‘CHEAP SEX’ IS DESTROYING MARRIAGE

A NEW MORALITY OF SEX?

The words of the pope and the Vatican commissions fall for the most part on deaf ears, as is obvious from polls and other indications that even faithful Catholics no longer conform to Church teachings on sex. Vatican efforts against “artificial” methods of birth control have been in vain, and the Church has suffered such a general loss of credibility that its preachments on sex are ignored if not scorned by the overwhelming majority of Catholics.

Christian fundamentalists see it, of course, as a clear indication of the devil’s power over fallen humanity. But their hellfire-and-brimstone warnings reach only a tiny portion.

The enormous increase in the material standard of living, allows people more freedom to experiment.

There is an increasing corruption of morals and unbridled exaltation of sex. In addition, Christians are confused because of the diversity of opinions contrary to the teaching of the Church.

The Church’s position is enunciated in the basic principle, drawn from natural law, that the sexual function has its true meaning and moral goodness only in marriage, so the document of the Church goes on to rule out premarital sex, homosexual acts and masturbation .

Premarital sex is ruled out by the Church even when the partners are deeply committed to each other and are impeded from marrying only by adverse circumstances.

On the other hand, sex has the potential to bring people to the deepest level of intimacy.

CHEAP SEXCHEAP SEX

In his recently released book “Cheap Sex: The Transformation of Men, Marriage and Monogamy,” Regnerus examines the dramatic changes in American sexual beliefs that have led to an inability among increasing numbers of young men and women to marry, have children and be faithful to one another.

Three technological developments — highly effective contraceptives, high-quality Internet pornography and on-line dating/meeting services — have made sex (or sexual release) as easy to get in the U.S. as  water from a tap. Together, they drive down the cost of real sex, and in turn slow the development of love, make fidelity more challenging and have even taken a toll on men’s marriage ability. No longer playing a supporting role in relationships, sex has emerged as a central priority in relationships.

Everything in this new world is instantaneous……..everything is available and at their finger tips! Cheap sex has become like eating fast food. it is a NOW generation. They younger generation has a hard time looking down the road –planning for the future.

There is an emergence of something called Confluent Love”, which is “not forever” love, but love that asks whether this relationship is satisfying for both parties. When one party answers “no,” the relationship does not continue. Confluent love is the new norm that is shaping our dating and marriage relationships. For good or ill, neither partner will be happy with the final result.

In generations past, women generally made men wait until marriage to have sex. To get a wife (and, therefore, sex), men had to be clean and presentable and have a good job. This, Regnerus reasons, gave men all the motivation they needed to become respectable members of society. Nowadays young men can skip the detour of getting education and career prospects to qualify for sex. Now with porn on demand and greater reproductive freedom, sex is a commodity available at any time.

MEN AND WOMEN DIFFERENCES

Men and women are not the same with regard to sex. In general, men have more desire for sex than women. Women desire sex too, but they also want it with love, attention, care and, if they are smart, permanence. Women are the gatekeepers of sex, and even if they don’t want to give it away cheaply, men now expect it and can go elsewhere if a woman does not put out. In other words, if women want male attention, they have to give sex away cheaply because other women do and men won’t hang around if they don’t. It’s a vicious circle which leads to untold numbers of young people who have failed relationship after failed relationship.

WOMEN DIFFICULTIES

Many women tend to be so hungry for love and touch that a little sex may give it to them, and so they may keep men on a chain. As compared to the past, many women today expect little in return for sex, in terms of time, attention, commitment or fidelity. Men, in turn, do not feel compelled to supply these goods as they once did.

Heterosexual women will have increasing difficulties finding a partner worth committing to. This leads women to settle, entering into doomed or otherwise unsatisfying marriages.

Women are getting married less because they are getting higher paying and higher educational jobs. But because women want to marry up, they only want to date the top 20% of men this presents a unique problem when all of the female population wants the same top 20% of men

TRUE LOVECHEAP SEX TRUE LOVE

There are those who still believe in the sanctity of marriage or a solid committed relationship with one partner. They believe in romantic LOVE that is for the long haul. They are usually loyal to whoever they fall in LOVE with. They believe in the old school ways of thinking where people stayed in marriages for better or worst. Whoever they fall in LOVE with will always come home to them.

There are many people who are very much in LOVE and who prefer to be together without the signed contract of marriage. Others prefer the one on one kind of committed LOVE celebrated at the altar with God as the third important Partner. These are healthy relationships, where both people should have their own personal space to shine in their own beautiful light. It’s that kind of LOVE that you can see yourself having a life with, creating a family, growing old with and seeing your children become adults and being grandparents together. This is the kind of love that men are losing by not marrying. Whoever you fall in LOVE with will always come home to you.

SOCIAL CHANGECHEAP SEX

Marriage has become less of a priority for both genders simply because it is no longer made out to be the sole purpose of growing up in life… Education, travel, independence have all become valid and attainable choices for many. Both men and women no longer feel pressured to marry young.

These developments steer people away from thinking of sex as having anything to do with love, monogamy, or child-bearing — all traits that most Americans have long equated with marriage. Because sex is so readily available, people have lost the script that led them to marriage, family and permanence.

As women start to become more demanding of men, men turn away from women in pursuit of pleasure that costs little to nothing. We have failing rates of marriage and even greater rates of divorce.

As a consequence, men lose 50% of their property (real estate, cash, investments, etc) after divorce, plus add to this amount up to 18 years child support, including spousal support. So the costs can be staggering.

The Baha’i Movement

 WHAT IS THE REAL TRUTH?

Baha’ism advocates a subjectivity, asserting that “truth is continuous and relative, not final and absolute. Yet, no truth is absolutely relative. Think about it for a while.

There is a lot of good in the Baha’i faith. Christians do not come with a spirit of criticism or superiority. We can appreciate in the Baha’i faith: the teaching that children obey their parents, including many aspects of morality, opposing fornication and other forms of immorality.

In 1863, a man named Mirza Husayn ‘Ali announced that he was that Great Teacher. He adopted the name Baha’u’llah (The Glory of God), from which the term Baha’i is derived.

Still, the Baha’i organization appear anti-biblical with many differences:

  1. Baha’ism denies the uniqueness of Jesus of Nazareth as the Son of God. Baha’u’llah, however, claimed that Christ was but one manifestation of God: Baha’is are taught that God is both one God and many gods
  2. Devotees of the Baha’i philosophy seek to unify all religions upon the basis of doctrinal compromise: an impossible oneness. Allegedly, they revere the teaching of Abraham, Krishna, Moses, Buddha, Zoroaster, Lao-Tze, Jesus Christ, Confucius, Mohammed and Baha’u’llah, and all other great prophets so that all religions are one. baha'i faith
  3. The doctrine of the Baha’i belief contends that the prophecies regarding the second coming of Christ were fulfilled with the arrival of Baha’u’llah. Such a theory, of course, is void of any evidence.

IS BAHA’I A CULT?BAHA'I CULT

Hypocrites believe one thing, but do another. Jefferson opposed slavery, but owned slaves.  Despite claims of gender equality, women are not allowed to be part of its highest religious body, the Universal House of Justice in Haifa, Israel.

But on a daily level, Baha’is go to great lengths to make all members feel comfortable. Baha’i meetings are simple for this reason. There are no priests, no clergy.

God sends faith, people make religions. People put faith in a box and decorate the box. Rituals define what the box looks like when people only see the box. Devotional meetings of 20 to 30 members are held Monday evenings. People gather to hear passages on a given topic taken from many holy writings — the teachings of Baha’u’llah, the Bible, the Koran. Members each take turns preparing the readings and afterwards there’s time for individual prayer: a form of meditative experience.

The Baha’i faith is almost secular in its organization, a religion for the non-religious. It’s a very ‘live and let live’ philosophy.

BAHA'I CULT

How can we recognize a Cult?

  • Is there any compulsion to attend several group meetings each week?
  • Is there guilt if you miss any?
  • Are there “inner” and “outer” circles of members, the inner ones being “more spiritual”?
  • Are members of the outer circle required to agree to “shepherding,” or control/direction by someone in the inner group? (We are not talking of normal discipleship here.)
  • Is there pressure or manipulation to give a minimum of 10% of your income only to that church/fellowship?
  • Are honest questions about doctrines or practices within the group regarded as “criticism” by leaders?

THE MOST HOLY BOOK EXPOSED

It would seem difficult for Baha’is to expect others to accept their Baha’i Bible, the Most Holy Book (The Al-Kitab-al Aqdas), written by Baha’u’llah, as divine because the community of believers do not treat it as such.

Apart from personal assurance, does the Baha’i religion have objective evidence upon which to rest its beliefs?

BAHA'I HOLY BOOK

IS BAHA’I TRUTHFUL?

The Baha’i writings are not convincingly divine but are simply man-made: rather it is a code of conduct rather than a real religion.

Anyone who reads the Aqdas will recognize how antiquated it is:

  • Regulations for daily worship,
  • Regulations for fasting,
  • Punishments for criminals (the branding of third-offense thieves; payment of $21 for committing adultery; the burning of arsonists; use of capital punishment;
  • Required marriage (to one or two wives; Baha’u’llah had three*).
  • Required Baha’is to wash their hands every day, then their face, then sit facing God and say ninety-five times, “God is most Splendid”

ACCEPTING HIS GRACE

GRACE CAN SHAKE YOUR LIFE

Take a leap of faith in your journey in going deeper with Christ and drink the ‘heavy water’, stronger grace – that is available to all.

Don’t be afraid to drink in stronger grace with Christ.  It will bring you to your destination – the intended destination for all of us, union with God – sooner: “For my yoke is easy and my burden light                                                                                                                                   Matthew 11:30

You want to see great power? You want to see miracles around you? Reach out for grace: it changes everything.

ACCEPTING HIS GRACE

Grace is unlimited. It releases heaven’s supernatural power on your behalf. “By the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace to me was not without effect.”                                               1 Corinthians 15:10

Grace runs counter to the way the world works. God’s pure grace gets polluted from two types of people, namely, one who is too good for the grace of God; the other thinks he is too evil.

But the good news of God’s grace is that no sinner is beyond the reach of God’s grace. God moves heaven and earth to save sinners who could not lift a finger to save themselves.

There is no one who does not need God’s grace, and there is no one beyond the reach of God’s grace, because grace is a gratuitous gift from God.

THE SEARCH FOR NOAH’S FLOOD

There is overwhelming geological evidence that a global flood, as depicted in the story of Noah in the biblical book of Genesis, could have happened.

The story of Noah’s Ark and the Great Flood is one of the most famous from the Bible, and underwater archaeologists think they have found proof that the biblical flood was actually based on real events.

The first book of the Bible, the book of Genesis, chapters 6 to 8, tells about a great world-wide flood. Such a major universal flood would surely leave much evidence.

  1. V-shaped valleys and river deltas suggest a recent (ca. 3000 BC) flood.
  2. All written history begins ca. 3000 BC.
  3. Foundations of cities began then, families of mankind began then and genealogies date back then.
  4. A rock is dated solely by its fossils, not by rough estimates of millions of years.
  5. Carbon dating, with C14, is not useful in dating before 5000 BC according to the discoverer of the method.

It is clear from the biblical account that there was a universal flood about 3000 BC. The biblical account did not derive from other literature. It is eyewitness testimony.

WHY GOD SENT THE FLOOD

The Lord said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them.” . . . God looked on the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way upon the earth. Then God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of them; and, behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth” Genesis 6:7–13

WAS THE FLOOD OF NOAH GLOBAL OR LOCAL IN EXTENT?

“The waters prevailed, and greatly increased on the earth. . . . And the waters prevailed exceedingly on the earth, and all the high hills under the whole heaven were covered. . . . and the mountains were covered.”  Genesis 7:18,19 Continue reading THE BIBLE & SCIENCE ALIGN

PRAYERS ANSWERED

PRAYER SURVEY

Newsweek’s own nationwide survey discovered:

  1. A stunning 87% of all Americans believe that prayer is answered by God.
  2. 82% asked for heath or success for a child or other family member when praying.
  3. 75% asked for strength to overcome personal weakness
  4. 85% don’t turn away from prayer even after prayers are not answered.

It has also been reported that all but a few medical doctors believe in God and 69% of doctors pray from time to time.

The real message is that prayer is truly of preeminent importance today.

WHY PRAY?

Why would God, who knows everything, ask us to pray when He already knows our needs before we ask?

Actually, prayer comes very naturally to us. There is even a yearning in our most innermost being that leads us to prayer. Where does this deep compulsion originate?

God designed us so that we might wish to know and be more like Him. We are “wired for God”. St. Augustine said,”You have made us for Yourself; and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in you.” We have been created for a purpose: to know, love and serve our God. So God wills us to develop an intimate fellowship with Him.

So we need to spend time together in silence and in the most intimate kind of discourse. Our prayer should be a deep soul conversation with our Creator, which was designed from the beginning.

Prayer in a community is also part of God’s plan, “where two or three are gathered in My name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:20 In fact, there is more power in this form of prayer.

COMMON TO ALL RELIGIONS

COMMON TO ALL FAITHS
COMMON TO ALL FAITHS

MOST OF THE MAJOR FAITHS HAVE SOMETHING IN COMMON.

Most of the major faiths include the idea of a higher level of consciousness, which is called a union with God; this is the ultimate goal of most spiritual practices. All major religions with the exception of the strictest form of Buddhism (Theravada Buddhism) teach:

  1. That there is a God who is not a person, but who created the cosmos and who is definitely personal.
  2. That it is possible to know and to experience union with this personal God.
  3. That the entire purpose of life is to seek to do so in order to experience God
COMMON TO ALL FAITHS

CHRISTIANITY IS DIFFERENT.

Christianity is different from other kinds of God-mysticism. We become fellow-heirs” with Christ and “fellow workers” with God until one day we will see God face to face.

  • Not many religions offer a Leader who chose to live with us and show us how to attain the reward of everlasting life.
  • Not many religions offer a God in the form of the Holy Spirit who fills our lives with divine grace in extraordinary ways: what some would think only as coincidence or good fortune.
  • Not many religions offer happiness, forever, as a prize for following a few laws
  • Not many religions throw life jackets to those floundering in a sea of frustration, sin, contradiction and evil.
  • Not many religions offer light in the darkness and a trail out of the wilderness.
  • Not many religions offer peace.

Cardinal Newman’s motto found on his gravestone, “ex umbris et imaginibus in veritatem” — here below we dwell amid only the shadows and images of eternal truth. Continue reading COMMON TO ALL RELIGIONS

OVERCOMING STRESS

EVERYONE IS FAMILIAR WITH STRESS.

PANIC OR ANXIETY ATTACKS

Anxiety or panic attacks can be caused by a consequence of circumstances and relationships in our lives. In small doses, stress can benefit us, but when it is too great, it affects our physical and mental functions.

“Save me, O God,
for the waters have come up to my neck.
I sink in the miry depths,
    where there is no foothold.
I have come into the deep waters;
the floods engulf me.”                                    Psalm 69:1-2

Many of us have felt stress as a result of the pressure of expectation—of not being good enough: good enough to make the team or good enough to be popular. When we fail to meet these expectations, disappointment can be crushing. Sometimes pressure or stress continues no matter how hard we try: it is simply too overwhelming.

To make matters worse, we may know that we are in this awful position because of our own fault. Some of the pressures of life could have been avoided with better personal choices.

ANXIETY ATTACK
ANXIETY ATTACK

We can also experience stress of waiting for God to meet His own expectations:

“I am worn out calling for help;
    my throat is parched.
My eyes fail,
looking for my God.”                                        Psalm 69:3

To begin with, we should never make important decisions when we are under pressure. The ramifications can affect the rest of your life.

Asking for help may seem very humbling. We have to acknowledge our personal inadequacy.

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”                                                                                                                                                1 Peter 5: 6, 7

We simply say, “Help me Lord, because you are a God of mercy.”—“in Your time

“But I pray to You, Lord,
    in the time of Your favor;
in your great love, O God,
answer me with Your sure salvation.”  Psalm 69:13

David chooses to find his release from stress by praising God. This is another way of saying that you trust God to solve your problem.

“I will praise God’s name in song
and glorify Him with thanksgiving.”  Psalm 69:30

HOW DOES PRAYER WORK?

Will we ever know how prayer works as long as we live in this earthly existence? Any scientific explanation remains quite elusive. Scientists simply don’t know. This question is similar to the riddle of how our conscience works.  These are the deepest questions pertaining to God. Albert Einstein once admitted that “Science without religion is lame.”

OVERCOMING FEAR

YOUNG AND RESTLESS

When you are young, you feel invincible. Life stretches before you without limits. Then you grow up and you take on more responsibilities. You have to be more ready for eventualities that require things like insurance and savings.

You start to see life as increasingly fragile and you begin to hedge your bets. Before you would just “go for it”, but now your look for the safe ground.

Then events begin to unravel around you, like the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack. The world’s only super power had been brought to its knees by a handful of terrorists with box cutters.

THE POWER OF FEAR

President Roosevelt spoke about fear itself in 1933: nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror that paralyzes us. He said,” the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

David captured the immobilization of that fear:

“I will watch my ways
    and keep my tongue from sin;
I will put a muzzle on my mouth

while in the presence of the wicked.”
So I remained utterly silent,
    not even saying anything good.
But my anguish increased.”
Psalm 39:1-2

When we are threatened, fear clouds our judgment and can impede us from doing the right thing.

LIFE IS SHORT.

“Surely every man at his best is a mere breath.” Psalm 39:5 And we “make an uproar over nothing” orin vain we rush about”  Psalm 39:6 So we must make sure that our lives count for something.

There is hope:” “But now, Lord, what do I look for?
My hope is in You. Psalm 39:7

We can regret our limitations that we endure and live accordingly, or we can live our lives to make a difference. We should not to be governed by the length of our days, but by the depth of our commitment.

Only God can overwhelm our sense of futility with His purpose. Only God can defeat our temporary existence with the hope of life that is everlasting (heaven).

LOOK FOR HIDDEN ROOTS.

It is a demonic and yes, you can be delivered of it. Look for hidden roots.  Examples of roots are guilt, which is defined as a feeling of responsibility or remorse for some offense, failure, mistake, crime, or wrong, whether real or imagined. It is associated with negative feelings such as shame, remorse, anguish, torment, self-condemnation, self-unforgiveness, self-judgment.

Do you often wondered about your own problems:

  1.  An inordinate desire to please
  2. Inability to say no to things I didn’t want to do
  3. Always setting goals, working hard to accomplish them and then stopping short of success
  4. Always feeling I had to do things better than anyone else
  5. Trying to make everything around me and about me look better than I thought it was

MARIJUANA: RISK OF PSYCHOSIS

High-potency cannabis, or frequent use, raises the risk of psychosis

Regular use of cannabis with a high potency (HIGHER THAN 10%) increases the risk of developing psychosis five-fold, according to a study published this week by the Lancet. It also found that using less potent strains daily increased the risk three-fold. This study looked at cannabis use among 901 European patients newly diagnosed with psychosis including schizophrenia. In London, 30% of new cases of psychosis in the study were estimated to be tied to strong cannabis.

In addition, the risk of developing psychosis or schizophrenia increases when cannabis use is initiated before the age of 16. Also, persons with a family history of psychosis or schizophrenia who use cannabis are at greater risk of developing psychosis and schizophrenia. Cannabis users with a family history of psychosis are 2.5 to 10 times more likely to develop psychotic disorders, compared to non-users with a family history.

IS IT GOOD FOR OUR HEALTH?

Cannabis is the most commonly used illicit drug worldwide, with 5 million daily users worldwide. Continue reading MARIJUANA: RISK OF PSYCHOSIS

THE METH SCOURGE

THE METH SCOURGE
THE METH SCOURGE

The scourge of crystal meth, with its exploding labs and ruinous effect on teeth and skin, has been all but forgotten amid national concern over the opioid crisisMeth has returned with a vengeance. In Oregon, meth-related deaths vastly outnumber those from heroin.

Mexican drug cartels stepped in and have inundated the market with so much pure, low-cost meth that dealers have more of it than they know what to do with. Under pressure from traffickers to unload large quantities, dealers are even offering meth to customers on credit.

Heroin is a depressant. It shuts you down and you’re not capable of doing a whole lot. In contrast, meth is a stimulant: addicts have lowered inhibitions and are awake 24/7, running around at night, so night burglaries abound. Eighty or 90 percent of heroin users are also using meth to temper the effects.

Like opioids, meth is highly addictive and difficult to quit. Meth has been overshadowed by opiates. Unfortunately, there are fewer tools to combat meth than to combat opioids: There is nothing like Naloxone, which can reverse opioid overdoses, or methadone, which can stem opioid cravings.

Meth or methamphetamine use is plausibly responsible for as many if not more drug-related crimes, episodes of violence, and trips to the emergency room than any other substance (discounting all of our daily opiate overdoses)

Meth first overloads and then eventually disables the dopamine system in the brain, which is not good. Meth exacerbates any pre-existing psychosis or induces psychosis altogether. Frequent users often report they hear voices, see “shadow figures,” experience severe paranoia, and endorse full-blown psychotic delusions. When you couple these sorts of psychotic symptoms with frequently hyper-aggressive and/or hyper-sexual behavior while intoxicated, you have a real public health problem. Addicts become semi-aware fragments of themselves, arousing and satisfying their darker impulses.

Meth kills by overloading blood vessels, eventually resulting in aneurysms, heart failure and strokes. As a result, long time older users are likeliest to die—in San Francisco, the average age of those who die of a meth overdose is 49.
