Jesus enters into partnership with us. He comes to us full of perfect knowledge and unlimited love. God knows all our defects and weaknesses. He knows all that might have been done for us or by us.
The soul becomes capable of living in a higher order and of becoming the agent of acts which are completely beyond it natural possibilities. If a plant were given a true power of sensation, or an animal a true power of reason, this would be like the radical transformation that is produced on our soul by grace: still these examples are inadequate. “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10
”And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8
God gives Himself wholly to the person who gives it wholly to Him.God’s love for men is not merely a love for humanity in general. God is in love with each human individual, personally and particularly.
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ appeared to this simple nun, St. Faustina, bringing a wonderful message of Mercy:
Attributes of God
The first attribute which the Lord gave me to know is His holiness. The second kind of knowledge which the Lord granted me concerns His justice. The third attribute is love and mercy. And I understood that the greatest attribute is love and mercy. It unites the creature with the Creator. Diary 180
The teachings of Mohammad were not originally a “new faith”, but an oversimplification of orthodox Christianity. The heresy of Mohammad spread not through reason, but primarily through military force, political greed, and social upheaval.
Heresy is defined as the dislocation of some complete and self-supporting scheme by the introduction of a novel denial of some essential part therein. It is of the essence of heresy that it leaves standing a great part of the structure it attacks.
In 1938 Hilaire Belloc, The Great Heresies saw an Islam that was down but not out; he predicted that it would soon be knocking impolitely on Europe’s door again. A far-fetched prediction at the time, this has now come true. Islam thrives on social injustice; when westerners decided to prop up oil-wealthy sheiks throughout the Arab world, they created the exact conditions in which the Muslim message can rally the masses.
Look how similar the phenomenon of Islam was to the Reformation: both movements liberated converts from oppressive taxation and other financial obligations; both involved a simplification of doctrine that appealed to the masses; both were a reaction against clericalism
Belloc claimed that the Reformation, by splitting Christendom, diminished the importance of religion to all men. If one religion is as good as another, if no single value system guides the behavior of men, then men will be driven by other things-acquisition of wealth, pleasure, and power, what have you. This splitting of Christendom thus paves the way for a new attack-what he calls the Modern Attack-that is wholly anti-religious and seeks nothing less than the utter destruction of faith. We are in the midst of this attack now.
This existence on the fringe of Western culture explains why Islam has endured culturally and spiritually. Whereas in the West, religion, the very glue of civilization, is dissolving, leaving us irresolute, aimless and vulnerable. A strong political leader in the Islamic world could harness the strength of this spiritually united people and overwhelm the west.
Islam began, according to Belloc as a heretical doctrine preached to its originally pagan Arab audience rather than as a new religion in itself. Mohammad affirmed the Christian attributes of a creator God, the Virgin Birth, the prophetic legacy of Jesus and the Last Judgment where Jesus would return to judge good and evil. However, Mohammad totally disavowed the Incarnation of Christ, the tradition of the Apostles and the Church’s sacraments that Christ instituted.
Mohammad taught what was in the main Christian doctrine, oversimplified. He founded his heresy on simplification. He denied the Trinity altogether, along with the sacramental structure of Christianity, together with adding various ancillary beliefs mostly directly or indirectly derived from Christianity and Christian writings. (Belloc does not note that much of Mohammad’s doctrine was also derived from a distorted retelling of parts of the Talmud.)
Belloc focuses on the social environment where Islam first rose. A massive underclass in the decaying Persian and Byzantine Empires toiled under the restrictions of the upper class. Among these oppressed, the nascent Islamic movement found willing support for its doctrine of total equality and total submission to God. Islam found a ready audience in the Middle East disenchanted with Byzantine rule and nearly gobbled up both Western and Eastern Christendom by sheer fanaticism and military prowess had it not been for the Spanish re-conquest and the Crusades.
This simplified religionwas attractive when combined with the existing slavery, imperial taxation and corruption rampant in the East, as well as the zeal of its first converts, so Islam spread rapidly. It became fabulously wealthy and cultured, although actual conversion of conquered territories was slow. Its ascendancy also came from converting new, militarily-centered groups like the Mongols and to the failure of the Crusades. Its adherents have grown in number simply from having large families, and they have proven to be unconvertible. And having largely destroyed Christianity in the East, it threatened the entire West.
Part of the Muslim world has become fabulously wealthy: the House of Saudexports Wahhabism all over the world, which is pernicious. It is not really a global military challenge, except for talk of Taliban and ISIS’s goals. However, the Muslim world is split along their own doctrinal lines, and spends much of its warlike energy fighting other Muslims
We all view Islam as decaying, stagnant, and backwards-looking. We rarely remember that until about three centuries ago, Islam dominated the world with the most advanced technology, thought, and political systems. The Mohammedan Government centered at Constantinople had better artillery and better army equipment of every kind than had we Christians in the West.
The last effort they made to destroy Christendom was contemporary with the end of the reign of Charles II in England and of his brother James and of the usurper William III. The Muslim hordes were knocking on the doors of Central Europe, and that Vienna was only saved by a last-minute intervention by the Poles on a date that ought to be among the most famous in history–September 11, 1683. Remember 9:11! It failed, only just!
Why the Golden Age Faded
As Sayyid Jamal al-Din al-Afghani, an influential Muslim said, “It is permissible … to ask oneself why Arab civilization, after having thrown such a live light on the world, suddenly became extinguished; why this torch has not been relit since; and why the Arab world still remains buried in profound darkness.”
The Islamic turn away from scholarship actually preceded the civilization’s geopolitical decline — it can be traced back to the rise of the anti-philosophical Ash’arism school among Sunni Muslims, who comprise the vast majority of the Muslim world.
In his bookThe Incoherence of the Philosophers, al-Ghazali vigorously attacked Greek philosophy and philosophers. He was worried that when people become favorably influenced by philosophical arguments, they will also come to trust the philosophers on matters of religion, thus making Muslims less pious. Reason, because it teaches us to discover, question, and innovate, was the enemy; al-Ghazali argued that in assuming necessity in nature, philosophy was incompatible with Islamic teaching, which recognizes that nature isentirely subject to God’s will: “Nothing in nature,” he wrote, “can act spontaneously and apart from God.”
After al-Ghazali “there wasno more science worth mentioningin Islamic countries”. This view has endured to this day.
Why Inquiry Failed in the Islamic World
Muslims had found al-Ghazali (Ash’arism) thought more convincing or more palatable; it suited prevailing sentiments and political ideas.
It is helpful to briefly compare Islam with Christianity. Christianity acknowledges a private-public distinction and (theoretically, at least) allows adherents the liberty to decide much about their social and political lives. Islam, on the other hand, denies any private-public distinction and includes laws regulating the most minute details of private life. Put another way, Islam does not acknowledge any difference between religious and political ends: it is a religion thatspecifies political rules for the community.
At a deeper level, Islam lags because it failed to offer a way to institutionalize free inquiry. That, in turn, is attributable to its failure to reconcile faith and reason. In this respect, With a couple of exceptions, every country in the Middle Eastern parts of the Muslim world has been ruled by an autocrat, a radical Islamic sect, or a tribal chieftain. Islam has no tradition of separating politics and religion.
What is needed in Islam is less self-pride and more self-criticism. Today, self-criticism in Islam is valued only insofar as it is made as an appeal to be more pious and less spiritually corrupt. And yet most criticism in the Muslim world is directed outward, at the West. This prejudice — what Fouad Ajami has called (referring to the Arab world) “a political tradition of belligerent self-pity” — is undoubtedly one of Islam’s biggest obstacles. It makes information that contradicts orthodox belief irrelevant, and it closes off debate about the nature and history of Islam.
As a result, science in the Arabic world declined and retrogressed. In contrast, Europe hungrily absorbed and translated classical and scientific works.
Every ideology must be subjected to open, free discussion in regard to its value or otherwise, without fear of reprisal. NO EXCEPTIONS! “Islamaphobia” is not racism, any more than “Communistophobia” would be, because Islam is an idea, not a race.
In a civilized society, NO idea — religious, political or philosophical — can claim any special treatment, or be set beyond the reach of empirical evidence.
THE FALSE PHILOSOPHY OF RELIGION
“See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and vain deceit, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.” Colossians 2:8
One should not accept philosophy of mere speculation and imagination, but of the modest, laborious investigation of facts.
Vain Deceit is, that which is vain and empty, and has no solid foundation, and even deceitful and delusional.
Jesus performed miracles Surah 3:49; He healed the lepers, gave sight to the blind, and raised the dead- Surah 5:110 Did Muhammad heal, give sight, or raise from the dead?
Christianity is not a philosophy, but a life–-not knowledge of abstract principles, but apersonal knowledge of faith and loveof God in Christ.
Many Christians have been given the gift of healing and deliverance to be able to deliver away evil spirits influencing even non-Christians, which cause depression, addictions and illness through all forms of stress. This healing and deliverance is successful only in the Name of Jesus Christ:
HOW IS JESUS STILL ALIVE TODAY?
Jesus is alive today! He heals today (through His followers) and in many cases it is realized immediately. How else can you explain the explosion of Christianity, the world’s largest religion, on earth: 2.2 billion adherents, nearly a third (31 percent) of all 6.9 billion people on Earth.
Christians know and feel His Presence; they communicate with Him personally; their prayers are always answered.
This author has been given the Gift of Healing only because he is a Christian Lay Missionary who travels usually two to three places every year. On his last trip to Columbia he successfully transferred his Gift to five different Spanish translators, who were able to heal as he did. He has healed Muslims to their great surprise. He also delivers away evil spirits along with their healing. All those involved in the healing actually feel a complete physical sense of peace that is unmistakable.
DREAMS AND VISIONS
When God heals in this way, He is giving a message to those being healed for a change of heart even without one’s faith. In His wisdom,, He knows faith will be developed. Dreams or visions often accompany this experience especially among non-Christians.
Good, well-meaning and faithful Protestantsbalk at referring toMary as Mother of God. They refuse to believe that the Virgin Mary is in any way involved in God’s Plan.
Mary the physical mother of Jesus is of great importance to Catholics, but they claim the Bible says very little about Mary. Some Protestants considered the Roman Catholic veneration of Mary a terrible mistake and idolatrous heresy.
The refusal, especially of manyProtestants, to acknowledge Mary as anything more than a sort of incubator of Jesus, does far less justice to the message of the Bible. Many Protestants are so anti-Catholic that they would find any Catholic dogma to argue about even though it isn’t worthy of an argument. They seem to be blinded to actual proven facts. How can they explain the complete conversion of Mexico among other places by Our Lady of Guadalupe?
Though Franciscan missionaries had been laboring in Mexico for twenty years, they had made little progress. But within ten years of the appearance of Our Lady of Guadalupe, practically the entire Mexican people, nine million strong, had converted to Christianity.La Morena had proved a more effective evangelist than St. Peter, St. Paul, St. Patrick, and St. Francis Xavier combined! And with that great national conversion, the Aztec practice of human sacrificecame to an end. She had done battle with fallen spirits and had won a culture-changing victory for the God of love.
In the beginning, the Virgin Mary is greeted, in God’s plan, by an angel messenger as “full of grace”. Luke 1:28 “All generations shall call me blessed, because He that is mighty hath done great things to me”. Luke 1:48 God was very clear: Mary was enriched by God with the gifts which befit such a role: entirely holy and free from all stain of sin, as though fashioned by the Holy Spirit.
At the marriage feast of Cana, moved with pity, she brought about by her intercession the beginning of miracles of Jesus the Messiah. John 2:1-11 And so Mary is used by God not merely in a passive way, but as freely cooperating in the work of human salvation through faith and obedience. In the end,the Blessed Virgin always looks to Christ, the source of all truth, sanctity and piety. This role continues into this century.
So what is Mary’s role?
God knows that Mary has an important role to influence women in the third world. The whole of South America was evangelized because of the influence of Mary, through the women of their families, who are the guardians of the family spirituality. Orientals, who with devout mind, also give honor to the Mother of God.
Even in the Muslim world, the Koran speaks very highly of Mary. Is this not another part of God’s plan to unite major religions, in the same way as how God pointed to Abraham as the father, common to Jews, Muslims and Christians.
It is the devotion of simple people that has built most of the great Christian shrines. Expectant pilgrims go to Lourdes in search of healing. They flock to Mary as a compassionate and loving mother, who is approachable and who reaches out to heal. What does that tell you? “By their fruit you will recognize them.” Matthew 7:16
This is not to be confused with some sort of cult. It is a well orchestrated plan of God to introduce Jesus into a secular world, a world where women appear to be more open to spirituality.
The Sixth Apparition at Fatima
On October 13, 1917 (100 years ago) during the sixth apparition at Fatima, Portugal, the children surrounded by a crowd of 70,000 peoplestood under a torrential rain as Blessed Mary appeared and revealed her identity: “I am the Lady of the Rosary, I desire here a chapel in my honor to be built, that people continue to recite the Rosary every day. The war is going to end, and the soldiers will soon return to their homes. Do not offend the Lord our God anymore, because He is already so much offended.” Then the miracle she promised happened: the Miracle of the Sun. By definition a miracle is something that can not be explained in the world that we know.
Many described the miracle similarly: Mary opened her hands and launched a ray of light in the direction of the sun; the rain stopped suddenly and there appeared an exceptionally bright sun. The sun began to turn, projecting colorful bands of light. Then the sun appeared as if it was spinning out from the sky and falling towards the crowd, as people fell to their knees and begged for mercy. Remarkably, all the 70,000 people who witnessed this found themselves completely dry.
Meanwhile, as promised, the three children saw the Blessed Lady dressed in white with a blue cape, along with St. Joseph with the Child Jesus blessing the world. Then after this vision they saw The Lord bless the world, standing next to Our Lady of Sorrows.
Our Lady of Lourdes
In 1858 near Lourdes, France, the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Lourdes, appeared 18 times to Bernadette Soubirous, a 14 year old peasant girl. She identified herself as The Immaculate Conception. She gave Bernadette a message for all: “Pray and do penance for the conversion of the world.”
A volunteer panel, made up of about 40 people from around the world, come from different medical specialties. Their role is to decide whether or not cures that people claim to have had at Lourdes are explicable medically. Approximately 7000 people have sought to have their case confirmed as a miracle, of which 69 have been declared a scientifically inexplicable miracle by both the Bureau and the Catholic Church.
So let us be clear
Mary is not to be adored in the same way as we adore and praise Jesus. Mary is to be revered as an important part of God’s plan to bring Jesus to cultures that would otherwise be blinded.
How did all this come about? Mary is endowed with the high office and dignity of being the Mother of the Son of God.
When you make adjustments and obey, you come to know God by experiencing Him. Experiencing God involves obedience and a love relationship.
1. God is always at work around us.
“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” John 17:3
Deep within the hearts of every believer are a desire and a need to commune with God. There is a world of difference between knowing something is true in your head and experiencing the reality in your life. Many church goers hear about God, but they do not have a personal, dynamic, growing relationship with God. They never hear His voice; they have no idea what God’s Will is. They have no sense of divine purpose for their lives. They may know a lot about God, but they really don’t know Him.
We either know God is all-powerful or we don’t really trust in His power. It is one thing to believe in God’s power; it is quite another to live your life in obedient response to an all-powerful God.
“Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of Thy countenance. In Thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in Thy righteousness shall they be exalted.” Psalm 89:15,16
There will be times when you do not comprehend why He allows certain things to occur, and that is to be expected. He sees the eternal ramifications; we don’t. We must learn to praise God always for everything even the seemingly bad things in our life.
God’s Will is always best! God is all-powerful. His directions are always right. He can enable you to accomplish His Will. We can trust that God Will always gives His best. If you really believe God is love, you will also accept that His will is always best.
He said, “Always remember this song I have taught you today. And let it be a warning that you must teach your children to obey everything written in The Book of God’s Law. The Law isn’t empty words. It can give you a long life in the land that you are going to take.” Deuteronomy 32:46,47
God does not want you to miss out on the fullness of life. God’s instructions do not restrict; they free you. God’s purpose is that you prosper and live.
God sees beyond our current limitations and is constantly leading us to grow into the person He knows we can become. He knows our future.
2. God pursues a continuing love relationship with you.
“He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” John 14:21
You did not initiate a love relationship with God; He initiated a love relationship with you. Long before you began your life on earth, God demonstrated His love for you on the cross of Christ. What is the foremost thing God wants from you? He wants you to love Him with all your being. Your experiencing God depends on your love for Him.
“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.” 1 John 5:3
Calling on His name indicates we are seeking His presence. To praise His Name is to exalt Him. He is worthy of our praise.
3. God invites you to become involved with Him.
“My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure… I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it. I will also do it.” Isaiah 46:10-11
Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.” John 4:34
So what is God’s will for your life? A better question is, “What is God’s Will?”, because people are naturally self-centered. We tend to view the whole world even God’s activity with our own eyes. Your focus has to be outward on God and His purpose, not inward on your life. We must come to a place where we renounce our self-focused approach to life and turn the attention and control to a God-centered outlook. You must focus on God’s purposes, not on your own plans.
“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. He who loves his life will lose it, andhe who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.” John 12:24,25
“For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13
You have heard the complaint: “don’t just stand there – do something” so we wear ourselves out and accomplish very little for the Kingdom of God. Rather God is saying to us:”don’t just do something – stand there!” He alone can initiate His plans through you:
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
God accomplishes His purposes through you. This experience is not designed to be exhausting or burdensome, but exhilarating and fulfilling: you will find rest in your souls.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
If you have an obedience problem, you have a love problem. If our love relationship with God is not as it should be, nothing else will be in order.
God did not create the world and then abandon it to function on its own. He has been actively involved in human affairs throughout history. God is actively at work redeeming a lost world. He chooses to involve you to help carry out His plans.
Unless God opens your spiritual eyes, you will be blind to His presence and work. When God reveals to where He is working, that becomes His invitation to join Him in His activity.
4. God communicates to us through the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit will use the Bible, prayer, circumstances and other believers to guide us. It is best to have confirmation from other of these sources.
“He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.” John 8:47
The concept of spiritual gifts is contrary to much of what is taught today. Spiritual gifts are a manifestation of the Holy Spirit working in people’s lives to enable them to obey what God asks them to do. When God gives an assignment, He equips the person to accomplish what He assigns. A person who has never accepted an assignment from God does not need to be spiritually equipped because that individual is not undertaking a divine task.
5. God’s invitation for you to work with Him always leads you to a Crisis of Belief that requires faith and action.
Whenever God is involved in anything, there are always eternal, divine dimensions and possibilities. To follow God, you will have to walk by faith because without faith it is impossible to please Him:
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6
A life walking close to God is both exciting and rewarding.
6. You must make major adjustments in your life to join God
God has a right to interrupt our life. He is our Lord, and we must adjust our lives to what He is doing and to the ways He chooses to accomplish His work.
To get from where you are to where God is requires significant adjustments to your life. You can’t stay where you are and go with God at the same time.
When you do what He tells you, no matter how bewildering it may seem, God carries out what He proposed through you. Not only do you experience God’s power and presence, but so do those who observe your life.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.” 2 Corinthians 5:17,20
“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you”. John 15:16
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6: 31-33
7. You come to know God by experience as you obey Him.
While Jesus was speaking, a woman from the crowd called out and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that carried you and the breasts at which you nursed.” He replied, “Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.” Luke 11:27-28
The moment God speaks to us, that is the time we respond. If you hear the Word of God and do not apply it to produce fruit in your life, your disobedience will cost you. “Therefore, take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him” Luke 8:18God does bring discipline, judgment, and wrath on those who continue to live in sin and rebellion against Him. This discipline is based on love. “The Lord corrects the people He loves and disciplines those He calls His own.” Hebrews 12:6
Suppose that five times out of ten, when the master had something for His servant to do, the servant said, “Sorry, that’s not on my agenda”. What do you think the Master would do? He would discipline the servant, of course. Eventually the servant would remain outside the activity of the Master and the servant will not be working in or through the Master’s life, which becomes a secular life.
Nowhere in the Bible does God promise to stop us from making mistakes! We are human and we are prone to making mistakes. It is foolish to walk carelessly through doors of opportunity without seeking God’s guidance, blithely hoping God will work all thinks together for good.
On the other hand, when God called Abram, He said, “I will bless you, and make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.”Genesis 12:2 That means:” I will develop your character to match your assignment.”
In the meantime, waiting on the Lord should not be an idle time for you. Let God use times of waiting to mold and shape your character. Let Him purify your life and make you into a clean vessel for His service.
When you are living authentically, you feel happy and optimistic. You are honest and open and listen to your feelings. You can think for yourself, you are open to change, you can take responsibility, ask for help, and make healthy choices.More importantly, you want to do your best.
We search for an authentic life. Generally, we are always hungry for more; a form of restlessness of the heart. The world is not enough. We appreciate beauty but it doesn’t end there: we ache for more beauty. Similarly obtaining new information drives us to seek more. We do something good. Maybe we can do some greater good somehow. God has place this restlessness of our heart until we find Him: we are simply made that way.
“Most men lead lives of quiet desperation.” Henry Thoreau in Walden Pond. We all know how people’s lives have become faster and busier every day. It seems as though many people are living merely to survive. The treatment for depression today is ten times greater than previous times.
We lose the reason why we are here: what is the meaning and purpose of our life? If we become distracted from our purpose long enough, we become miserable. Our modern life has become a distraction from our real Christian goal in life. We either don’t know what this goal is or we cast it aside. Even worst — this goal seems to make people uncomfortable so the goal is watered down. Ironically, if you take away the goal of the Christian life, you don’t make it easier to live — you make it harder.
You are much happier whenyou have a higher standard to look to and strive for. Having a meaningful goal flood your spirit with hope and fills your mind with determination.
In truth, holiness is something that God does in us and not something we achieve. God is still the perfect Gentleman. He invites us to participate in His life, but He never forces Himself on us. He wants our consent because he desires our loving cooperation.
Those who respond to God’s call to holiness are the most joyful people on earth. They have richer, more abundant experience of life and they love more deeply than most people. They enjoy life — all of life.
How do you know that you are close to holiness? You have an insatiable desire to become all God created you to be: and unwavering commitment to the will of God and an unquenchable concern for unholy people. You are continually answering God’s invitation to grasp the moments of your life — perhaps being sensitive to a divine appointment that God has aligned for you. You tap into the grace of God, which is never lacking. In this way you are giving glory to God.
The Idolatry of Wealth and Reevaluation of Treasure
Our holiness is compatible with every state in life. Even the rich are called to live holy lives by using their wealth in productive ways that foster their own growth and the growth of others.
“Idolatry? Who can tell me what that word means?” A nine-year-old’s hand shot into the air. “It’s like what some people do with money—they make it more important than God.” The wisdom of these simple words reverberated through the Sunday school classroom.
Christians are called to reject the idolization of wealth in the modern consumerist society. Instead, they are invited to make productive use of material wealth for the ministries of God.
So long as individuals maintain a greater attachment to worldly possessions than to God, they will find it harder to enter the kingdom of heaven than a camel to pass through the eye of the needle.
An authentic life starts with a prayer: “I offer you this half hour of my swim for … who is struggling… or any other cause.” So that you “pray continuously” 1 Thessalonians 5:17 So while you are cleaning windows, you simply offer this hour of cleaning for thanksgiving for your family. You offer the actions of your life to God as a prayer. This is the secret on how the busy modern person can find intimacy with God. The interior effect of the work we do becomes more important than the exterior fruits of our work.
WEALTH IS NOT GREED!
The all-consuming desire to possess riches and temporal material comfort is a barrier between humanity and God, for you cannot serve both God and wealth Matthew 6:24
Indeed, those who utilize their material wealth for the good of others further their relationship with God. For in every individual in need of food, drink, clothing, shelter, or comfort, there is God . Matthew 25:34-40
Christians are called to be good stewards rather than owners of their material blessings, multiplying them in accordance to their ability.
When humanity is entrusted with the material and spiritual gifts of God, it is called to use its material wealth for the glory of God, and like the servants of the Parable of the Talents, Christians are called to freely and willingly return the talents to God upon His request, and for this careful stewardship, they will be richly rewarded in heaven.
The treasure of heaven is far greater than any temporal wealth, and the abundance of grace which flows from Christ’s life far surpasses any earthly comfort.
Many people think holiness is only for a certain few chosen ‘saints’, but this is not the truth. God has created each and every one of us for holiness.
I know it isn’t ‘cool’ these days for many people in the world to hear teaching about God, let alone Jesus. Mmmmmmm. Whether it’s cool or not, the fact is still that we are all empty, rattling tin cups when we look elsewhere for the thing our heart truly desires and was created for. Love.
‘You’re worth it’! You are that one sinner that heaven waits to rejoice over, whether you know it or not.
Please don’t wait ’til you’re faced with your mortality to contemplate this fact. Please don’t miss the entire lesson of your life here on earth – seeking God and growing in love. God is an atom bomb of love!
Being holyis having a relationship with the living God! Then we must daily live a set-apart life, not trying to “blend in” with the world, but instead living according to God’s Word as we study the Bible and grow in it — doing God’s will.
In 1 Peter 1: 15-16, Peter writes to believers,“like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy.” not by coercion or out of duty like an abstract action but out of real love for God.
We have a relationship with the living God! Then we must daily live a set-apart life, not trying to “blend in” with the world, but instead living according to God’s Word as we study the Bible and grow in it — doing God’s will.
We set ourselves apart by showing our joy, our peace, and our love. All three of these things come fully only from Christ, and thus those who are set apart by Christ and for Christ should be able to exemplify them to those who are not yet in Christ, but still of the World. I believe 1 Peter 3:15says this: “But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect”
To be a Christian means far more than merely to believe in God—as if the Christian faith were reducible to a system of beliefs—it means to be united with Jesus in and through the Holy Spirit. “I no longer live, but Christ lives in me”, says Paul. Galatians 2:20. Elsewhere, Paul tells us that our lives are “hidden with Christ in God”Colossians 3:3 Passages like these convey the mysterious, yet utterly real fact that, by virtue of our union with Jesus, we participate in the life of God: He dwells in us, and we dwell in him.Continue reading MEANING OF BEING HOLY→
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4:18-19
“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:9
“Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all my being, bless His holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits. He pardons all your iniquities, He heals all your ills. He redeems your life from destruction, He crowns you with kindness and compassion.” Psalms 103:1-4
“Come and listen to My Heart’s desires: for the sake of the love … Are you still willing to follow in My stride? Are you willing to sacrifice your time for My Interests? Are you ready to crown My Plan with success so that all Heaven with joy hails My victory? Are you willing to respond to My needs with fervor and anxiety to please Me, your Saviour?
If you allow Me to use you, I will invest your soul with My Divinity, with My Splendor, with My Seal …. we have only a mile to go, My friends, only a mile longer.” May 21, 1994
“I enjoy sharing My plans with you; this Work is not yours but Mine; I just need your will and your consent to complete My Work; are you still willing to remain the instrument of My desires?”June 17, 1994
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” James 1: 22
Honor your Father and your Mother
“Scriptures say: “with all your heart honor your father, never forget the birth pangs of your mother; remember that you owe your birth to them; how can you repay them for what they have done for you?” Ecclesiastes 4:14 and you are to follow this Commandment: honor your father and your mother; why are so many of you surprised that so few follow this Commandment? Foolish and wicked notions led these children astray into worshiping empty productions, filling their spirit from early childhood with a spirit of sluggishness; many parents have not given their children that ever flowing Source of My Spirit; Wisdom was calling them day and night, but this generation barred Her out, and every day that passed, your children strayed further and further from the Path leading to Me; if any one, young or old, acknowledges Me as their God, they would reflect My Image, and out of love, would obey and honor their parents as they would be obeying and honoring Me; but all things that are conformed to the world have depraved these children from coming to Me; love is missing.”
“This generation’s minds are empty and so Darkness came and filled them up; for the image of becoming a philosopher is more important in their eyes than My Eternal Glory; then, their lack of holiness is consumed by passion and from early youth go out and dishonor their own bodies.” August 5,1990
To begin with, God knew you from all eternity: to be weak and wretched, but He love you just the same. Your ineffable weakness and misery attracts Him. He rejoices on how He will remedy your injustices.
“Children are God’s weakness, because they let Him form them. In the same way, when we make ourselves smaller humbly, we are easier to handle. Our insufficiency will glorify His Suffice.” January 30, 1986
“Offer God your will in surrendering to Him. This is the most beautiful thing that you can offer God. Seek God’s interests and not yours.”
“I am limiting you for the reasons I have; guiding you blindly pleases Me, it glorifies Me; then, I want that this become a lesson for those whose wisdom blinds them; I want you innocent, simple; guiding you in this special way was so that My religious souls understand that I, the Lord, give abundantly.”September 23, 1987
“Divine Works are beyond human understanding; many souls do not respond to My Works for these souls seldom want to change;”
“These souls are attached to the world, to what is material; even though they call themselves spiritual,1 Corinthians 2:14 they are not since they cling on what they see with their physical eyes and touch with their body; they are stubborn, living aridly; their heart will not open to let My Divinity pour into them;”
“Yes, there are many factors that obstruct them from dwelling in My Light; I have said and will repeat again and again these very important words: “anyone who does not welcome the Kingdom of God like a little child, will never enter it”; be innocent, believe in a child-like-faith, then My Divine Light will encompass you and you, like a flower, will face the sun and open, allowing My Light to pour in you.” May 16, 1988Continue reading WHAT IS A TRUE LIFE IN GOD?→
