THE MAN AND THE MIRACLES
Jesus stood before his disciples as a man of prayer. He spent long periods in prayer and urged his disciples to pray often.
Jesus drives out devils from the possessed and not only heals the lame and the blind, but performs prodigies that tax our power to believe: he walks on the water, quells hurricanes, multiplies bread and replaces the severed ear of a soldier without benefit of surgery.
The way Jesus worked His miracles was in response to the faith of those He healed. Those coming to Him to be cured had to manifest trust in Him and His message and believe that God was indeed working in His ministry. “My daughter … your faith has restored you to health” Jesus tells the woman suffering from a hemorrhage.
In addition, Jesus would not work a miracle in order to induce faith in Him. He demanded a response that was genuine. Mark even says that Jesus could not work miracles if such faith was not present, as he found to be the case when He visited his home town.
Nothing was more important in His eyes than the Kingdom, and He constantly insisted on the need for undivided loyalty to God. Not even family affections must be allowed to interfere with one’s devotion to the Kingdom.
Jesus shows us only the direction in which we should move but does not provide us with a detailed map.
What it means to live under the sovereignty of God could not be spelled out in a list of rules; there had to be room for spontaneity and creativeness. The object is to integrate one’s life and behavior with the purpose of God in the world.

Is supernatural evangelism by healing biblical? Jesus did not rely on words alone to convince people as to who he was. Many times he said that if they did not believe His words then they should believe because of His miracles:“I did tell you, but you do not believe. The miracles I do in My Father’s name speak for Me” John 10:25
When Jesus appeared to His disciples, He gave them the Great Commission: “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. And these signs shall follow them that believe; in My name shall they cast out devils …they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Mark 16:15, 18 Jesus also said: “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in Me will do what I have been doing”. John 14:12
We fail to do it the Jesus way because we are afraid of failure and embarrassment, which is natural. Remember all of the direction given in the Last Great Commission: It includes a missionary effort. Continue reading JESUS TAUGHT HEALING
