you want it to be”
  • “God is nature and the universe”

Yoga is often a “gateway drug” in to further forms of error, occult, and religious interest. If you get serious about Yoga it will draw you in to other New Age things such as Transcendental Meditation, Astrology, or Pantheism.

And remember it may not be you who falls in to error through Yoga but it could easily happen to a younger Christian interested in Yoga.

HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED HOW TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN?

god proof

  • Christians don’t shout, “I am clean living!” They whisper “I was lost, but now I’m found and forgiven.”
  • Christians don’t speak of this with pride. They confess that they stumble and need Christ to be their guide.
  • Christians don’t say,” I’m strong.” They say they are trying to be strong because they are really weak and need strength.
  • Christians don’t brag of success, but they admit that they are failing and they need God to clean up the mess.
  • Christians don’t claim to be perfect. Their flaws are far too visible but God believes they are worth it.
  • Christians still feel the sting of pain and they have their share of headaches but they call upon His Name.
  • Christians are not holier than thou. They are also simple sinners who receive God’s Unbelievable Grace.

CHRISTIANITY ON A NAPKIN

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.                                                                                                                                                Romans 10:9

trust Jesus Christ

“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;

though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.    Isaiah 1:18

You may need some counselling with a pastor, priest or competent Christian worker, who will introduce you to this Short Course on Who is Jesus? Start by reading the Gospel according to John: It is all about love and you will love it. Read several verses before going to bed and read the same verse upon arising. Soaking yourself in the love of God defends you from attacks of the enemy

VOODOO SPIRITUALITY

VOODOOISMvoodooism spiritual beings loa

Vodou is primarily practiced in Haiti, New Orleans, and other locations within the Caribbean. There is great variation within Voodoo beliefs and practices. Many Vodou practitioners also consider themselves Catholics. Voodooism involves spiritual beings.

voodooism spiritual beings

As well as being the priest or priestess, the houngan acts as confessor, confidential and financial advisor, prophet and healer for the people in the community. But the houngan is more a folk healer with a considerable knowledge of herbal remedies who treats minor illnesses. While selling love potions and protective charms, including small bags to be worn for protection or for good luck, may be a lucrative side business for a priest or priestess, the primary occupation is still as a spiritual leader of his community. Voodooists especially places value on the strength of community for support.

Loa or Spiritual Beings

The spirits of death, The Guédé are really an enormous group of the loa who are the spirits of formerly living people. He is the one who controls the passage between life and death. In ritual, he is often offered black goats or chickens. The most frequently performed ritual in Voodoo is one that invokes a particular loa (supernatural beings) to offer food to him and seek his presence on earth.

The most important components of a human body, however, are the two parts of the soul, the ti-bon-ange (‘little good angel’) and the gros-bon-ange (‘great good angel’). The gros-bon-age keeps the body alive, and after death, it returns to the reservoir of energy in the cosmos. Without the gros-bon-ange a person loses his/ her life-force. The ti-bon-ange makes up the half of a person’s soul and it is the source of a person’s personality. Furthermore, it is responsible for determining an individual’s characteristics, personality and will.

In Voodoo belief, death is not seen as the end of life, but as a change. The soul – the gros-bon-ange and the ti-bon-ange – endures after death in a different form. The gros-bon-ange returns to the high solar regions where it joins the other loa (supernatural being) and is itself transformed into a loa. Approximately a year after the death, the houngan (priest) performs a ritual, to ensure that the ti-bon-ange is put to rest. This ritual is very important because otherwise the ti-bon-ange may wonder the earth and bring illness and disaster on others.

A Distinctive Human Soul

A human person is a UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL BEING with a spiritual soul and a material body. Human beings alone are created in the image and likeness of God; and therefore, possess rational and spiritual souls: a human person is a body/soul composite.

Human Soul Sikhism

Why is this Extremely Dangerous?

Voodoo believers must invoke spells to pacify angry spirits.  The dark side of voodoo is used by participants to summon evil spirits and cast hexing spells upon adversaries. “Voodoo” has become part of modern folklore as something evil that can hurt us. There are terrifying stories about people who were affected by curses that had been placed upon them

In Voodooism, death is a transition to the invisible world, so our predecessors are still with us in spirit. They watch over and inspire us. Divinity is found in the act of ritual itself, in chanting and drumming and dancing to call the immortal spirits down from the cosmic plane where they live that infuses the practitioners with divine power.

DANGEROUS UNGODLY SUPERSTITIOUS BELIEFS

Voodoo doesn’t pray to a Personal GOD. Why?

The “great good God,” although loving, is distant, and somewhat above individual human concerns.

The Mouse’s Search for the Cat

The unproved assumption of this very common mountain analogy is that the roads go up, not down; that man makes the roads, not God; that religion is man’s search for God, not God’s search for man.  C. S. Lewis says this sounds like the mouse’s search for the cat”.

Taoism

Christianity is not a system of man’s search for God but a story of God’s search for man.  True religion is not like a cloud of incense wafting up from special spirits into the nostrils of a waiting God, but like a Father’s hand thrust downward to rescue the fallen.

Taoism

Taoism Pantheism

The Word of God: came to us from the Bible

In the beginning God made from nothing the heavens and the earth.”                                                                                                           Genesis 1:1

“He made from one blood all nations who live on the earth. He set the times and places where they should live. They were to look for God. Then they might feel after Him and find Him because He is not far from each one of us. It is in Him that we live and move and keep on living.”                                                                                    Acts 17:26-28

“The heavens are telling of the greatness of God and the great open spaces above show the work of His hands.”                Psalm 19:1

”Lord, You have been the place of comfort for all people of all time. Before the mountains were born, before You gave birth to the earth and the world, forever and ever, You are God.”   Psalm 90:1, 2

NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES

PROOF OF HEAVEN

Are all religions are the same, deep down?

By Catholic standards, the religions of the world can be ranked by how much truth they teach.

  • Catholicism is first, with Orthodoxy equal except for the one issue of papal authority.
  • Then comes Protestantism and any “separated brethren” who keep the Christian essentials as found in sola scriptura (Latin: by Scripture alone) is a theological doctrine which holds that the Christian Scriptures are the sole infallible rule of faith and practice.
  • Third comes traditional Judaism, which worships the same God but not via Christ.
  • Fourth is Islam: the greatest of the theistic heresies.
  • Fifth, Hinduism: a mystical pantheism;
  • Sixth, Buddhism: pantheism without a theos (God);
  • Seventh, Christian Cults: Mormonism or Later Day Saints, Jehovah’s Witnesses; Voodooism
  • Eighth, modern Judaism, Unitarianism, Unification Church, whose members are often called “Moonies”, Confucianism, Falun Gong, Taoism, New Age, Modernism, Christian Science, Scientology and secular humanism, none of which have either mysticism or supernatural religion but only ethics;
  • Ninth, idolatry connotes the worship of something or someone other than God as if it were God.; and
  • Tenth, Satanism and Wicca contacting and convening with Satan as a supernatural being or force worthy of connection. They claim there is power here but it comes from the wrong source: BE WARNED!

NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES

THE 10 NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCESNEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE

Our Near Death Experiences showed us thatGod has prepared a future for you filled with more exhilaration and excitement, most breathtaking beauty, more love and depth with friends and family than you have ever experienced on earth. “Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away …He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:1, 4

How did hundreds of people — doctors, airline pilots, bank presidents , tenured professors– who didn’t need to make up wild stories to make money (and would lose professional credibility doing so), come to describe an amazing similar place.

The prophets like Isaiah were told by God that the new Heaven and new earth will have similarities to the beauty of the present earth, but restored and improved:

“See, I will create
new heavens and a new earth.
The former things will not be remembered,
nor will they come to mind.
But be glad and rejoice forever
    in what I will create,
for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight
    and its people a joy.

They will build houses and dwell in them;
they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

Before they call I will answer;
while they are still speaking I will hear.
The wolf and the lamb will feed together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox,
and dust will be the serpent’s food.
They will neither harm nor destroy
    on all my holy mountain,”
says the Lord.:”                                            Isaiah 65:17,18;24,25

God tells Isaiah His Holy City will be a place of beauty and joy, with plants and trees, vineyards and fruit, mountains and valleys, where all the creatures finally will live in harmony — as we intuitively know it should be.

A FEELING OF OVERWHELMING LOVE

In 69% of the cases, NDErs felt that they were in the presence of an overwhelming love in the company of family and friends or other mystical bodies. “The kind of love I experienced cannot be expressed in words” in an unworldly realm. It is beyond our finite, earthly language.

NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE

MENTAL TELEPATHY

The ability to communicate with the people or entities through a kind of mental telepathy was reported by 65% of the experiences.

GOD

Meeting a figure that appeared to be God or some divine being was reported by 56% of experiences. Interestingly, 75% of people who consider themselves atheists reported these divine figures.

TREMENDOUS ECSTASY

A tremendous joy of being in this place: free of their bodies and earthly troubles, and in the presence of loving beings. This incredible peace was experienced by 76%. It was a heightened sense of being more alert than normal: no more pain and doubts.

imagine heaven

UNLIMITED KNOWLEDGE

Many times (56%) they were in the presence of unlimited knowledge, and sometimes even received some or all of this knowledge, as if the wisdom and secrets of the universe were shared with them (which were lost on returning to earth). Heavenly travel was at the speed of thought.

AFTERLIFE LEVELS

They traveled through or were made aware of different levels or realms. Some were even shown – even experienced – what they thought was Hell, a place a great anguish.

TOLD NOT READY

Just less than half (46%) of NDE they say that their time in the afterlife came to a kind of barrier where a decision had to be made: to stay in the afterlife or return to life on Earth. They are  reluctant to return, even if they are told they have a mission to complete.  Is it any wonder why they would not want to return to earth.

SHOWN THE FUTURE

In 44% of the cases, people were given the knowledge of future events. They could be future world events, or they could be events specific to the life of the person.

THE TUNNEL

NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE

The “tunnel of light” has become almost a trademark of the near-death experience for 65% of people. Others feelings include feeling out of the body, rushing toward a mystical brilliant  light, moving rapidly through a passageway or up a staircase.

A DEBATE WITHOUT RESOLUTION

Most people who experience the NDE cannot be convinced that what they went through was not real, and it is proof for them that there is life after death.

LIFE REVIEW

The review of one’s life was common in 62% of the cases. Some felt like they were witness to every event and detail of their lives. In some cases, a small kindness turned out to be significant.

“For there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.”                                  Matthew 10:26

In this life review, the person can see what s/he did in life that really matters to God. Ultimately, what matters to God is how we treat others. Do we love unconditionally the way God loves us? Are we living a life for ourselves, fulfilling our desires but maybe not what God wants for us, OR are we living a life that allows God’s will to be done. That is, are we living a life for His purpose or ours?

Paul was reflecting on his own Near Death Experience: Continue reading NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES

THE FOOLISH UNPREPARED

PARABLE OF THE WISE AND FOOLISH BRIDES MAIDS                                                                                       end times                                                                                Matthew 25.1-13 (AO32)

Why did the five “wise” bridesmaids not share their extra oil with the “unwise” or “foolish” ones whose lamps began to flicker around midnight? It would have been the charitable thing to do.

The story makes it clear that some of the bridesmaids were ill-prepared to participate in the wedding rituals.

The bridegroom was a bit late. The foolish bridesmaids did not have enough oil to keep their lamps burning, so they missed out. Lesson learned.

If I were to improve the story, I would have created another “teaching moment”. I would have had the good ones actually give away some of their oil to the foolish ones to teach about the virtue of “sharing”. It would have achieved two lessons with one story — one about preparedness and the other about generosity.

THE END TIMESend times

The parable is a metaphor for the end-times, that time we find out our final destination.

We are the bridesmaids in the story. We are those who want to take part in the wedding feast that is heaven.

God is the bridegroom who opens heaven’s door, to those who have prepared wisely and well.

It is a time we are each on our own. We are either prepared for heaven, or we are not. It is a binary decision, with only two possibilities.

By that time, it is too late for last minute fixes or changes. The earthly pilgrimage is ended. We are judged according to our particular situation then, the situation that we have made for ourselves.

A sudden offer of oil from the wise bridesmaids, neither, no matter its abundance or how generously given, is any longer of any benefit to the foolish unprepared.

–Deacon Ricardo Santiago, Notre Dame Cathedral, Ottawa Canada

5 REASONS THE END TIMES ARE UPON US NOWend times

As tensions around the world have increased, the belief that the prophecies in the Bible are talking about modern day is increasingly common. Here’s why.

  1. Chaos in the Middle East: There seems to be an endless stream of tension between Israel and the surrounding countries without any end in sight. The Middle East seems to remain the ongoing focal point of world conflict.end times
  2. The Islamic State: The battles described in scripture are slated to take place in the Middle East.  A small majority of Islamic radicals like ISIS are causing the major problems.
  3. Israel’s Re-emergence: There was a 1948 return of Israel, after a Jewish state was absent from the map for more than 19,000 years as predicted biblically “For I will take you out of the nations; I will father you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land.” Ezekiel 36:24end times
  4. Shifts in Morality: The lawlessness of our culture is increasing and in turn creating a hostile atmosphere. As our culture has secularized and paganized, Christianity, the Church, and Christians have come under increasing attack as “intolerant bigots.” Jesus and Paul prophesied that the destruction of society is a sign that the end times are near. “Most people’s love will grow cold” Matthew 24:12end times
  5. Spread of the Gospel: The Christian gospel continues to be spread in even the most remote and hard-to-reach geographic places throughout the world. “This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14

WISDOM AND LOVEwisdom love

As we believe that we are each made in the image and likeness of God. And with God in us are wisdom and strength that make us ready and prepared for favorable judgment at the end of our days on earth.

wisdom love

But this does not necessarily mean that today, right now, we are all ready to enter into the eternal kingdom of God in heaven.

We are born pristine, with the spirit of God alive and well within us! From our birth, God himself has readied us to join him in heaven.

However, human pride, carelessness, and weakness can lead to bad choices in life, wrong decisions that wipe out our readiness for the kingdom

Thanks to God’s abounding mercy and forgiveness, that readiness for heaven can be restored. But it takes wisdom to discern God’s will and humility to hope in God’s forgiveness.

In the same way that God is love, God is also wisdom itself. Therefore, when one seeks God and welcomes him, one is filled with wisdom and love.

  • “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6
  • “With God are wisdom and strength; he has counsel and understanding.” Job 12-13

Psalm 63 is a beautiful prayer for one who seeks God and yearns for the love wisdom that God brings:

“O God, you are my God, for you I long; for you my soul is thirsting. My body pines for you like a dry, weary land without water. “My soul clings to you; your right hand holds me fast.”

May this yearning always be in our heart so that we are ever ready to meet our God at any hour, on any day.
