Jesus Himself did not emphasize the miraculous; He saw physical healing as an ordinary aspect of what He called “works“, rather than miracles: a form of Good News in action. Healing of the spirit, emotion and body was all part of the message of salvation. So the apostles preached by healing and this continues today.
Most people don’t know that God want to heal them:
“Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. ” 3 John 1:2
“They were anointed by the Holy Spirit with power; because God was within them, they cured all who had fallen into the power of the devil. “So the kingdom of God is not just words: it is power. 1 Corinthians 4:19,20 It is power to transform lives. It is Good News
Too many Christians are broken. They are so broken that they cannot carry out the commandment to love God and their neighbor. Their inner turmoil prevents them from following God’s will.
Paradoxically, they may believe that this illness or brokenness is part of God’s will. So they don’t pray for a release for what God wants of them.
There is a mistaken belief, that you should carry your cross, as Jesus did. Jesus does say to bear your cross, yet whenever He meets people who are sick, He cures them. This inconsistency can be explained by describing this cross as a cross of persecution, which comes outside of man.
The words healing and peace are synonymous with each other. You cannot have one without the other. The measure of healing is measured by the degree of peace we are feeling.
Physical sickness in our bodies is caused by disease or accident. Sickness may simply be a message to you to keep your life in balance. Fear, anger, and stress are all barriers to healing. These states often create illness. The word “dis-ease” means without ease. This means that mind, heart and spirit are meant to be in balance.
We must use the natural means of preserving health. Physicians are instruments that are ordinarily used to bring about healing for trauma. Psychology helps to bring problems to the light for what they are. One can administer to the body the necessary supplements and the body will heal itself to an extent. Surgeons can physically repair the body. But the miracle of healing is still by Jesus’ stripes (whippings).
WHAT EFFECT DOES EVIL SPIRITS HAVE ON DISEASE?
Migraine headaches can be triggered by guilt (self-hatred) first, resulting from conflict in your life and then fear. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, un-forgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment.
Relationship between Healing & Deliverance
We all our born with a sinful nature. This sometimes gives the devil a foot hold into our lives. People need to be delivered from this hold of Satan.
There is a relationship between healing and the need for deliverance. Many are never healed because they have never received deliverance from the spirits that made them sick. They are obstacles to healing. The sins of the paralytic was the cause of the illness, so the first thing that Jesus did was to forgive his sins. Matthew 9:2
Jesus accomplished two things: “Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons …” Mark 1: 34. Some people simply need healing from the diseases that have made them sick; others need deliverance from the spirits that have made them sick.
Demons are subservient to anyone who has the authority to release these demons. Satan kept his power, but he doesn’t have any authority over God’s power. Satan’s power can only be broken in the Name of Jesus. Jesus gave this authority back to us, especially to those who have been given the gift of deliverance.
We shouldn’t ignore the role demons may play regarding sickness and the demonic signs:
- The most common way that discernment works is through a “knowing” that something is there.
- It is demonic if the sickness affects the spiritual life of the sick. Physically ill people get furious at preaching. In cases where the sick are not experiencing more spiritual growth but getting bitter, angry, and more sinful, then their sickness has a demonic root.
- It is demonic if there are strange occurrences, which doctors often cannot explain or cure.
We are not saying that every disease is caused by a demon. It’s not that common to find illness that’s only totally “natural” or one that’s only totally “demonic”. There’s almost always an interaction between the two. There is a need for both natural healing and demonic healing.
Those who were possessed by evil spirits can be healed. “They cast out many devils, and anointed many sick people with oil and cured them.” Mark 6:13
What is the difference between exorcism and deliverance?
Exorcism is exercised in case of possession. There are very few cases of possession as compared to ever pervading influence of different kinds of evil spirits affecting many people. These demons of possession identify themselves by a title: Say “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I command you evil spirit, to identify yourself: ” Who are you?”
Deliverance deals with the influences that are not full possession. Deliverance is a prayer of freeing a person oppressed by evil spirits, which is relatively common occurrence. It can be described as a part of one’s body, which is under the control of the enemy, e.g. a compulsion such as drug addiction.
The first step is for the minister of healing to pray that the power of the blood of Jesus surround and protect every person in the room: “In the name of Jesus, I pour the blood of Jesus in this room and on everyone in this room.”
It starts with questions about “when did all this start?”, “Do you have any idea why this started?”
Deliverance requires that the minister of deliverance name the evil spirits by their function. These evil spirits are legalistic and they must be delivered in the Name of Jesus Christ by their function, otherwise the specific spirit would simply say “they are not talking to me” and they will stay.
The demons who entered through spiritualism or the occult, are principle demons: they should be driven out first, otherwise they will block any other deliverance.
Several of the spirits sometimes surface and block the prayer of deliverance, so the minister of deliverance prays: “In the name of Jesus, I command all evil spirits residing in you to be quiet and not give you any evil thoughts.” The client need not hear this prayer.
Sometimes it is wise to help by asking the tormented person to cast out the demons themselves: “Say: Get out! Cough it out!” If this becomes too exhibitionistic, one can command the evil spirits to be quiet.
FILLING THE VACUUM
Often there is a sense of freedom and joy associated with the deliverance and healing: it’s like the lifting of a weight or pain.
Anything left empty by the departure of the demons should be filled by the presence of Jesus. There should be a prayer immediately after the deliverance to fill the person with God’s love and grace. The client should be taught to break the habitual behavior patterns which originally led to the demonic infestation: “I command evil spirits of … to leave me now, in the name of Jesus Christ. Thank you, Jesus. Praise you, Jesus.”
The person delivered must now thank God for the spiritual healing every day until the total healing has taken place and to thank Him whenever he or she thinks about it.
One must soak oneself in God’s love by reading the Bible: the biography of Jesus in the short gospel of Luke for beginners and later the gospels of John.
Ideally, the person should then become part of a Christian community support for the same reason that alcoholics are asked to become members of Alcoholic Anonymous. The client’s new Christian friends will help one put one’s life into balance.
LONG DISTANCE HEALING
Long distance healing is possible as demonstrated by the centurion, who had a wide channel of self-sacrificial faith and who surprised Jesus: “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.” Matthew 8:10
People, who have a prayer list, and have been sincerely praying will have their prayers answered by a minister of healing in the Name of Jesus Christ. This includes any form of healing from addiction.
This same prayer of deliverance can be used to exhort evil influences on members of your family by name in the same manner with you as the intercessor and with your prayerful Christian. They should be made aware of your prayer as a gentle mention that you have prayed for them so they can become more sensitized to God’s Love.
Deep seated refusal to grant honor (not unbelief) prevented Jesus from exercising His power in His own hometown. So the lack of honor hold the power to restrain God’s Hand. Where people withhold honor from one another, God restrains His Hand.
God works through those practicing medicine: the doctor, the counselor and the psychiatrist are all ministers of healing: “Then give the doctor his place lest he leave; for you need him too. There are times that give him an advantage, and he too beseeches God that his diagnosis may be correct and his treatment bring about a cure.” Sirach 38:12-14
FAITH IN HEALING
There are those who are especially anointed with the ministry of healing, although every believer ought to have a ministry of healing. Christ is the one who does the healing, and upon occasion, He can work through the prayers of any Christian. “Everything is possible for anyone who believes.” Mark 9:23 God wants to share the Holy Spirit with everyone. Every believer ought to take the Word of God to a sick person.
Jesus did not heal all the people of the land: only the ones that came to Him. If one senses that this could be a divine appointment, one can simply ask or say:
- “Do you want to be healed?”
- “Is it okay to pray for you?”
- “Jesus loves you and wants you to be healed.”
DELIVERANCE in the BIBLE
“That at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth” Philippians 2:10
WHO HAS THE AUTHORITY TO DELIVER EVIL INFLUENCES
A faithful Christian who is sinless: otherwise the evil spirits will just laugh at one’s sins.
“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” Luke 10:19 “The one who does what is sinful is of the devil … The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.” 1 John 3:8
HOW DO YOU KNOW A DELIVERANCE HAS TAKEN PLACE?There is a definite sense of physical peace, which envelopes over the one being delivered. You definitely know something has happened.
To our non-Christian friends who are Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Atheist, Taoist, Mormon and Jehovah Witness:
The person being delivered does not have to be Christian. You may be in for a big surprise. We do not know how the Holy Spirit will act. He may grant a healing in order to provide you with a surprise. I t may force you to acknowledge its true Source, Jesus Christ. You will only know by accepting prayers of healing and deliverance: you have every thing to gain and nothing to lose.
There is no one in any non-Christian religious belief that can bind and deliver demonic spirits. There is a reason for this: demonic attacks are obliterated only in Jesus’ Name. It requires a bible oriented Christian to do the deliverance.
Prayer of Deliverance
The following prayer can be done together: the person to be delivered must also pray during “OUR PART“: “Come, Holy Spirit, Come” or “Come, Lord Jesus, Come” silently.
The short form is “In the name of Our Lord Jesus, I bind and deliver the evil spirits of … to go to the abyss.” This is said for each individual evil spirit.
Your Christian friend will command these spirits to go back where they came from (the abyss) to be soon replaced with the Love and Blessing of the Lord: Free in Jesus
This prayer of deliverance can be printed, quartered and kept in your wallet.
Prayer of Deliverance
HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED HOW TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN?
- Christians don’t shout, “I live a clean life!” Christians whisper “I feel lost, but now God found me and God forgives me.”
- Christians don’t speak with pride. They confess that they stumble and need Christ to be their guide.
- Christians don’t say,” I’m strong.” They say they try to be strong because they need strength.
- Christians don’t brag about success, but they admit that they fail and they need God to clean the mess.
- Christians don’t claim to be perfect, but God still believes in them.
- Christians still feel the sting of pain. They have their share of headaches but they still call upon His Name.
- Christians are not holier than others. They are simple sinners who receive God’s unbelievable Grace.
Christianity on a Table Napkin:
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
God the Father will wipe every tear from our eyes, and there shall be no more death or mourning, crying out or pain. We will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is The Holy Spirit will have made all things new. Eternal joy will begin. “For the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is His name.” Luke 1: 49
Are we not like Barabbas who was justly condemned for murder, but saved by the innocent Jesus on the cross? Are we not like the adulterous woman, deserving of death by stoning, to whom Jesus says, “I do not condemn you”? And Jesus saved them both. In fact, Jesus came to earth specifically to look for and save those who were lost, like you.
“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool”. Isaiah 1:18
You may need some counseling with a pastor, priest or competent Christian worker, who will introduce you to a Short Course on Who is Jesus? Start by reading a short biography of Jesus in the Gospel of Luke. Read several verses before going to bed and read the same verse upon arising. He will defend you from attacks of the enemy when you ask Him.
