EVANGELIZATION

EVANGELIZATION

THE PRINCIPAL AGENT OF MISSION

The coming of the Holy Spirit makes them witnesses and prophets   Acts 1:8; 2:17-18. It fills them with a serene courage which impels them to pass on to others their experience of Jesus and the hope which motivates them. The Spirit gives them the ability to bear witness to Jesus with “boldness.” When the first evangelizers go down from Jerusalem, the Spirit becomes even more of a “guide,” helping them to choose both those to whom they are to go and the places to which their missionary journey is to take them.

EVANGELIZATION

MAKING THE WHOLE CHURCH MISSIONARY

The Holy Spirit, who distributes His gifts as He wishes for the good of all, provides the tools needed to do missionary work such as the gift of healing. Christ stirs up a missionary vocation in the hearts of individuals, and at the same time raises up in the Church those institutes which undertake the duty of evangelization, which is the responsibility of the whole Church, as their special task.”  Evangelization will never be possible without the action of the Holy Spirit.

Peter explains this event as the fulfillment of the prophecy of Joel: “I will pour out my spirit.” (Acts 2:17) Peter is filled with the Holy Spirit so that he can speak to the people about Jesus, the Son of God. (Acts 4:8) Paul too is filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 9:17) before dedicating himself to his apostolic ministry, as is Stephen when he is chosen for the ministry of service and later on for the witness of blood. (Acts 6:5, 10; 7:55) The Spirit, who causes Peter, Paul and the Twelve to speak, and who inspires the words that they are to utter, also comes down “on those who heard the word.” (Acts 10:44)

It is in the “consolation of the Holy Spirit” that the Church increases. (Acts 9:31)The Holy Spirit is the soul of the Church. It is He who explains to the faithful the deep meaning of the teaching of Jesus and of His mystery. It is the Holy Spirit who, today just as at the beginning of the Church, acts in every evangelizer who allows himself to be possessed and led by Him. The Holy Spirit places on his lips the words which he could not find by himself, and at the same time the Holy Spirit predisposes the soul of the hearer to be open and receptive to the Good News and to the kingdom being proclaimed.

Without the Holy Spirit the most convincing dialectic has no power over the heart of man. Without Him the most highly developed schemes resting on a sociological or psychological basis are quickly seen to be quite valueless.

EVANGELIZATION

Evangelii Nuntiandi

It must be said that the Holy Spirit is the principal agent of evangelization: it is He who impels each individual to proclaim the Gospel, and it is He who in the depths of consciences causes the word of salvation to be accepted and understood. But it can equally be said that He is the goal of evangelization: He alone stirs up the new creation, the new humanity of which evangelization is to be the result, with that unity in variety which evangelization wishes to achieve within the Christian community. Through the Holy Spirit the Gospel penetrates to the heart of the world, for it is He who causes people to discern the signs of the times- signs willed by God- which evangelization reveals and puts to use within history.

OF HIS HOLINESS POPE PAUL VI (December 8, 1975)

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”                                                                                                                                       Romans 15:13

THE MAGIC OF THE EUCHARIST

The Eucharist in the Life of St. Faustina

There was a very special place for the Holy Eucharist in the life of Saint Maria Faustina.  Holy Communion was the strength and support of St. Faustina in her every day struggle of life. The Lord told her: “In the Host is the power; it will defend you always.        Diary 616

EUCHARIST Faustina

It was only Saint Faustina to whom Jesus gave explicit instructions to write His words regarding the new devotion that He wished to establish in the world. This diary is an actual record of Jesus’ words to St. Faustina.

A  regular experience for  St. Faustina was the vision of the Lord during Holy Mass. Over sixty such visions are recorded in her diary, mostly of the infant Jesus, a few occasions with the Blessed Mother, and at other times, Jesus during His passion and some of His majesty.

Some dozen times she records seeing the rays of mercy as in the image of the Merciful Savior coming from the Holy Eucharist, at times covering the world         Diary of St. Faustina  420, 441, 1046

Again and again, Jesus told St. Faustina that He had chosen her period in history to pour out His mercy upon mankind, in preparation for His Second Coming. Thus, she saw that her state of “living host” was a pure, unmerited gift of Divine Mercy.

She had a special relationship to the Holy Eucharist, because Jesus gave her a clear understanding of this mystery. She describes it “as the wonderful gift of His presence on earth”. During Mass, “I thanked the Lord Jesus for having redeemed us and for having given us the greatest of all gifts, the Holy Eucharist”. “You wanted to stay with us, and so you left us yourself in the Sacrament of the Altar, and you opened wide your mercy to us. You opened an inexhaustible spring of mercy for us, giving us your dearest possession, the Blood and Water, that gushed forth from Your Heart”                                                   Diary 1747

“On leaving the earth, O Lord, You wanted to stay with us, and so You left us Yourself in the Sacrament of the Altar, and You opened wide Your mercy to us.”                                                                        Diary 1747

Jesus said, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”                                                            John 6: 51

Just as the living Father sent Me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on Me will live because of Me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”                         John 6: 57,58

AMAZING BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

HAVE YOU EVER HAD BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT?

“Someday, after mastering the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love, and then, for a second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire.”                                                                                      Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE?

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is not a sacrament, but it is related to several sacraments. It is God’s answer to this malfunctioning that has grown up in the Christian life in the Sacrament of Baptism. We believe that being Baptized in the Holy Spirit makes real and revitalizes our baptism.

I. You First must be “Born Again”:

BAPTIZED IN THE HOLY SPIRIT

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”                                                                                                                                         John 3:16
