WELCOME TO GOD

GETTING TO KNOW GOD

Jesus Christ

From the beginning God created man to love Him, be God to Him and bless Him. Because of Jesus, we can now come with confidence before Him. Hebrews 4:16 states, “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Let us begin your journey to know God: so WELCOME TO GOD!

Being a Christian

Welcome to God’s Kingdom…

The difference between being a Christian and every other religion is very simple. Religions invite you to work at a system of beliefs and practices to earn peace and ease and satisfaction. Being a Christian is about having a relationship with the living God and creator of the universe, Jesus Christ. God is truly amazing. And by giving yourself to Him, you are now beginning the most exciting and wonderful part of your life! God really, really loves you! And He and all of heaven are so excited that you have reached out to know Him. The book of Luke, tells us the angels in heaven are rejoicing and celebrating that you have come into God’s Kingdom. Luke 15:10 The book of Zephaniah says this: The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy. Zephaniah 3:17

THE MAGIC OF THE EUCHARIST

The Eucharist in the Life of St. Faustina

There was a very special place for the Holy Eucharist in the life of Saint Maria Faustina.  Holy Communion was the strength and support of St. Faustina in her every day struggle of life. The Lord told her: “In the Host is the power; it will defend you always.        Diary 616

EUCHARIST Faustina

It was only Saint Faustina to whom Jesus gave explicit instructions to write His words regarding the new devotion that He wished to establish in the world. This diary is an actual record of Jesus’ words to St. Faustina.

A  regular experience for  St. Faustina was the vision of the Lord during Holy Mass. Over sixty such visions are recorded in her diary, mostly of the infant Jesus, a few occasions with the Blessed Mother, and at other times, Jesus during His passion and some of His majesty.

Some dozen times she records seeing the rays of mercy as in the image of the Merciful Savior coming from the Holy Eucharist, at times covering the world         Diary of St. Faustina  420, 441, 1046

Again and again, Jesus told St. Faustina that He had chosen her period in history to pour out His mercy upon mankind, in preparation for His Second Coming. Thus, she saw that her state of “living host” was a pure, unmerited gift of Divine Mercy.

She had a special relationship to the Holy Eucharist, because Jesus gave her a clear understanding of this mystery. She describes it “as the wonderful gift of His presence on earth”. During Mass, “I thanked the Lord Jesus for having redeemed us and for having given us the greatest of all gifts, the Holy Eucharist”. “You wanted to stay with us, and so you left us yourself in the Sacrament of the Altar, and you opened wide your mercy to us. You opened an inexhaustible spring of mercy for us, giving us your dearest possession, the Blood and Water, that gushed forth from Your Heart”                                                   Diary 1747

“On leaving the earth, O Lord, You wanted to stay with us, and so You left us Yourself in the Sacrament of the Altar, and You opened wide Your mercy to us.”                                                                        Diary 1747

Jesus said, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”                                                            John 6: 51

Just as the living Father sent Me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on Me will live because of Me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”                         John 6: 57,58

CAN A SMART PERSON BELIEVE IN GOD?

 BELIEVE IN GOD?

Believe in God

The truth is every one of us “believes”.  Everyone of us has “faith”. What divides us is we believe in a different God.

According to a poll in 2000 by Princeton Survey Research Assoc., 94% of us believe in the existence of God. In fact, over the last 50 years the percentage of Americans have never dropped below 90%*.

The irony is that secular humanists who see themselves as smart, free-thinking realist and believers in God as dim-witted, superstitious sheep.

Most people today prefer the word spiritual, which connotes a truly personal relationship with God, one that’s unburdened by dogma and ceremony.

This author,  Michael Guillen , Can a Smart Person Believe in God?,  believes spirituality and religiousness transcends what the mind alone cannot understand fully.  The totally rational or dualistic mind invariably misses the point, and just calls things it does not understand wrong or stupid.

Look at the biologists who study the human eye retina but cannot give any credit to the spectacular design, except  for a mindless purposeless universe.  They cannot relate to God any more than fish can to a warm fire.

Then we come to the practical atheist: someone who believes in God but lives as if he or she doesn’t. They avoid discussing God or religion and avoid reading anything spiritual.

For those who believe that the universe was nothing more than a breathtaking accident consider the following:

  • Belief in God has nothing to do with intelligence.
  • Science has never been able to prove that God doesn’t exist.
  • Be polite! If someone cooks you a great meal, have the courtesy to thank that person. Why would you not do the same concerning our universe.

RELEASE OF THE SPIRIT

THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Inner Spirit
Just as we are dressed in clothes, so our inward person “wears” an outward person: the inner spirit “wears” the psyche.  And similarly, the inner spirit and psyche “wear” the body.

It is quite evident that men are generally more conscious of the outer or outermost person, and they hardly recognize or understand their inner spirit at all.

Watchman Nee, the author of  The Release of the Spirit has correctly identified  the Bible reference of man’s inner spirit or the inner man (person); he calls man’s soul (psyche) the outer man (person) and for the body he uses the term, the outermost man:

“I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being.”           Ephesians 3: 16

The Inner Spirit

We may be able to mouth the word, Not my will but Thine be done,” but how often do we really allow the Lord to take over when things happy.” The person who loves his life will lose it, while the person who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. “                                                                                                                                                   John 12:25

UNGODLY SUPERSTITIOUS BELIEFS

 UNGODLY FALSE BELIEFS

Ungodly Superstitious Beliefs
Ungodly Superstitious Beliefs

The lure of ungodly superstitious beliefs or the occult is almost always on the basis of acquiring knowledge or power. The New Age movement has returned as it has so many times before. It is NOT a sect, a religion, a single organization, a science or a philosophy. It stems from a yearning for an age of freedom from the evils afflicting the world. It is called a movement in order to indicate that it is a network of individuals and groups who share a world-view and a common desire to change the world.  In the Christian world, this is known as Ungodly Superstitious Beliefs.

“See to it that no one captivate you with an empty, seductive philosophy according to human tradition, according to the elemental powers of the world and not according to Christ.”                                                                                                                                       Colossians 2:8

ungodly false beliefs

Many in this movement are less inclined to obey external authority and they think of religion in a way that leads to the notion that the self is sacred and to an exaggerated idea of freedom and self-reliance. Faith in God is often abandoned, except perhaps as a tool for self advancement.

A society which has undergone a breakdown of faith in the Christian tradition leans on the unlimited progress of science and technology through knowledge. The New Age movement claims to be able to acquire this knowledge in an esoteric way through such methods as dream analysis or through the medium of a “spiritual master.”

For the New Age devotee, spirituality means the use of the powers of nature and of an imaginary cosmic “energy” to communicate with another world and to discover the fate of an individual, or to help to make the most of oneself.

The New Age does not believe in a God, does not believe in good or evil, has no room for judgment or blame, and holds that belief in evil is negative and causes only fear. It also fails to distinguish between God who created the universe and the universe He has created.

Examples of the titles of the New Age programs are listed below:

. Dreams: “Our Cosmic Connections,”                                                  · Focusing:  Doorway to the body-life of spirit
· Reiki training
· Eco-Spirituality
· Star in My Heart with Sophia and She is God
· Reflexology
· Praying with Kabir
· Centering Prayer
· The Enneagram
· Dancing with the Cosmos
· Creation-Centred Spirituality

Christianity, on the other hand, is an invitation to look outwards and beyond, to the “new Advent” of the God who calls us to live in the dialogue of love.

God commands us to have nothing to do with anything that smacks of involvement with the spirit world through the use of mediums, séances, Ouija boards, horoscopes, tarot cards, channeling, etc. He considers all of these an abomination (Deuteronomy 18:9-12; Isaiah 8:19-20; Galatians 5:20;  Revelation 21:8), and those who involve themselves in such things invite disaster.

In the old testament, God considered the occult practices of contacting the spirit world for wisdom or guidance for the future an abomination worthy of judgment in Moses’ time.                                                                                                                                                   Deuteronomy 18:9 12     Sometimes one can become possessed by starting to watch some sort of occult on television.

A TRUE STORY

In Chisasabi, Quebec at James Bay, a young native boy was completely possessed. His mother and father were holding on to him with both arms.

A minister who attempted to deliver him from his tormenter (an evil spirit) had problems in deliverance. Finally, he said, in the name of Jesus, tell me your name. No answer! Then afterward at the end of the evening, the boy blurted out, “Tupac forever!”. The evil spirit in him had to obey Jesus’ command to reveal his name. The father realized that the boy wore a Tupac or 2pac belt. When the belt was taken away, deliverance was successful. The rap singer, Tupac, who died prematurely, had been using satanic lyrics. The parents destroyed all the paraphernalia, which was kept in their child’s room or which was worn.

Do you not realize that everything that goes into a person from outside cannot defile, since it enters not the heart but the stomach and passes out into the latrine?” (Thus he declared all foods clean.) But what comes out of a person, that is what defiles. From within people, from their hearts, come evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, licentiousness, envy, blasphemy, arrogance, folly. All these evils come from within and they defile.”                                                                                           Mark 7:18-23

IMPORTANT BAPTISM of the HOLY SPIRIT

BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

BAPTIZED IN THE HOLY SPIRIT” …you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”                                 Acts 1: 5

Paul’s main argument is this: isn’t it true that you experienced the work of the Spirit among you.  “… does God give you His Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?”                                                           Galatians :1-5

“I will send you what my Father has promised, but you must stay in Jerusalem until you have received that power from heaven.”                                                                                                                                             Luke 24: 49

“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever. He is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive Him because it doesn’t see Him or know Him. But you do know Him, because He remains with you and will be in you.”                                                                                                                                         John 14:16-17

We know that we live in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.”                                                                                      1 John 4:13

Christians begin to experience something different in their  God prefers to give the gift of prophecy to a body through an individual, not to an individual for his own use. So that each spiritual gift is a working of the Spirit which is given to build up the Church. “For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body… and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.”      Corinthians12:13

“And John came and laid hands on them ‘and they received the Holy Spirit Acts 8:17 Some experienced a deep peace or joy.  Some even laughed. Some experienced one’s whole life begins to change completely different.

” 4Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit...

 8For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

 9To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

10To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:  11 But all these worketh that one and the self same Spirit.”                        1 Corinthians 12:4,8-11

Paul emphasizes the need to seek spiritual gifts. A community of Christians need special gifts from God to know the Bible in order to preach it. They need to have their preaching accompanied by signs so that others will believe.

And he preached, saying, One cometh after me, that latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and loose. 8. I indeed have baptized you with water: but He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.”  Mark 1:7-8  In other words, Jesus is the baptizer with the Holy Spirit.

AMAZING COMING GLORY

 THE COMING GLORY

God still wants us to live in glory. It is possible to live in this coming glory through a relationship with Him. “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, … lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power.” 2 Timothy 3: 1, 2, 4

Some Christians will attend church, listen to God’s Word and talk about God’s Word and even boast about the saving grace of our Lord, but they reject the power that could truly make them holy. They emphasize the goodness of God at the expense of the fear of God.

The fear of the Lord is a much misunderstood concept. It does not involve abject terror or dread of divine justice. In the Old Testament, the Hebrew word used for this fear is yirah, which denotes piety and reverence.

God’s wonderful love and goodness should inspire awe and worship in our hearts.  Yet “in Him we live and move and have our being”  Acts 17:28  God’s Majesty does not keep us from Him because He willingly humbles Himself to fellowship with us Psalm 113:4-9; 138:6

“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory.”                                                                                                          Isaiah 6:3

“For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.”        2 Chronicles 16:9 We need obedience toward the heart of our Master. We must lay all else aside, including hidden agendas or motives, otherwise the outcome is shallow and non-productive.  A person with a religious (evil?) spirit is one who uses the Word to execute one’s own will and work one’s own desires into it.

Unless the LORD builds the house,
   the builders labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain.                                             Psalm 127:1

Now we come to the question of passing God’s test of obedience:  “Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. And the scripture was fulfilled that says, ‘Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,’ and he was called God’s friend.”             James 2:21-23

Abraham proved his fear by esteeming God’s desire as even more important than his own. God knew if Abraham passed the test, he would pass them all. So to fear God is to believe God. To believe God is to obey Him. “The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.”                                           Psalm 25:14

DELIVERANCE FROM EVIL SPIRITS ASSURED

Deliverance from EVIL SPIRITSdeliverance evil spirits

This is the time to rebuke every spirit that hinders you from going ahead. It is time to squeeze the sacrifice in order to let the anointing flow: an anointing to develop your gifts; an anointing that will pay the way for your greatness; an anointing of deliverance!  This is called Deliverance from Evil Spirits.

WHAT IS DELIVERANCE?

deliverance is

Deliverance is defined as “a rescue from bondage or danger.” Deliverance is often sought from evil spirits or the spirit of lust, jealousy, etc. We are told to “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith.”                                                                                                                                                  1 Peter 5:8,9

All aspects of deliverance are available only through the person and work of Jesus Christ:” When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, ‘Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!’”                                                                              Luke 10:17

 DO YOU NEED DELIVERANCE?

To determine if you are in need of deliverance, ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Are you continually argumentative or contrary–usually on the verge of anger?
  2.  Are you violating, neglecting or causing pain in a relationship?
  3.  Are you practicing sin and can’t seem to stop?
  4. Do you see a pattern of issues in your family, whether disease, poverty, anger, divorce, sexual perversion or other issues?
  5. You are sick all the time and the doctors find nothing wrong. You could be dealing with a spirit of infirmity?
  6. Are you having “spiritual” encounters, including recurring  dreams/nightmares that you leave you fearful?
  7. Do you sometimes sense that the problem isn’t you, but rather something in you?
  8. Are you attracted  to the occult. , e.g. Ouija Boards, Seance, Fortune Telling, Horoscopes, Hypnosis etc, or Witchcraft?
  9. Have you experienced traumatic events that have impacted your life negatively?
  10.  Do you keep hitting the same wall.

HEALING OF RELATIONSHIPS

DEMONIC INFLUENCES

Many of us have demonic influences within us, but we also have the dashing prince. Before the Prince can save the damsel in distress, he has to slay the dragons that surround the castle. These demons are our wounds, our fears from our egos. A good example is women who always seem to meet emotionally abusive men. The problem is that these women have always known that pain. They almost feel comfortable with that pain. Their demons must be bound and delivered away: the spirits of poor unforgiveness, self-esteem, trauma and fear.

Sometimes the moment the pain is greatest is a wonderful opportunity: we might actually make a slip and ask Heaven for help. You decide that you need to be healed. A process of miraculous change takes place which is twofold:

  1. I see my error or dysfunctional pattern
  2. I ask God to take it from me: “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”                                                                                                 1 John 5:14

The healing must happen. They then learn to pray for each other and for the healing of relationships: to reignite one’s love. What is required is deliverance.

What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?                                                  James 4:1

As victims of a sin-nature, we tend to be blind to our own sins and at the same time we are driven to blame our spouse or anyone else for own bad behavior.  As Christians, we are called to examine our own personal flaws and to respond to our spouse with understanding and compassion.

healing relationships deliverance

Unfortunately, many justify their action by telling ourselves, “I can’t help it!”, which is a myth or a lie.  Another reason for arguments is that we too easily give in to our own negative feelings.  Jesus called us to rise above our feelings, not to allow them to dominate our will and to continue loving no matter what.

Another flaw in our thinking is something called, “weather proofing” our relationship, which is an arrogant attempt to change one’s spouse into a perfect fantasy in one’s mind of what a spouse should be.  What a dangerous illusion!  One partner may foster conflict by thinking the other has an evil intent, which is usually not true. When one judges in this way, one is putting on a superiority: he or she is not good enough for me.  Remember only God has the right to judge.

This feeling that the spouse is deliberately out to wound the other, leads to insecurity, which in turn leads to low moods; these low moods cause the spouse to lose one’s warm feelings, which in itself is destructive. It is really a cry for help.

If one spouse is in a low mood, it is very difficult to use reason.  That spouse has lost touch with logic and has lost sight of reality. Conversely, as one’s spouse begins to feel more secure, one’s mood begins to rise and one will once more break out into the sunlight. Hope is the usual medicine.

When both are in a high mood again, and can think clearly, both should discuss what happened and try to practice a new strategy.  To avoid this pitfall, both must agree to inform the other when one is in a low mood before it explodes.  It must be agreed on how each should react to respond to a partner’s  low mood.

We know that men and women think and act differently. We also know that two partners may come from totally different family backgrounds and experiences.  Despite these differences, it would be ideal if both partners begin to change. Even if only one makes the effort, there is usually a wonderful response by the other.

If one’s attitude is excitement at the spouse’s way of seeing the world, one will continue to be in a high mood, constantly stimulated by the partner’s ideas and never feeling threatened by them.

INCOMPATIBILITY

We should discard all false notions of “incompatibility”, which is a myth and an feeble excuse to avoid real commitment.  Christians can love one another whether they are compatible or not in the eyes of the world.

A perceived problem is in fact a state of mind, which can manufacture a problem out of anything or even out of nothing.  A change of heart  is necessary.  We have available to us even a higher spiritual change of heart, which prompts us to “lay down my life” for the other. John 10:15 This can only occur with the help of the Holy Spirit. It means that daily we submit ourselves to the will of God — accepting Jesus Christ as one’s personal Lord and Saviour and following in His footsteps and if necessary carrying  His cross.

This leads to true conversion: the husband begins to live for his wife instead of for himself, while his wife begins to live for him, rather than for herself.  If I “lay down my life” for my wife and live for her happiness, I need never worry, since it is very likely that she will do the same thing in turn for me.  The result is that my wife’s needs will be met and my needs will also be met. Instead of living a self-centred life, I live an other-centred life, and I am empowered to do this because I live for God first.

“Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”                                                                                   Philippians 2:1-4

“Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, ‘children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.’ Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.”                                                              Philippians 2:14-15

  • The first step usually begins with an ordinary counseling session to find out how the partners feel about themselves and their relationship.

Much of what holds people back in life is their unresolved feelings and judgments regarding their relationships, even relationships in the distant past. These feelings and judgments act as a kind of dam, holding people’s feelings back, arresting them in place, influencing their perception of other people and disabling them from being able to be emotionally open. Psychologist Roger Barrett, Ph.D., of Canton, Ohio, says that negative feelings are like a cork that needs to be popped in order to begin letting out the good feelings. In time, anger becomes forgiveness; despair leads to declaration. In other words, gambling addiction is nothing more than a symptom that goes deeper.

GAMBLING ADDICTIONAddicted gamblers have lived with incredible emotional pain for years. Most come from troubled homes. “Easily 80 percent of our gamblers come from alcoholic or addicted homes where their parents were poor role models. Therefore, the child never learns control.

Gamblers Anonymous estimates that there are at least 10 million problem gamblers in the United States. By extrapolation, Canada suffers from 1.2 million problem gamblers.

There are huge costs to the family: financial losses in addition to profound wounds of the heart and soul. For example, 11 percent of wives of gamblers attempt suicide and 25 percent of children of compulsive gamblers have behavior and/or adjustment problems. Many go on to become addicted to gambling.

As time goes on, the gambler is no longer betting just in order to win, but instead to recover growing losses. Gamblers refer to this as “chasing,” the frantic pursuit of lost money. And in order to recoup, they take bigger and bigger chances leading to more and more losses.

The compulsion has already sent a deep wedge between the gambler and God. Now the addiction drives the gambler to do things he or she never would have considered before. These could include theft, embezzlement, prostitution, drug trafficking and other activities. Despair and depression increase, leading to confusion and panic that instigate poorly calculated bets, causing even more losses.

Some wind up in mental institutions or jails or living on the street. One out of every five players attempts suicide. Many gamblers, however, reach recovery.
