TRUTH ABOUT PURGATORY

Purgatory, far from being a “Catholic invention” as most Protestants assume, was believed from the very beginning by Christians.

KEEPING HEAVEN PURE

Those who don’t want their past to be known will experience isolation, until they grow out of their fear and are able to trust. Would their isolation be their purgatory? Purgatory will be our choice not to trust and love, not to open ourselves to the loving, accepting gaze of others. Finally when this stage is passed, those in purgatory will reach the wholeness which God means us to have.

TRUTH ABOUT PURGATORY

“If any person’s work which he has built [on this foundation, that is, any outcome of his effort] remains [and survives this test], he will receive a reward.  But if any person’s work is burned up [by the test], he will suffer the loss [of his reward]; yet he himself will be saved, but only as [one who has barely escaped] through fire.”
                                                                                                   1 Corinthians. 3:14,15

This purification purges away all the dross that clings to the soul,
things that Paul describes metaphorically as flammable materials
such as “wood, hay, and straw.” These things are burned away in this
judgment by God. Conversely, that man’s good works — which Paul compares with “gold, silver, and precious stones” — are refined and retained.

Since there are only two ultimate destinies possible for all human
beings, heaven or hell, the issue of purgatory must be understood as
simply a part of the process for some souls who are destined for
heaven. Continue reading TRUTH ABOUT PURGATORY

PEACE ON EARTH NOW 2

HERE AND NOWPEACE ON EARTH NOW

Jesus shows us the way to be in the world without being of it. When we model our lives on His, a new world will open up for us. The Kingdom of Heaven will be ours, and the earth today will be our inheritance. We will be comforted and have our fill; mercy will be shown to us.

Yes, we will be recognized as God’s children and truly see God, not just in an afterlife, but here and now: ““Blessed [inwardly peaceful] are the gentle [the kind-hearted], for they will inherit the earth… Blessed are those who are persecuted for doing that which is morally right, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [both now and forever].” Matthew 5: 5, 10 That is the reward of modeling our lives on the life of Jesus!

We who are Christians must pray, read the bible and let our Lord lead us. Easy? No, for we are human and we have our thoughts and our feelings.

Walking in faith is not easy: we want the pleasures of the world at times, but turn away from that for it is not the way of Jesus. When we pray to our Lord, we find peace and contentment on earth NOW!

This world is not our home.

We will have a heavenly home one day – free of sin and violence.

EXHILARATING HEAVEN

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT: ARE YOU READY TO GO?

There’s nothing wrong with retirement, but it only lasts a few decades at best. Continue reading PEACE ON EARTH NOW 2

GOD: THE TREMENDOUS LOVER 2

GOD’S LOVE FOR HIS PEOPLE

God does not love us if we change; God loves us so that we can change. Only love effects true inner transformation, not duress, guilt or social pressure. Only love effects true inner transformation.

Jesus on earth constituted one new man joining heaven and earth. God, the Tremendous Lover, Himself said: “I have loved thee with an everlasting love.”                                                                          Jeremiah 31:3                                                                                                                                                           God pours Himself into us so that we may be one entity, as a body joined to a head: for this is the very desire and longing for ardent lovers. There is nothing God will not do for a loving confident faith.

Very often our own ideas are quite wrong; we are thinking of great works for God, but God is thinking of great love from us. An instant of pure love is more precious in the sight of God than all your good works.

GOD'S LOVE

LOVE (GOD) loves you!

STAGES OF SPIRITUAL GROWTH 2

There are three different stages of spiritual growth.

In each of these stages, you grows a little.

  1. When you begin, you are trying to overcome sin and you go through purification. You try to take the sin out of your life. You will then move on to a stage where sin is put out of your life.
  2. To enter this stage, the dark night of senses will usually occur. When Jesus was taken away from the apostles, they went through their dark night experience.
  3. Finally, you have a sense of conscience and the Holy Spirit operates in you more. You will evolve into a loving union with God. Having perfect joy is the farthest that we can go in this world. Not many people make it this far.

SUFFERING JOY

Long-suffering is synonymous to patient and enduring.  We must be long-suffering when we see the weaknesses of our brothers and sisters in the faith.

It will be the patience and long suffering of the Holy Spirit that will be the only thing that will give you the ability to last the entire length of a storm cloud or trial. You must learn to ride and flow with the patience of the Holy Spirit in your daily life and walk with the Lord – and you will then be able to enter into a much more restful and peaceful state within your mind and emotions.

A spirit-filled person has joy on his heart. Joy and pleasure are two different things. Continue reading STAGES OF SPIRITUAL GROWTH 2

HEALING AND PRAYER 2

THE DISCIPLE OF HEALING

All that is needed is the disciple of healing to be an instrument. He or she does not get power from theological studies or academic degrees. It is Jesus that has the power and who accomplishes all the work: “it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. “Galatians 2:20  It was the same with all the great saints in the world, who had become so totally preoccupied with Jesus, that they forgot all the things that were wrong in their life.

Prayer is a gift from God. To cooperate with the gift of healing, one must be disciplined to give time for prayer. A healing disciple must be very connected. Some spend three hours a day before the Lord. Jesus wants no less than an hour for Himself.

When healing prayers are said over the phone, even on the other side of the world, by a disciple of healing, the person being prayed for can be completely healed. Jesus is not confined to one place. God is everywhere and His prayer is limitless; there is not distance for Him.Disciple of Healing

The short answer is Yes, but through the Disciple of Healing. Those disciples can be found in healing prayer groups that meet in church basements during the week. Often those disciples may only have a small inkling that they have been blessed with a gift of healing.

GOD’S WAY TO HEAVEN 2

WHAT IF THEY ARE SINCERELY WRONG?

So many people today are sincere about what they believe regarding Heaven.

God way to heaven

They pray but to what effect?GOD’S WAY TO HEAVEN

SHORTFALL  of these FOUR LAWS

SHORTFALL ONE: “THESE FOUR LAWS” FORGET THAT FAITH WORKS AND THAT FAITH ALONE CANNOT SAVE
Romans 1:5 speaks of our “obedience to the faith.” Obedience and true faith in God always go together. You can’t have one without the other:”You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone”.                                                                    James 2:24 Continue reading GOD’S WAY TO HEAVEN 2

DELIVERANCE FROM LONELINESS 2

LONELINESS IS SERIOUS.

It gnaws at our sense of reality, and can lead to depression and a sense of hopelessness. We may feel abandoned and sometimes rejected.

There are root causes such as death, separation or loss of a loved one. There could also be a change that comes upon you because of illness, unemployment or divorce.

LIVING IN LONELY BUBBLES

Loneliness is a dark and dreadful spirit hat haunts some of us today. Loneliness may mean that you are being attacked by Satan. God can intervene in your life and cleanse and heal your heart! You will not suffer from loneliness again since God will be sufficient for you. He will keep you in His peace.

We are a generation that doesn’t acknowledge others. We have lost what it means to have connection because all we’re ever connected to is the Internet or our devices.

Loneliness can have a greater impact on lifespan than obesity. Obesity increases a person’s chance of an early death by 30 %. Loneliness can increase it by a whopping 50%.

Some people are afraid to venture out and meet others, knowing that that effort will most likely result in rejection. When you do interact with people in public, they’re social for five minutes – that’s it!

Agonizing Loneliness

Many people suffer with loneliness. They may work in large urban centers or may have hundreds of friends on Facebook, but they are still lonely. One of the reasons this happens is because we in society forget one another. “The most terrible poverty is loneliness, and the feeling of being unloved.”                                                 Mother Theresa

You might say that what you really want is what really matters: meaningful friendships, a marriage, a family. And these things, as God designed them, are good, and good to want and work for. But still they’re not the ultimate thing.

REASONS FOR FEMALE PRIESTS

WHO CAN RECEIVE HOLY ORDERS?

Only a baptized man validly receives sacred ordination. The Lord Jesus chose men to form the college of the twelve apostles…The Church recognizes herself to be bound by this choice made by the Lord Himself. For this reason the ordination of women is not possible .                                                                                             1577  (Catechism)

WHERE DID THIS ALL BEGIN?

Jesus chose 12 apostles was to replace the 12 tribal ‘fathers’ of Israel. In the cultural context of His time, it was natural he chose men for this limited purpose.

THE MOST VOCAL CONTROVERSY

Among the most vocal controversies in the Catholic Church recently has been the question of the ordination of women.

We need to fulfil our canon law duty to speak out as church leaders encourage us to do.

All the faithful, both clerical and lay, should be accorded a lawful freedom of inquiry, freedom of thought and freedom of expression.Gaudium et Spes, no 62; Canon Law no 212 § 3. As a consequence, eight out of ten Catholic scholars in the world support the ordination of women.

SEVEN REASONS WHY WOMEN CAN  RECEIVE HOLY ORDERS!

  1. One priesthood in Christ
Through baptism women and men share equally in the new priesthood of Christ.

This includes openness to Holy Orders.  “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave[a] nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”                                                                                                                                     Galatians 3:27-28
  2. REASONS FEMALE PRIESTS
  3. Empowered to preside
At the Last Supper Jesus empowered both women and men to preside at the Eucharist.  Women were present at the Last Supper when Jesus said: “Do this in commemoration of me!”
    REASONS FEMALE PRIESTS
  4. Women have been deacons
Until at least the ninth century the Church gave women the full sacramental ordination of deacons. This proves women can be ordained.  Does it make sense that women are apt for the diaconate, but not for the priesthood? reason women priests
  5. The ability for women to be ordained has been present in the Church’s latent Tradition.
One example is the age-long devotion to Mary as Priest. It shows that, according to the ‘sense of the faithful’, in Mary the ban against women has already been overcome. If women can become saints, surely they can become priests.
  6. The wider Church accepts women priests
After serious study and prayer other Christian Churches now ordain women as priests. Though not everything other Churches do can be accepted by the Catholic Church, this converging consensus by believing Christians confirms that ordaining women is according to the mind of Christ and the Holy Spirit. reason women priests
  7. Women too are, in fact, called to be priests
The fact that many responsible Catholic women discern in themselves a vocation to the priesthood is a sign of the Holy Spirit we may not ignore.  reason women priests
  8. Cultural bias
The Church’s practice of not ordaining women as priests was based on a three-fold prejudice against women. This has affected the judgment of Church leaders.

The GREAT COMMISSION 2

The Great Commission

Great Commission

Your author still believes in the Catholic Church and is nourished by all the blessings of the Lord’s Supper. Unfortunately, his Catholic instruction was found wanting even though it represented 800 hours from Grade 4 to Grade 12. There was very little mention of the Bible and the Holy Spirit was never really explained.  He is making up for lost time with Bible study. In retrospect, this unforgivable  waste emanated from the original stance that only a priest is able to interpret the Scriptures.

In fact, Jesus Himself said that He must go so that the Teacher (Holy Spirit) could come: so a Christian has the Holy Spirit to lead him.

Historically, the Bible was kept out of the common tongues, like Greek, and only written in Latin for hundreds of years until 1611 with the introduction of the King James Bible in English, which was superior to any Catholic bible at the time.

In retrospect, the early Catholic fathers could not expect to know about the power of the gifts of the Holy Spirit  unless they pursued the  Great Commission.  Remember when Jesus gave His disciples His marching orders and with it the tools required to fulfill the directive. Here is the basis of the Great Commission:

“He (Jesus) said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation … And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons … they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”’ Mark 6:15,17,18

The author has become a Christian lay missionary over the last eight years and traveled to 15 countries.  He acknowledges the Presence of the Holy Spirit in his life with all His gifts. The author sometimes joins some of the evangelical missionaries who are involved with healing.

GREAT COMMISSION

The gifts of the Holy Spirit has become the biggest surprise. One cannot go on mission and simply wish people good tidings. The Holy Spirit provides the tools that you need to be effective, specifically the gift of healing. The biggest surprise continues even upon returning home: the healing is remarkably immediate.

The Church is a “body” with different members, all playing different roles, all essential for the overall well-being of the body. We cannot expect to see the presence of the healing of the Holy Spirit in any specific parish unless it makes a serious commitment to the Great Commission.

MEANING OF LIFE 2

meaning of life

FINDING THE MEANING OF LIFE

This is what life is about. It is being sent on a trip by a loving God, who is waiting at home for our return and is eager to watch the slides we took and hear about the friends we made. When we travel with the eyes and ears of the God who sent us, we will see wonderful sights, hear wonderful sounds, meet wonderful people … and be happy to return home.                                              HENRI NOUWEN

Meaning of Life

Most people are still searching for meaning. The idea is that inside each of us is a “God-shaped hole”–a place inside of our hearts that only God can fill. If we try to put anything else in there, it won’t fit (meaning, it won’t fill the need we have inside of our heart/soul).

“There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of every man which cannot be filled by any created thing, but only by God the Creator, made known through Jesus Christ.”                                         Blaise Pascal

You have made us for Yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in You.                                                  St. Augustine of Hippo
