PRAYERS ANSWERED

PRAYER SURVEY

Newsweek’s own nationwide survey discovered:

  1. A stunning 87% of all Americans believe that prayer is answered by God.
  2. 82% asked for heath or success for a child or other family member when praying.
  3. 75% asked for strength to overcome personal weakness
  4. 85% don’t turn away from prayer even after prayers are not answered.

It has also been reported that all but a few medical doctors believe in God and 69% of doctors pray from time to time.

The real message is that prayer is truly of preeminent importance today.

WHY PRAY?

Why would God, who knows everything, ask us to pray when He already knows our needs before we ask?

Actually, prayer comes very naturally to us. There is even a yearning in our most innermost being that leads us to prayer. Where does this deep compulsion originate?

God designed us so that we might wish to know and be more like Him. We are “wired for God”. St. Augustine said,”You have made us for Yourself; and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in you.” We have been created for a purpose: to know, love and serve our God. So God wills us to develop an intimate fellowship with Him.

So we need to spend time together in silence and in the most intimate kind of discourse. Our prayer should be a deep soul conversation with our Creator, which was designed from the beginning.

Prayer in a community is also part of God’s plan, “where two or three are gathered in My name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:20 In fact, there is more power in this form of prayer.

MIRACLE HOUR

THE MIRACLE HOUR
THE MIRACLE HOUR

…Could you not keep watch for one hour?”  Mark 14:37

Do you have problems with commitment to prayer? How about short five minutes segments in an hour? You can also just pray at a few spokes of the wheel.

It’s wonderful to start the day with the Lord, praying in the early hours before work begins. Having a set time and place for prayer has positive benefits, whether it is morning, noon or night.

Consider the “Miracle Hour” as an intensely loving “power encounter” with your heavenly Father. The more you can personalize them, and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you spontaneously in your own words, the more meaningful it will be.

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? Psalm 42:1-2

Let us pray!

THE MIRACLE HOUR
THE MIRACLE HOUR
  1. PRAISE

People of praise are people of faith. Praise draws us into the abundant life in which God created us to live. When we praise God we acknowledge His supremacy in our lives. Praise draws us into His presence even when we don’t feel like it.

Let us praise God in all things. For the next five minutes just forget about yourself and concentrate on God. Between each segment you may wish to say the Our Father prayer or pray in the charismatic gift of tongues.

HOMOSEXUAL ANGER

ANGER

The most significant type of anger influencing the development of homosexual attraction in childhood is anger with oneself. As a result of ongoing rejections by peers, many boys acquire an intense dislike for their bodies and view them as weak, unattractive and unmasculine. This can lead to highly risky and self destructive addictive and sadomasochistic behavior for an intense dislike of them. One can also become obsessed with the bodies of one’s peers who are well-built and muscular. The ultimate expression of self-hatred and aversion to one’s body is seen in those who undergo sex change surgery.

HOMOSEXUAL ANGER

Intense hatred is seen in homosexuals within the media or in the educational, political, ministerial and mental health fields when they attempt to force our culture to change its views on homosexuality. They direct their anger against the Judeo-Christian morality, the nuclear family and the basic differences between men and women.

A homosexual can grow to hate his body as small and weak. In spiritual therapy, his healing can progress by being thankful for his body that God gave him by viewing his soul as much more important as the body and by being thankful for his special male gifts.

HOMOSEXUAL ADDICTIVE DISORDER

The sexually compulsive, highly reckless and life-threatening behavior in a large percentage of homosexuals would indicate the presence of an addictive disorder. While the specific diagnostic category of sexual addiction has not been officially accepted, yet in the mental health field, clinical programs exist for such treatments along with journals of sexual addiction.

HOMOSEXUAL ANGER

In spite of the danger of acquiring AIDS, enormous numbers of males do not protect themselves sexually. One study identified 31% of respondents in sixteen cities had engaged in unprotected sex. One article, “Why Gay Men are having Risky Sex” described the situation as explained and claimed that HIV infections had quadrupled in San Francisco since 1987. In many individuals this behavior is frequently preceded by the use of alcohol and drugs. This situation existed for some because of numerous emotional conflicts.

NARCISSISM

HOMOSEXUAL ANGER

Narcissism or selfishness is another major factor influencing the attraction to the homosexual lifestyle. There is a tendency to not have to make a total commitment to one person. This behavior is almost childlike because it leads to minimal obligations in relationships and few limitations in the pursuit of pleasure. Continue reading HOMOSEXUAL ANGER

HAVING TWO MINDS

TWO MINDS

When Neymar’s Brazil won gold in its home Olympics in 2016, Neymar took the podium to receive his gold medal with a headband reading “100% Jesus.” Yet this ostensible display of devotion caused controversy, given the star player’s out of wedlock son and public love life. Fame and fortune are always dangerous to the Christian.

TWO MINDSThere are those who have two minds because one is wavering or inconstant. This person has no settled principles. He is controlled by passion; he may be influenced by popular feeling. In other words, he is inclined to one opinion or course of conduct, and now to another. “A man is of two minds, unstable in all his ways.”      James 1:8

TWO MINDS

David of the Old Testament commanded that Bathsheba’s husband, Uriah, be put at the front lines of the battle and that the troops be pulled back from him. Just as David had hoped, Uriah was killed. David then took Bathsheba as his wife.

David’s behavior presents a perfect example of a double-minded man. Even though he had God’s Life in his heart and had been “a man after God’s own heart,” he nevertheless chose to go with the tide and follow the lusts of his own flesh over what God was prompting him to do.

TWO MINDS

A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. Are you unstable about your relationship to Christ?

If you lack wisdom, you must ask for it.

NEED FOR FORGIVENESS

 RECEIVING FORGIVENESS

One of the greatest challenges of the spiritual life is to receive God’s forgiveness. There is something in us humans that keeps us clinging to our sins and preventing us from letting God erase our past and offer us completely new beginnings. Sometimes it even seem as though we want to prove to God that our darkness is too great to overcome.

There are two sides to forgiveness: giving and receiving. Although at first sight giving seems to be harder, it often appears that we are not able to offer forgiveness to others because we have not been able fully to receive it. Only as people who have accepted forgiveness can we find the inner freedom to give it. Why is receiving forgiveness so difficult? It is very hard to say, “Without your forgiveness I am still bound to what happened between us. Only you can set me free.” That requires not only a confession that we have hurt somebody but also the humility to acknowledge our dependency on others. Only when we can receive forgiveness can we give it.                                                                                        HENRI NOUWEN

“Should a man nourish anger against his fellows and expect healing from the LORD?
Should a man refuse mercy to his fellows, yet seek pardon for his own sins?

If he who is but flesh cherishes wrath, who will forgive his sins?
Remember your last days, set enmity aside; remember death and decay, and cease from sin. ”                                                            Sirach 28:3-6

NEED FOR FORGIVENESS

One of the hardest things in life is to let go of old hurts. We often say, or at least think: “What you did to me and my family, my ancestors, or my friends I cannot forget or forgive. … One day you will have to pay for it.” Sometimes our memories are decades, even centuries old, and keep asking for revenge.

Yes, we can get attached to these negative identities and even take morbid pleasure in them. It might be good to have a look at these dark feelings and explore where they come from. Henri Nouwen Continue reading NEED FOR FORGIVENESS

PHYSICAL HEALING ASSURED

PHYSICAL HEALING

Jesus Himself did not emphasize the miraculous; He saw physical healing as an ordinary aspect of what He called “works“, rather than miracles: a form of Good News in action. Healing of the spirit, emotion and body was all part of the message of salvation. So the apostles preached by healing and this continues today.

Physical Healing

Most people don’t know that God want to heal them:

“Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. ”                                                                                                                                           3 John 1:2

“They were anointed by the Holy Spirit with power; because God was within them, they cured all who had fallen into the power of the devil. “So the kingdom of God is not just words: it is power.             1 Corinthians 4:19,20 It is power to transform lives. It is Good News

PHYSICAL HEALING

Too many Christians are broken.  They are so broken that they cannot carry out the commandment to love God and their neighbor. Their inner turmoil prevents them from following God’s will.

Paradoxically, they may believe that this illness or brokenness is part of God’s will. So they don’t pray for a release for what God wants of them.

There is a mistaken belief, that you should carry your cross, as Jesus did.  Jesus does say to bear your cross, yet whenever He meets people who are sick, He cures them. This inconsistency can be explained by describing this cross as a cross of persecution, which comes outside of man.

The words healing and peace are synonymous with each other. You cannot have one without the other. The measure of healing is measured by the degree of peace we are feeling.

Physical sickness in our bodies is caused by disease or accident.  Sickness may simply be a message to you to keep your life in balance. Fear, anger, and stress are all barriers to healing.  These states often create illness.  The word “dis-ease” means without ease. This means that mind, heart and spirit are meant to be in balance.

We must use the natural means of preserving health. Physicians are instruments that are ordinarily used to bring about healing for trauma.  Psychology helps to bring problems to the light for what they are. One can administer to the body the necessary supplements and the body will heal itself to an extent. Surgeons can physically repair the body. But the miracle of healing is still by Jesus’ stripes (whippings).
