LONG TERM KETO DIET?

LONG TERM KETO DIET
SHOULD PEOPLE FOLLOW THE KETO DIET LONG TERM?

The ketogenic diet was originally introduced in 1920. Studies suggest that there are definite short-term benefits of a high-fat ketogenic diet. Sugar and highly refined foods are killing us! It is estimated that in the United States alone approximately 300,000 people die each year from obesity-related diseases.

It has been found that a sugary diet is the root cause of various chronic diseases of the body and it accelerates aging. This is cause be a reduction of the amount of antioxidants in the body. Sugar consumption is positively associated with cancer:  tumors are known to be enormous sugar absorbers.

There are many already healthy individuals adhering to it who may find problems in the long run from a less varied diet. Once your condition has improved, it won’t hurt to widen your menu. When cycling in and out of this diet you can still eat healthy – no processed foods but sweet potatoes, lentils etc are okay.

We know how controversial this issue can be. In a 2004 study, 83 obese patients confirmed that it is also safe to use a ketogenic diet for a longer period of time. The study included the additional micro nutrients (vitamins and minerals) which were given to each subject in the form of one capsule per day.

This is important to know about long term advantages because of all the health issues that can be addressed. A link between low fat diets and osteoporosis has been suggested. Very low fat diets are considered to be low in calcium content. Women on low fat diets excrete most of the calcium they consume; therefore, they are more prone to osteoporosis. However, a high fat diet can rectify this situation.

LONG TERM KETO DIET

People are going Keto because they feel better on it. Keto is useful for treating a disease, like epilepsy (children go from 4 seizures a week to 1 a month on a keto diet) or obesity and reversal of diabetes type 2 and a clear complexion without acne! It has been further shown that a ketogenic diet could act as a mood stabilizer in bipolar illness.

PREPARE FOR DEATH

DEATH, A NEW BIRTH

There comes a time in all our lives when we must prepare for death. When we become old, get seriously ill, or are in great danger, we can’t be preoccupied simply with the question of how to get better unless “getting better” means moving on to a life beyond our death. In our culture, which in so many ways is death oriented, we find little if any creative support for preparing ourselves for a good death. Most people presume that our only desire is to live longer on this earth. Still, dying, like giving birth, is a way to new life, and as Ecclesiastes says: “There is a season for everything: … a time for giving birth, a time for dying”                                                 Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

We have to prepare ourselves for our death with the same care and attention as our parents prepared themselves for our births

DEATH IS INEVITABLE: A BAD DEATH IS NOT!

THE TROUBLE IS THAT YOU THINK YOU HAVE TIME!

Henry Nouwen

Still, dying, like giving birth, is a way to new life, and as Ecclesiastes says: “There is a season for everything: … a time for giving birth, a time for dying.”                                                                               Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

We have to prepare ourselves for our death with the same care and attention as our parents prepared themselves for our births.

better death

In our society we are not used to talk about the ‘D’ word. It seems that everyone is doing everything to avoid this topic. We pretend it will never happen to us, and when we lose someone close to us we find ourselves unable to deal with the loss and get paralyzed with fear.

Christianity introduced the greatest revolution in human history, because it invites all humans to let go of their fear of death. We can get on with our divine destiny.

We live in an infantile society in which nearly everyone believes they are entitled to free ice-cream forever with absolutely no consequences. As for death, few believe it will really happen to them. Fewer still have the cognitive skills necessary to prepare adequately for a better death.

Comedian Woody Allen concisely summed up most people’s view of death with this quote:  “I’m not afraid to die. I just don’t want to be there when it happens.”

WHAT CAN YOU SAY?

One of the greatest gifts we can offer our family and friends is helping them to die well. But there is a moment in which we need to give those we love the permission to return to God, from whom they came. We have to sit quietly with them and say: “Do not be afraid … I love you, God loves you … it’s time for you to go in peace. … I won’t cling to you any longer … I set you free to go home … go gently, go with my love.” Saying this from our heart is a true gift. It is the greatest gift love can give.

DEATH BETTER

When Jesus died he said: “Father, into your hands I commit my Spirit”. Luke 23:46 It is good to repeat these words often with our dying friends. With these words on their lips or in their hearts, they can make the passage as Jesus did.

WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP?

IS THERE LIFE AFTER DEATH?

YES, LIFE AFTER DEATH

One thing we know for sure about our God: Our God is a God of the living, not of the dead. God is life. God is love. God is beauty. God is goodness. God is truth. God doesn’t want us to die. God wants us to live. Our God, who loves us from eternity to eternity, wants to give us life for eternity.

When that life was interrupted by our unwillingness to give our full yes to God’s love, God sent Jesus to be with us and to say that great yes in our name and thus restore us to eternal life. So let’s not be afraid of death. There is no cruel boss, vengeful enemy, or cruel tyrant waiting to destroy us – only a loving, always forgiving God, eager to welcome us home.                                                    Henry Nouwen

TO DIE ONCE AND THEN THE JUDGMENT?

Jesus taught about Judgment and Heaven and Hell. The Bible clearly teaches that righteous people will NEVER suffer torment because they have a confident hope of IMMORTALITY, and that the wicked will suffer in a fire that NEVER goes out: “(He) will gather the wheat into His garner; but the chaff He will burn with fire unquenchable.”                                                                                         Luke 3:17

When “the single course of our earthly life” is completed, we shall not return to other earthly lives: “It is appointed for men to die once.” There is no “reincarnation” after death in the Bible:  “Just as it is appointed that human beings die once, and after this the judgment.”                                                                                               Hebrews 9:27

Sikhism Reincarnation Biblical

It is also contradicted by our Lord Himself: “You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world.”                                                                                                                                            John 8:23

“Be ready, for the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect” Matthew 24:44 loses not only its effectiveness, but its essential meaning.

Is there a particular reason you think God needs to create us to preexist before our lives here on earth?  If every soul had once pre-existed with God, then Christ wasn’t anything special to have come from God.

What divine  authority on reincarnation claims this? That could just be made up:”I don’t like the idea of Hell so I’m going to choose not to believe in it.” What they see is truly in the eyes of the beholder.

A DISTINCTIVE HUMAN SOUL

life after death

It fails to make the essential distinction between men and animals. Human beings alone are created in the image and likeness of God; and therefore, possess rational and spiritual souls: a human person is a body/soul composite.

Consider a person alleged to have reincarnated; would the person have been himself or someone else, or partly himself and partly someone else? Of course, either alternative is illogical. A human person is a UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL BEING with a spiritual soul and a material body.

THE CHALLENGE OF AGING

EMBRACING THE CHALLENGE OF AGING

challenge aging

Waiting patiently in expectation does not necessarily get easier as we become older. On the contrary, as we grow in age we are tempted to settle down in a routine way of living and say: “Well, I have seen it all. … There is nothing new under the sun. … I am just going to take it easy and take the days as they come.”

But in this way our lives lose their creative tension. We no longer expect something really new to happen. We become cynical or self-satisfied or simply bored. We have become couch Christians.

God is still writing your story.
Don’t let go of your faith because of what you have yet to see.

The challenge of aging is waiting with an ever-greater patience and an ever- stronger expectation. It is living with an eager hope. It is the trusting that through Christ “we have been admitted into God’s favor … and look forward exultantly to God’s glory”     Romans 5:2

A BETTER DEATH

DEATHLY SILENCE

Dying people’s wishes are often unknown or ignored. Doctors often neglect palliative care, which involves giving an opioid for pain, treating breathlessness and counseling patients. Most doctors enter medicine to help people delay death, not to talk about its inevitability. But talk they must. A good start would be the wider use of the “Serious Illness Conversation Guide” drawn up by Atul Gawande. It is a short questionnaire designed to find out what terminally ill patients know about their condition and to understand what their goals are as the end nears. Early research suggests it encourages more, earlier conversations and reduces suffering.

Living wills are rare outside America as illustrated by the following set of questions:

The huge gap between what people want from end-of-life care and what they are likely to get is visible in the above survey. In all four countries the majority of people said they hoped to die at home. But fewer said they expected to do so—and even fewer said that their deceased loved ones had. LIVING IN A HIGHER ORDER

A DIVINE NATURE

Jesus enters into partnership with us. He comes to us full of perfect knowledge and unlimited love. God knows all our defects and weaknesses. He knows all that might have been done for us or by us.

GOD'S DIVINE NATURE

The soul becomes capable of living in a higher order and of becoming the agent of acts which are completely beyond it natural possibilities. If a plant were given a true power of sensation, or an animal a true power of reason, this would be like the radical transformation that is produced on our soul by grace: still these examples are inadequate. “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”                                                                                       John 10:10

”And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”                                                                                                   2 Corinthians 9:8

GOD'S DIVINE NATURE

God gives Himself wholly to the person who gives it wholly to Him. God’s love for men is not merely a love for humanity in general. God is in love with each human individual, personally and particularly. Continue reading LIVING IN A HIGHER ORDER

Ten Regrets in Life

REGRETS IN LIFE BY THOSE ABOUT TO DIE

Ten Regrets in Life

  1. “Never pursuing dreams and aspirations”Ten Regrets in Life

  2. “I worked too much and never made time for my family”

Ten Regrets in Life

  1. “I should have made more time for my friends”

  2. “I should have said ‘I Love You’ a lot more”

The importance of love becomes more pronounced towards the end of life. It can be hard to tell someone that you love them, especially if you fear rejection. It’s better to make your love known than to spend the rest of your life dwelling on what could have been.

  1. “I should have spoken my mind instead of resenting things”

In truth, suppressing anger breeds bitterness, which leads to various diseases. Harboring bitterness prevents you from fulfilling your true potential.

When you express negative emotions properly, it allows you to let go of the resentment so you don’t have to carry it for the rest of your life.

  1. “I should have been a bigger person & resolved conflicts”

A lot of times, death beds and funerals are more miserable because of broken relationships that were never restored. This may result in a lifetime of hostility. You should never let your anger last for more than a day. Choose to forgive. Right the wrongs that you can, while you can.

  1. “I wish I had children”

As people age, they often feel lonely and long for the company of their sons and daughters. With today’s modern thinking, kids may be viewed as inconveniences. Keep in mind that your children will be the ones to show you love when you are old.

  1. “I should have saved more money for my retirement”

Failing to plan for the retirement years leaves people destitute in their old age. It’s important to make a plan for yourself. Be careful not to spend too much on things you think you need now; think about providing a comfortable life for yourself in the future.

  1. “Not having the courage to live truthfully”

Looking back, people would wonder whether things would have been better if they were truly honest about whom they really are. They pretend to be someone they’re not.

Honesty is generally admired. If you don’t yet have the courage to be truthful to others, you can start being truthful to yourself.

  1. “Happiness is always a choice; I wish I knew that earlier”

People rarely realize that they can choose to be happy. It’s so easy to play the victim of circumstance. You sometimes pretend to be content, yet you’re too afraid to explore.

Make a choice to have a happy life. Be unafraid of change, and don’t worry about what others think of you. Learn to relax and appreciate the good things.

A BETTER LIFE

Better Life

The mission of the Church is to offer people a better life. Yet, organizations like churches tend to become preoccupied with day to day problems and pressures.

If you went to an ice cream store and there was no ice cream, there is a problem. A local church community can go year after year with almost no outreach to the “unchurched” in their area and yet think there is no problem. Let me tell you, there is a problem. It may be simply that Christians are not excited about sharing our good news that knowing and following Christ is the best way to live.

In the early days, the Church was unstoppable; they followed a simple strategy. They were courageous in telling their story and they made people feel welcome in their community. They invited people to their outreach events for lack of a proper word. They received help from the Holy Spirit.

But why hasn’t the Glory of the Holy Spirit visited charismatic churches in a big way?

The Holy Spirit showers His disciples with numerous gifts including the gift of healing and the power to deliver away evil spirits. He is as active today as He was 2000 years ago. He provides the necessary tools to disciples who are missionary-oriented. This was part of Jesus’ marching orders:

He (Jesus) said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons...they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”                                                                                       Mark 16:  15-18

CREATING A WORLD WITHOUT POVERTY

A WORLD WITHOUT POVERTY?

Muhammad Yunus, a practical visionary, wrote a book called Creating a World Without Poverty. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for the Grameen Bank and himself.

“Poor people are like Bonsai trees. Society never gave them the soil to grow tall.” — Prof. YunusWorld without poverty

Professor Yunus introduces a totally revolutionary dimension to the free market economy called Social Business. It does not interfere with the mechanism through which the normal Profit Making Business (PMB) works and prospers capitalization, expert business management, competitiveness etc. but investors here do not receive any dividend, though they can recover their investment if they want to, to reinvest in other Social Business or PMB. The social business is not a charity, because, it returns the original investment back to the investor.

You may well be one of the richest 1 percent owning 40 percent of the world’s assets.

World Economic Pyramid WORLD POVERTY
By contrast, the bottom half of the world’s population owns barely 1 percent of the planet’s assets.

While free markets have swept the globe and brought positive change.  We are so conditioned to accept the free-market as it is that we cannot even conceive of it having short-comings. Nevertheless traditional capitalism cannot solve problems of inequality and poverty because of its view of people as one-dimensional beings concerned only with profit. In fact, human beings have many other drives and passions, including spiritual, social, and altruistic.

The satisfaction gained in achieving the social goals are the only motive behind the investment, and the business will be evaluated according to that standard. Essentially it is a non-loss, non-dividend business aimed at social objectives education, health, environment, whatever is needed to address the problems faced by society. The profits here remain with the business and help it to grow further.

The whole thing is based on the premise that entrepreneurs need not be motivated only by the profits they personally receive, but can also be motivated by social goals and may enjoy success there with equal satisfaction. The important thing is not to mix up a Social Business with a PMB. In fact the inclusion of Social Businesses alongside PMBs in the business world will give the free market capitalism a nobler and a more fulfilling purpose. Its advantages over charity are many efficiencies, sustainable continuous use and utilization of business innovations.

This is a far more radical idea than mere corporate social responsibility, which in his mind tends to window-dressing and has an inherent conflict of interest between the requirement to maximize profit and the intention to do good.
