LONG TERM KETO DIET?

LONG TERM KETO DIET
SHOULD PEOPLE FOLLOW THE KETO DIET LONG TERM?

The ketogenic diet was originally introduced in 1920. Studies suggest that there are definite short-term benefits of a high-fat ketogenic diet. Sugar and highly refined foods are killing us! It is estimated that in the United States alone approximately 300,000 people die each year from obesity-related diseases.

It has been found that a sugary diet is the root cause of various chronic diseases of the body and it accelerates aging. This is cause be a reduction of the amount of antioxidants in the body. Sugar consumption is positively associated with cancer:  tumors are known to be enormous sugar absorbers.

There are many already healthy individuals adhering to it who may find problems in the long run from a less varied diet. Once your condition has improved, it won’t hurt to widen your menu. When cycling in and out of this diet you can still eat healthy – no processed foods but sweet potatoes, lentils etc are okay.

We know how controversial this issue can be. In a 2004 study, 83 obese patients confirmed that it is also safe to use a ketogenic diet for a longer period of time. The study included the additional micro nutrients (vitamins and minerals) which were given to each subject in the form of one capsule per day.

This is important to know about long term advantages because of all the health issues that can be addressed. A link between low fat diets and osteoporosis has been suggested. Very low fat diets are considered to be low in calcium content. Women on low fat diets excrete most of the calcium they consume; therefore, they are more prone to osteoporosis. However, a high fat diet can rectify this situation.

LONG TERM KETO DIET

People are going Keto because they feel better on it. Keto is useful for treating a disease, like epilepsy (children go from 4 seizures a week to 1 a month on a keto diet) or obesity and reversal of diabetes type 2 and a clear complexion without acne! It has been further shown that a ketogenic diet could act as a mood stabilizer in bipolar illness.

PREPARE FOR DEATH

DEATH, A NEW BIRTH

There comes a time in all our lives when we must prepare for death. When we become old, get seriously ill, or are in great danger, we can’t be preoccupied simply with the question of how to get better unless “getting better” means moving on to a life beyond our death. In our culture, which in so many ways is death oriented, we find little if any creative support for preparing ourselves for a good death. Most people presume that our only desire is to live longer on this earth. Still, dying, like giving birth, is a way to new life, and as Ecclesiastes says: “There is a season for everything: … a time for giving birth, a time for dying”                                                 Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

We have to prepare ourselves for our death with the same care and attention as our parents prepared themselves for our births

DEATH IS INEVITABLE: A BAD DEATH IS NOT!

THE TROUBLE IS THAT YOU THINK YOU HAVE TIME!

Henry Nouwen

Still, dying, like giving birth, is a way to new life, and as Ecclesiastes says: “There is a season for everything: … a time for giving birth, a time for dying.”                                                                               Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

We have to prepare ourselves for our death with the same care and attention as our parents prepared themselves for our births.

better death

In our society we are not used to talk about the ‘D’ word. It seems that everyone is doing everything to avoid this topic. We pretend it will never happen to us, and when we lose someone close to us we find ourselves unable to deal with the loss and get paralyzed with fear.

Christianity introduced the greatest revolution in human history, because it invites all humans to let go of their fear of death. We can get on with our divine destiny.

We live in an infantile society in which nearly everyone believes they are entitled to free ice-cream forever with absolutely no consequences. As for death, few believe it will really happen to them. Fewer still have the cognitive skills necessary to prepare adequately for a better death.

Comedian Woody Allen concisely summed up most people’s view of death with this quote:  “I’m not afraid to die. I just don’t want to be there when it happens.”

WHAT CAN YOU SAY?

One of the greatest gifts we can offer our family and friends is helping them to die well. But there is a moment in which we need to give those we love the permission to return to God, from whom they came. We have to sit quietly with them and say: “Do not be afraid … I love you, God loves you … it’s time for you to go in peace. … I won’t cling to you any longer … I set you free to go home … go gently, go with my love.” Saying this from our heart is a true gift. It is the greatest gift love can give.

DEATH BETTER

When Jesus died he said: “Father, into your hands I commit my Spirit”. Luke 23:46 It is good to repeat these words often with our dying friends. With these words on their lips or in their hearts, they can make the passage as Jesus did.

WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP?

YES, LIFE AFTER DEATH

One thing we know for sure about our God: Our God is a God of the living, not of the dead. God is life. God is love. God is beauty. God is goodness. God is truth. God doesn’t want us to die. God wants us to live. Our God, who loves us from eternity to eternity, wants to give us life for eternity.

When that life was interrupted by our unwillingness to give our full yes to God’s love, God sent Jesus to be with us and to say that great yes in our name and thus restore us to eternal life. So let’s not be afraid of death. There is no cruel boss, vengeful enemy, or cruel tyrant waiting to destroy us – only a loving, always forgiving God, eager to welcome us home.                                                    Henry Nouwen

TO DIE ONCE AND THEN THE JUDGMENT?

Jesus taught about Judgment and Heaven and Hell. The Bible clearly teaches that righteous people will NEVER suffer torment because they have a confident hope of IMMORTALITY, and that the wicked will suffer in a fire that NEVER goes out: “(He) will gather the wheat into His garner; but the chaff He will burn with fire unquenchable.”                                                                                         Luke 3:17

When “the single course of our earthly life” is completed, we shall not return to other earthly lives: “It is appointed for men to die once.” There is no “reincarnation” after death in the Bible:  “Just as it is appointed that human beings die once, and after this the judgment.”                                                                                               Hebrews 9:27

Sikhism Reincarnation Biblical

It is also contradicted by our Lord Himself: “You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world.”                                                                                                                                            John 8:23

“Be ready, for the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect” Matthew 24:44 loses not only its effectiveness, but its essential meaning.

Is there a particular reason you think God needs to create us to preexist before our lives here on earth?  If every soul had once pre-existed with God, then Christ wasn’t anything special to have come from God.

What divine  authority on reincarnation claims this? That could just be made up:”I don’t like the idea of Hell so I’m going to choose not to believe in it.” What they see is truly in the eyes of the beholder.

A DISTINCTIVE HUMAN SOUL

life after death

It fails to make the essential distinction between men and animals. Human beings alone are created in the image and likeness of God; and therefore, possess rational and spiritual souls: a human person is a body/soul composite.

Consider a person alleged to have reincarnated; would the person have been himself or someone else, or partly himself and partly someone else? Of course, either alternative is illogical. A human person is a UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL BEING with a spiritual soul and a material body.

EMBRACING THE CHALLENGE OF AGING

challenge aging

Waiting patiently in expectation does not necessarily get easier as we become older. On the contrary, as we grow in age we are tempted to settle down in a routine way of living and say: “Well, I have seen it all. … There is nothing new under the sun. … I am just going to take it easy and take the days as they come.”

But in this way our lives lose their creative tension. We no longer expect something really new to happen. We become cynical or self-satisfied or simply bored. We have become couch Christians.

God is still writing your story.
Don’t let go of your faith because of what you have yet to see.

The challenge of aging is waiting with an ever-greater patience and an ever- stronger expectation. It is living with an eager hope. It is the trusting that through Christ “we have been admitted into God’s favor … and look forward exultantly to God’s glory”     Romans 5:2

A BETTER DEATH 2

DEATHLY SILENCE

Dying people’s wishes are often unknown or ignored. Doctors often neglect palliative care, which involves giving an opioid for pain, treating breathlessness and counseling patients. Most doctors enter medicine to help people delay death, not to talk about its inevitability. But talk they must. A good start would be the wider use of the “Serious Illness Conversation Guide” drawn up by Atul Gawande. It is a short questionnaire designed to find out what terminally ill patients know about their condition and to understand what their goals are as the end nears. Early research suggests it encourages more, earlier conversations and reduces suffering.

Living wills are rare outside America as illustrated by the following set of questions:

The huge gap between what people want from end-of-life care and what they are likely to get is visible in the above survey. A DIVINE NATURE

Jesus enters into partnership with us. He comes to us full of perfect knowledge and unlimited love. God knows all our defects and weaknesses. He knows all that might have been done for us or by us.

GOD'S DIVINE NATURE

The soul becomes capable of living in a higher order and of becoming the agent of acts which are completely beyond it natural possibilities. If a plant were given a true power of sensation, or an animal a true power of reason, this would be like the radical transformation that is produced on our soul by grace: still these examples are inadequate. “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”                                                                                       John 10:10

Ten Regrets in Life 2

REGRETS IN LIFE BY THOSE ABOUT TO DIE

Ten Regrets in Life

  1. “Never pursuing dreams and aspirations”Ten Regrets in Life

  2. “I worked too much and never made time for my family”

Ten Regrets in Life

  1. “I should have made more time for my friends”

  2. “I should have said ‘I Love You’ a lot more”

The importance of love becomes more pronounced towards the end of life. It can be hard to tell someone that you love them, especially if you fear rejection. It’s better to make your love known than to spend the rest of your life dwelling on what could have been.

  1. “I should have spoken my mind instead of resenting things”

In truth, suppressing anger breeds bitterness, which leads to various diseases. Harboring bitterness prevents you from fulfilling your true potential.

When you express negative emotions properly, it allows you to let go of the resentment so you don’t have to carry it for the rest of your life.

  1. “I should have been a bigger person & resolved conflicts”

A lot of times, death beds and funerals are more miserable because of broken relationships that were never restored. This may result in a lifetime of hostility. You should never let your anger last for more than a day. Choose to forgive. Right the wrongs that you can, while you can.

  1. “I wish I had children”

As people age, they often feel lonely and long for the company of their sons and daughters. With today’s modern thinking, kids may be viewed as inconveniences. Keep in mind that your children will be the ones to show you love when you are old.

  1. “I should have saved more money for my retirement”

Failing to plan for the retirement years leaves people destitute in their old age. It’s important to make a plan for yourself. Be careful not to spend too much on things you think you need now; think about providing a comfortable life for yourself in the future.

  1. “Not having the courage to live truthfully”

Looking back, people would wonder whether things would have been better if they were truly honest about whom they really are. They pretend to be someone they’re not.

Honesty is generally admired. If you don’t yet have the courage to be truthful to others, you can start being truthful to yourself.

  1. “Happiness is always a choice; I wish I knew that earlier”

People rarely realize that they can choose to be happy. It’s so easy to play the victim of circumstance. You sometimes pretend to be content, yet you’re too afraid to explore.

Make a choice to have a happy life. Be unafraid of change, and don’t worry about what others think of you. Learn to relax and appreciate the good things.

OUR LIFE AFTER DEATH

What happens after death? Is there life after death?

You’ve died! Now what? Is the best yet to come?

The religious have always looked from this life to the next

What they see is truly in the eyes of the beholder. They can’t all be right.

Life after Death

You should be delighted that there is life after death: you will continue to learn and discover how history turns out.

Everything in the universe has a beginning and end.

It is impossible at present to avoid a decrease of our health during aging. it’s a subject that we all have to deal with, sooner or later.  Unless you get hit by a bus, YOU WILL GET FRAIL! Aging is the accumulated damage of use.

Boomers will lean towards assisted dying to the extent they do not trust end of life care to be timely, and dignified, according to their wishes for treatment, so as not breaking the bank or squandering the inheritances they want to leave to their kids.

It is refreshing to see that we are starting to have a serious public discourse about this important aspect of life. We need to become educated and proactive when it comes to our own health care decisions.

FEAR OF THE AFTERLIFE

Most people are not concerned with death: it is the dying that is troublesome.

The most common affliction is fear...fear of the afterlife, fearing pain in old age, fearing loss of loved ones, accumulations and our comfort zones etc ,etc. Resuscitation attempts, which in many cases, border on the ridiculous, add to this fear. The fear of death is irrational and robs us of enjoying the present moment. The energy wasted on fear is better spent on doing positive things with your life, spending time with family and friends, building relationships, and having fun, come what may.

In elder years, everything slows, and we (should) have leisure time and grace. It is so, because before we pass on to whatever is next, it is very important that we have time to reflect, digest and understand our life as we lived it and the world as we understand it. We need to be in touch with our Creator and who we are. Then we can go peacefully, even if there is pain.

Dying must be is a very lonely experience. No one can do it for you, no matter how much they love you. For this reason, if the dying person believes in “Something” bigger than him/herself, then indeed, this “Something” will be with the person through that most unique passage. It is a belief in a Being bigger than the self that enables the dying process to be less lonely.

The understanding of creation by the Creator is largely goes unnoticed by the majority of the humanity. Experience has shown that persons adopting a conscious living in accordance with the natural laws are living a healthy life which is relatively free of deadly afflictions.

Have you ever attended a “memorial service” to “celebrate the life” of an unbeliever? It is filled with enforced gaiety (“He made people laugh.”) Most attendees don’t know what to do with themselves — they sit in their folding chairs more or less embarrassed by it all. You might end up watching a slide-show on a large, flat-screen TV — it has all the intimacy of an infomercial for time-sharing in Florida. Then you might find yourself asking, “Is this all there is to life?”

Certain religious practices instill a sense of detachment and introspection and meditation to ease ones journey into the unknown.

Better Death Christianity

Word of God

As the Word of God, the Bible is the revelation of the sovereign God who has reached out to us in Christ and in the Bible. Those of us who believe we are not merely biological beings but also spiritual and answer to a Creator must take into account what Scripture says.

The Word of God assures us that the victory accomplished for us by the Lord Jesus means a glorious, eternal inheritance “an inheritance which is incorruptible, undefiled, that fadeth not away, which is reserved in heaven for those who are kept by the power of God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ” I Peter 1:3-5.

As the word of such a God, the Bible alone can give man an adequate understanding, meaning, and hope in the face of the facts and realities of life with its complexities, trials, and losses as with death. “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 1 Corinthians 15:54-57 For one day, there will be a reuniting of believing loved ones in heaven, never to be separated again.  For Romans 8:1 says “there is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus.”

better Death where sting

Conversely, one out of four Americans believe in some form of reincarnation that the soul keeps being recycled, either in a better form of life if you’ve been good, or in a worse form as punishment for evil. But, Scripture plainly teaches, “It is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment”                                Hebrews 9:27.

A small percentage believe that at death, we just cease to exist, like animals. Toil for the things of this earth which will perish is in vain, because you won’t take any of it with you. An unbeliever’s life, even the life of a powerful, wealthy unbeliever, is like the wake of an ocean liner–impressive for the moment, but quickly gone. What hopelessness!

We usually think of death as a terrible loss, not a gain. For the Christian, to die is gain. Can you say truthfully, “For me, to die is gain”? If not, you may need to go back one step and ask, yourself a few questions.

Better Death Die is Gaiin

This quotation really means that a Christian’s death leads to the return on his investment. Death brings you to eternal rewards! A Christian’s death also frees him or her from earthly labors, trials, and temptations. This body holds us prisoner to various temptations and weaknesses, but death sets us free.

The Psalmist in the Bible exclaimed: Show me, O Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is. You have made my days a mere breadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Each man’s life is but a breath. Man is a mere phantom as he goes to and fro: He bustles about, but only in vain; he heaps up wealth, not knowing who will get it.

Then in Psalm 90:12, in view of the temporary life, the Psalmist wrote, So teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. That is, that we may redeem the time, that, through the knowledge and application of God’s truth, we may glorify God and live for Him.

In the Catholic Requiem Mass, the deceased is prayed for as a member of a community of faith in which both the living and the dead find who they really are — this community exists beyond time. This earthly life is but part of life and the end of life is the time when it is believed that as one life ends, a spiritual journey which we do not understand commences.

For many centuries, countless millions of us have prayed each day, “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us at the hour of our death.” They knew they would be scared. But, what we DO want is that after we are gone there will be a few who pray for the repose of our souls.

RISK OF HELLBetter Death Hell

Finally there is the possible reality of hell. Remember the bible story of Lazarus and the Rich Man

Jesus presents the following story: “There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

“So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom. Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’

“But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’

“Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, for I have five brothers that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’

“Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’

“And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’

“But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead’”                                                                                                                             Luke 16:19-31.

This is a commentary on the way we respond to the poor and the oppressed. A love of money may serve you well in this life. But in the world to come, you will surely pay. Here is the sad conclusion of Hell: even though the rich man begs for just one drop of water, Abraham sadly shakes his head. No relief is possible!

The alternative is explained by Paul who says that when he departs, he will “be with Christ,” which is “very much better”. In 2 Corinthians 5:8 Paul teaches that to be absent from the body is “to be at home with the Lord.” It’s a going home experience.

THE SOLUTION

A positive and compassionate response to a dying patient’s needs can be found in good palliative care. Palliative care affirms life while recognizing that death is part of living. Palliative care does not seek to lengthen or shorten a patient’s last days but to make them as rewarding and pain free as possible. The emphasis is on comfort rather that cure. The patient has a say in all decisions about treatments and pain can be relieved to allow patients to die with true human dignity.

If there is a”right to die” it surely should be the right to die naturally rather than to be subjected to a lethal injection.

The probability of one individual fulfilling eight prophecies have odds of 1 in 10 17  (1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000). Jesus Christ fulfilled all prophecies, therefore the Bible MUST BE TRUE.

Christianity experiences stunning growth—from approximately 3.8 million adherents in China in 1956 to an estimated 87 to 100 million Christians today.

CHINA AND THE HOLY SPIRIT

In the end, one Christian conversion will benefit the whole family.  The gifts of the Holy Spirit of healing and deliverance will help the whole family. A prayer of deliverance of evil spirits will leave any member of the family with a complete sense of peace immediately. A prayer of healing from a Christian disciple produces 80% healing. The remaining healing comes from continued prayer of praise and thanksgiving until all the healing is complete. This healing comes from the Holy Spirit through the power in the Name of Jesus Christ.  No other god or deity or doctor uses this power. This proves the TRUTH OF CHRISTIANITY.

BILLIONS OF CHRISTIANS CAN’ T ALL BE WRONG!

AN EXPERIMENT OF GOD’S TOUCH 2

HOW IS JESUS STILL ALIVE TODAY?

Jesus is alive today! He heals today (through His followers) and in many cases it is realized immediately. How else can you explain the explosion of Christianity, the world’s largest religion, on earth: 2.2 billion adherents, nearly a third (31 percent) of all 6.9 billion people on Earth.

Christians know and feel His Presence; they communicate with Him personally; Christian prayers are always answered.

This author has been given the Gift of Healing only because he is a Christian Lay Missionary, who travels  two to three places every year. On his last trip to Columbia he successfully transferred his Gift to his Spanish translators, who were able to heal as he did. He has healed Muslims to their great surprise.

He also delivers away evil spirits along with their healing. All those who are delivered from evil spirits feel a complete physical  sense of peace.

DREAMS AND VISIONS

God can give a message to those non-Christians to change their heart.  God knows faith will be developed eventually. God will come to you in the form of dreams or visions. So be sensitive to any dreams or visions, when you ask God for it earnestly.

The Holy Spirit showers His disciples with numerous gifts including the gift of healing and the power to deliver away evil spirits. He is as active today as He was 2000 years ago. He provides the necessary tools to disciples who are missionary-oriented. This was part of Jesus’ marching orders:

He (Jesus) said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons...they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”                                                                                       Mark 16:  15-18

It does not interfere with the mechanism through which the normal Profit Making Business (PMB) works and prospers capitalization, expert business management, competitiveness etc. but investors here do not receive any dividend, though they can recover their investment if they want to, to reinvest in other Social Business or PMB. The social business is not a charity, because, it returns the original investment back to the investor.

You may well be one of the richest 1 percent owning 40 percent of the world’s assets.

By contrast, the bottom half of the world’s population owns barely 1 percent of the planet’s assets.

While free markets have swept the globe and brought positive change.  We are so conditioned to accept the free-market as it is that we cannot even conceive of it having short-comings. Nevertheless traditional capitalism cannot solve problems of inequality and poverty because of its view of people as one-dimensional beings concerned only with profit. In fact, human beings have many other drives and passions, including spiritual, social, and altruistic.

The satisfaction gained in achieving the social goals are the only motive behind the investment, and the business will be evaluated according to that standard. Essentially it is a non-loss, non-dividend business aimed at social objectives education, health, environment, whatever is needed to address the problems faced by society. The profits here remain with the business and help it to grow further.

The whole thing is based on the premise that entrepreneurs need not be motivated only by the profits they personally receive, but can also be motivated by social goals and may enjoy success there with equal satisfaction. The important thing is not to mix up a Social Business with a PMB. In fact the inclusion of Social Businesses alongside PMBs in the business world will give the free market capitalism a nobler and a more fulfilling purpose. Its advantages over charity are many efficiencies, sustainable continuous use and utilization of business innovations.

This is a far more radical idea than mere corporate social responsibility, which in his mind tends to window-dressing and has an inherent conflict of interest between the requirement to maximize profit and the intention to do good.
