Purgatory, far from being a “Catholic invention” as most Protestants assume, was believed from the very beginning by Christians.
“According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and another man is building upon it. Let each man take care how he builds upon it. For no other foundation can any one lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any one builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw — each man’s work will become manifest; for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work which any man has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire”. 1 Corinthians 3:10-15
This purification purges away all the dross that clings to the soul, things that St. Paul describes metaphorically as flammable materials such as “wood, hay, and straw.” These things are burned away in this judgment by God. Conversely, that man’s good works — which St. Paul compares with “gold, silver, and precious stones” — are refined and retained.
Since there are only two ultimate destinies possible for all human beings, heaven or hell, the issue of purgatory must be understood as simply a part of the process for some souls who are destined for heaven.
In Matthew 12:32, the Lord mentions a sin that cannot be forgiven even “in the world to come,” implying that there are some sins that will be forgiven after death.
Similarly, in the teaching about the Unforgiving Servant, Christ concludes with the fact that the wicked servant, even after his debt was canceled by the king, was thrown into prison for maltreating his fellow servant and told, “You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you besought me; and should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’ And in anger his lord delivered him to the jailers, till he should pay all his debt”. Matthew 18:32-34
Echoing this theme, St. Peter speaks about the souls who are “in prison,” awaiting their entrance into heaven 1 Peter 3:18-19, 4:6.
VISIONS OF PURGATORY
Vassula hears, interiorly
She hears a voice first, then, when she has to write down what she has heard, her writing changes. This describes her visit:
Vassula writes down the messages which she receives in a stately handwriting, quite distinct from her own:
“If you only knew how many souls suffer now in purgatory … deliver them from purgatory to be able to come to Me; they are craving to be with Me, but they are unable to, because of the blemishes on their soul; deliver them by prayers and by sacrifices; deliver them by loving Me, by adoring Me; deliver them by chaining yourself to Me and My Cross; deliver them by acts of love; deliver them by sharing My sufferings;
Vassula, these souls languish for Me and to be united to Me again and forever, but they must purify themselves first before being in My Presence.”
“Those souls in Purgatory are healed, 1 snatched from the purifying fires and can finally come to Me; Vassula, do you know how much they suffer while in Purgatory? their desire to see Me but being unable to? how much they depend on you! ah Vassula, will you help them?” 1 That is: purified.
Yes Lord, I would love to see them with You finally!
“Then in anger his master handed him over to the torturers until he should pay back the whole debt.
So will my heavenly Father do to you, unless each of you forgives his brother from his heart.” Matthew 18: 34,35
“You will be thrown into prison. Amen, I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny.” Matthew 5:25, 26
Prepare your soul, Creation, in advance, do not wait for death to overshadow you; keep your soul clean and without blemish.” You see, heaven is real and hell is real. Eternity is without end. Do you really want to spend eternity without God? Or with God? That choice is yours alone – the decision is yours?
POOR SOULS IN PURGATORY
St. Philip Neri also had a great devotion toward the Poor Souls, and God confided those Souls who had been under his spiritual direction in a special way to his zeal. He revealed that many of his spiritual children appeared to him after their deaths, either to ask his prayers or to profoundly thank him for what he had already done for them. He added that through the Poor Souls he had obtained many graces.
St. Catherine of Bologna often asked help from the souls for whom she frequently prayed. She advised others to do the same, saying: “When I wish to obtain any favor from our Father in Heaven, I have recourse to the souls that are detained in Purgatory. I entreat them to present my request to the Divine Majesty in their own name, and I feel that I am heard through their intercession.”
The great Cure d’Ars, St. John Vianney, likewise encouraged those who consulted him to ask the help of the Poor Souls: “Oh! If it were but known how great is the power of the good souls in Purgatory before the Heart of God! And if we knew all the graces we can obtain through their intercession, then they would not be so much forgotten. We must, therefore, pray much for them, that they may pray much for us.”
What will it be? What will it be?
NOW THIS SEEMS VERY UNFAIR!
Very often the wealthy people are full of pride and they are very materialistic. They have no time for their Creator or their Savior. Their only thought is to make money and to enjoy this money. So they will look for pleasure everywhere and often they will do what is sinful such as adultery, drunkenness and treating people as if they were their slaves.
The only way these rich people can be saved is to help the poor and to follow God. They need to exercise their faith in God and to pray regularly otherwise the evil one will take control of them and he will lead them along the slippery way to perdition. They cannot save themselves on their own; they need God’s help and grace.
God speaks to Choo Thomas, Heaven is so Real: I must purify My people before I bring them to My Kingdom. Unless they are pure hearted, they cannot see My Kingdom. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8
JESUS WISHES TO SPEAK TO YOU
You All Need My Help.
“I love you.
Everything on earth has a beginning and an end. No one lives forever on earth. Each person should think about this: one day I must depart from this world and go to another. No one knows, however, when he or she will die.
The Father, the Creator of everything, has His home in heaven. No human mind has ever described the wonders of heaven. It surpasses to a very great degree the most splendid places on earth.
All human beings are called to enter heaven one day and be happy forever with God, the angels and saints. However, only those who died as My friends and followed My words will enter heaven.
Strive, My brother and sister, with the help of My grace to live in close union with Me and to avoid all sin. If you should sin, repent sincerely and I will forgive you.
There is no salvation for those who die in mortal sin unless they repent. If one dies in venial sin, he or she cannot go to heaven unless one is purified for a time in Purgatory.
The souls in Purgatory can no longer do anything for themselves; they are totally helpless. If the living do not pray for them, they are totally abandoned. Therefore, it is very important to realize the immense power, the incredible power that each one of us has in his hands to relieve these souls who suffer.
The souls delivered by our prayer are extremely grateful: they help us in our lives.
I remind you again that one does not enter heaven on one’s own strength. You all need My help, My grace, to do good. If you accept Me as your partner, I will lead you to the home of Our Father. I love you all.”
The above messages came to Father Melvin Doucette:
Fr. Melvin Doucette was ordained to the priesthood on and joined the Missionaries of Africa for 29 years in Africa. In contemplative prayer every morning, Fr. Doucette receives by interior locution “messages from heaven” to share with the public.
God divinely inspired the BIBLE . How do we know? Each of eight accurate predictions show a high probability mathematically. The probability of one individual fulfilling eight prophecies have odds of 1 in 10 17 (1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000). Jesus Christ fulfilled all prophecies, therefore the Bible MUST BE TRUE.
The Old Testament indicates another 40 astonishing predictions.
Christianity experiences stunning growth—from approximately 3.8 million adherents in China in 1956 to an estimated 87 to 100 million Christians today.
In the end, one Christian conversion will benefit the whole family. The gifts of the Holy Spirit of healing and deliverance will help the whole family. A prayer of deliverance of evil spirits will leave any member of the family with a complete sense of peace immediately. A prayer of healing from a Christian disciple produces 80% healing. The remaining healing comes from continued prayer of praise and thanksgiving until all the healing is complete. This healing comes from the Holy Spirit through the power in the Name of Jesus Christ. No other god or deity or doctor uses this power. This proves the TRUTH OF CHRISTIANITY.
BILLIONS OF CHRISTIANS CAN’ T ALL BE WRONG!
Christianity is not a philosophy, but it is a relationship with God, your Creator, in Christ TODAY. It is not knowledge of abstract principles. How do we know this? Healing takes place TODAY in the Name of Jesus Christ.
Many Christian disciples use the gift of healing. They also use deliverance to deliver away evil spirits influencing people. These evil spirits cause depression, addictions and illness through all forms of stress. Only the Name of Jesus Christ makes healing and deliverance possible.
HOW IS JESUS STILL ALIVE TODAY?
Jesus is alive today! He heals today (through His followers) and in many cases it is realized immediately. How else can you explain the explosion of Christianity, the world’s largest religion, on earth: 2.2 billion adherents, nearly a third (31 percent) of all 6.9 billion people on Earth.
Christians know and feel His Presence; they communicate with Him personally; Christian prayers are always answered.
This author has been given the Gift of Healing only because he is a Christian Lay Missionary, who travels two to three places every year. On his last trip to Columbia he successfully transferred his Gift to his Spanish translators, who were able to heal as he did. He has healed Muslims to their great surprise.
He also delivers away evil spirits along with their healing. All those who are delivered from evil spirits feel a complete physical sense of peace.
DREAMS AND VISIONS
God can give a message to those non-Christians to change their heart. God knows faith will be developed eventually. God will come to you in the form of dreams or visions. So be sensitive to any dreams or visions, when you ask God for it earnestly.
HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED HOW TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN?
- Christians don’t shout, “I live a clean life!” Christians whisper “I feel lost, but now God found me and God forgives me.”
- Christians don’t speak with pride. They confess that they stumble and need Christ to be their guide.
- Christians don’t say,” I’m strong.” They say they try to be strong because they need strength.
- Christians don’t brag about success, but they admit that they fail and they need God to clean the mess.
- Christians don’t claim to be perfect, but God still believes in them.
- Christians still feel the sting of pain. They have their share of headaches but they still call upon His Name.
- Christians are not holier than others. They are simple sinners who receive God’s unbelievable Grace.
Christianity on a Table Napkin:
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
God the Father will wipe every tear from our eyes, and there shall be no more death or mourning, crying out or pain. We will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is The Holy Spirit will have made all things new. Eternal joy will begin. “For the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is His name.” Luke 1: 49
Are we not like Barabbas who was justly condemned for murder, but saved by the innocent Jesus on the cross? Are we not like the adulterous woman, deserving of death by stoning, to whom Jesus says, “I do not condemn you”? And Jesus saved them both. In fact, Jesus came to earth specifically to look for and save those who were lost, like you.
“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool”. Isaiah 1:18
You may need some counseling with a pastor, priest or competent Christian worker, who will introduce you to a Short Course on Who is Jesus? Start by reading a short biography of Jesus in the Gospel of Luke. Read several verses before going to bed and read the same verse upon arising. He will defend you from attacks of the enemy when you ask Him.
