MIRACLE HOUR

THE MIRACLE HOUR
THE MIRACLE HOUR

…Could you not keep watch for one hour?”  Mark 14:37

Do you have problems with commitment to prayer? How about short five minutes segments in an hour? You can also just pray at a few spokes of the wheel.

It’s wonderful to start the day with the Lord, praying in the early hours before work begins. Having a set time and place for prayer has positive benefits, whether it is morning, noon or night.

Consider the “Miracle Hour” as an intensely loving “power encounter” with your heavenly Father. The more you can personalize them, and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you spontaneously in your own words, the more meaningful it will be.

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? Psalm 42:1-2

Let us pray!

THE MIRACLE HOUR
THE MIRACLE HOUR
  1. PRAISE

People of praise are people of faith. Praise draws us into the abundant life in which God created us to live. When we praise God we acknowledge His supremacy in our lives. Praise draws us into His presence even when we don’t feel like it.

Let us praise God in all things. For the next five minutes just forget about yourself and concentrate on God. Between each segment you may wish to say the Our Father prayer or pray in the charismatic gift of tongues.

AGNOSTIC NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCES

AGNOSTIC NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCES

AGNOSTIC: a person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God or of anything beyond material phenomena; a person who claims neither faith nor disbelief in God.

AS TO THE GODS, I HAVE NO MEANS OF KNOWING EITHER THAT THEY EXIST OR DO NOT EXIST.• PROTAGORAS  410BC

Are there NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE in which an agnostic encountered God?

Dr. Atwater is an international authority on near- death states as well as a person who experienced near death. She is one of the original researchers in the field of near-death studies, having begun her work in 1978. More than 3,000 people are registered at her discussion form site, and we understand that they have one of the largest databases on near death experiences in the world.

Where arguments arise amongst various people and groups is over the interpretation of that light and any form it make take, and how to regard it.

Scientists say it is endorphins; Muslims say it is fantasy; religious fundamentalists of any “stripe” say it is Satan (Lucifer). People of faith say it is either of God or of emissaries from God.

STEALING FROM GOD

GOD WILL BLESS YOU!

“Should people cheat God? Yet you have cheated Me!

“You have cheated Me of the tithes and offerings due to Me. Bring all the tithes (and) “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in!” Try it! Put Me to the test! Malachi 3:8, 10

This refers to living consistently in the blessing of God, not just a one shot healing.

Healing is a free gift, but we must fulfill the conditions that God sets out including releasing your finances to Him. You have to give to God what is rightly His. You cannot rob from God and expect Him to consistently heal you.

So you say that this biblical reference comes only from the Old Testament. Yet, the New Testament goes even further in the Acts of the Apostle, where Jesus asks a young man to sell everything he had and follow Him.

INTELLIGENT DESIGN

INTELLIGENT DESIGN

How can natural selection even start without an original design? When you look at all of the knowledge that we have taken from scientific pursuits, and you look at it with no expectations, what you see is breathtaking. The universe is an amazing place.

So how can natural selection even start without an Original Design? Your living organism must have come to existence at some point. They reproduce now that they are complete and existent, but for them to come in existence they must have been created. Tell me anything you have ever known that came to existence from nothing — without a cause. Which came first the chicken or the egg? You can’t have one without the other, unless there is a Divine Creator. I’ll let you think on that for a while.

A person needs to study the probabilities to determine if intelligent design is involved. The chances of finding a functional protein by chance is 1/10 to the 164th power… Now to understand this gigantic number just knows that there is only 1/10 to the 80th power particles in the known universe.

INTELLIGENT DESIGN

A car that could reproduce itself would be way ahead of our technological abilities. The base idea of the argument is the complexity of organic life, is far more complex than a car or a watch, of anything man can make. It has several parts that are required to be all present at once in order to function. The idea of a car randomly coming together over time is preposterous and even more so for something that is more complex in nature.

INTELLIGENT DESIGN

Natural selection is based on emotional ideas which, even if by some wild chance turned out to be correct, are still illogical given the state of our knowledge: the First Cause. There was an entire planet to start with – a planet with at least the simplest form of pre-biotic “life” that evolution began with. Evolution did not start with nothing.

Evolution only explains the diversity of species. Mutations of organisms slowly change within their environment to be able to survive as efficiently as possible. Evolution doesn’t attempt to explain mutation and the First Cause or the Master Biological Programmer

ARE YOU AN ASPIRING THEOLOGIAN?

WHAT IS THEOLOGY?

ASPIRING THEOLOGIAN

Theology is neither a nine-to-five job nor a career. To know and speak truly of God is a vocation that requires more than academic or professional qualifications. The image you should have in mind is not the professor with a tweed jacket, but rather the disciples who dropped everything to follow Jesus. Becoming a theologian means following God’s Word where it leads with all one’s mind, heart, soul, and strength.

Theology is the study of how to speak truly of God and of all things in relation to God. But theologians can’t approach the object of their study the way biologists study living creatures or geologists the earth. God cannot be empirically examined. God is the creator of all things, not to be identified with any part of the universe or even with the universe as a whole. Speaking of God thus poses unique challenges. If God had not condescended to communicate to creatures something of his light, we would be in the dark.

BY GOD, OF GOD, TO GOD

Are you familiar with Thomas Aquinas’s definition? “Theology is taught by God, teaches of God, and leads to God.”

By God. Only God can make himself known. We’re simply children who love their father and want to know him better, who trust their father’s wisdom: And He (Jesus) said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”                                                                     Matthew 18:3

Of God. Theology is thinking hard about what God has taught about Himself and all things in relation to Himself.

To God. Theology is ultimately about cultivating godliness, in oneself and one’s community. A theologian is a certain kind of person, whose created intelligence has been illumined by the Holy Spirit.

It’s true, there is a guild of “professional” theologians—mostly academics who populate colleges, seminaries, and university divinity schools—and there are scholarly journals and awards to be had, not to mention salaries and sabbaticals.

Don’t confuse making a living as a theologian with living out the knowledge of God. If you aspire to speak of God, do so to please God, not people: “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people?” Galatians 1:10 We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts.”                                                                                              1 Thessalonian 2:4

When theology proclaims the deep mystery—God’s plan of redemption conceived “before the foundation of the world”: “For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight.”                                                                   Ephesians 1:4

It doesn’t promote cleverly devised myths, but reality. The world is passing away (even scientists agree, acknowledging that our sun will eventually burn out), but God’s Word endures forever:Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”                                                                                                                                          Matthew 24:35

Have you considered whether academic theology is your vocation rather than as a pastor or priest?

ASPIRING THEOLOGIAN

THEOLOGICAL THINKING

Let us begin with four adjectives (Trinitarian, biblical, catholic, and systematic) that qualify Christian theological thinking.

First, becoming a Christian theologian means developing a Trinitarian habit of mind.  God the Father has reconciled the world to Himself in Christ through the Spirit (what Irenaeus calls the “two hands” of God).

Second, the best way to stay focused on the subject matter of theology is to stay focused on Scripture.  It’s no coincidence that the most important figures in the history of theology—Augustine, Aquinas, Luther, Calvin, Barth—also wrote biblical commentaries.

C. S. Lewis’s distinction between looking at a beam of light and looking along it clarifies what’s at stake. Those who look at the biblical text analyze it from a critical distance. They see the text, but not necessarily what it’s talking about. In contrast, those who look along the text enter into its strange new world.

God addresses us in Scripture and requires our response. It involves reading all the books in the Old and New Testaments as parts of an overarching story. The theologian is a kind of cartographer of this new world.

The third thing you must do to acquire a theological habit of mind is to read the Word of God with and for the people of God.

The best theologians are apprentices to Scripture and to the consensual tradition of its interpretation. Catholicity is a well-known mark of the Church; it ought also to characterize theologians. Let the gospel be the center of your thinking, but let catholic tradition fill out its content and fix its circumference. Know this: evangelical and catholic are bedfellows, not rivals.

The fourth theological habit of mind involves thinking systematically  as we read the Word of God with the people of God. What unifies Scripture is the story of God’s determination to see through His purpose for creation to the end, a story in which Israel and the Church loom large, with Jesus Christ as its hinge and center.

PERSONALLY

Let’s turn to your question about the kind of person you need to become. The short answer is “wise”: a person with understanding who knows how to live out what he knows with three pairs of contrasting qualities. Continue reading ARE YOU AN ASPIRING THEOLOGIAN?

THE CHALLENGE OF AGING

EMBRACING THE CHALLENGE OF AGING

challenge aging

Waiting patiently in expectation does not necessarily get easier as we become older. On the contrary, as we grow in age we are tempted to settle down in a routine way of living and say: “Well, I have seen it all. … There is nothing new under the sun. … I am just going to take it easy and take the days as they come.”

But in this way our lives lose their creative tension. We no longer expect something really new to happen. We become cynical or self-satisfied or simply bored. We have become couch Christians.

challenge ageing

God is still writing your story.
Don’t let go of your faith because of what you have yet to see.

The challenge of aging is waiting with an ever-greater patience and an ever- stronger expectation. It is living with an eager hope. It is the trusting that through Christ “we have been admitted into God’s favor … and look forward exultantly to God’s glory”     Romans 5:2

GETTING TO KNOW JESUS CHRIST

SEEING JESUS

Seeing Jesus is what Christianity is all about. In its purist form, it is nothing more than imitating Him whom we see.

KNOW JESUS CHRISTFaith is a gift of God. Faith is the supernatural activity of God whereby He opens blind eyes, unstops deaf ears until you say, “I see it now!” The other side of the coin is that man must freely accept this gift of God.

Faith is not something that must be intellectually understood as much as something that has to be experienced and lived. The secret of faith is that we must cultivate a deep and warmly personal relationship with Jesus, so that everything one does becomes an act of love for and faithfulness for Jesus.

God’s favor is surrounding you like a shield. Every bad break, every disappointment, and every person who does you wrong is part of the plan to get you to where you are suppose to be.  God doesn’t just send the storms: He uses them to cleanse us.

It may be very difficult for us who are unloving to know God who is love. But when God touches us we are transformed and the sign of this transformation is a new ability to love.

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”                                                                                             Matthew 11:27

GET TO KNOW JESUS

The answer to the many problems involved in the life of faith is always the same: GET TO KNOW JESUS. Continue reading GETTING TO KNOW JESUS CHRIST

HARDSHIPS: A CHRISTIAN SOLUTION

Trusting God Even During Hardships

Hardships Christian solution

Ever think God was dealing harshly with you? We need to stop and ask ourselves, “What is the main purpose of a Christian life?”   It is to bring glory to God. We tend to lose sight of this when bringing glory to God involves some hardship, suffering, difficulty or problem in my life.  “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” I Corinthians 10:31

Believers sometimes falsely think that because they are Christians they should lead problem-free lives.  We may ask, “Is difficulty in my life a sign of God’s judgment?”  When we do disobey God we defy His authority and despise His holiness. But when we fail to trust God we doubt His sovereignty and question His goodness. It is always good to bow in prayer before God and ask Him if our troubles are due to some sin or disobedience in our lives. Prayer is the most tangible expression of trust in God. Because He is faithful to His promises, He will answer.”

CONCUSSION INJURY HEALED

MY INVISIBLE ILLNESS OF CONCUSSION INJURY IS VERY REAL.

Meet four members of the Concussion Injury Group, a band of advocates so determined they risk taxing their personal health, short-term, for the end game of better care for others.

Three of the four lost top career positions due to sudden, and freak brain injury. A fourth had her career path altered but is about to graduate, thanks to home-schooling and the online courses of Carleton University.

Jane Clark, 55, was a leading patent litigation lawyer. She kept company with scientists from around the globe, held senior management positions, did volunteer work in the community and sang in the office band. Five years ago, her life was forever altered by a simple slip on ice.

“I lived life large,” Clark says. “Now it’s very much about living small.”

Friday, Clark leaned heavily on the arm of her grown son, Alex, as she left the building.

Natalia Rybczynski, 46, holds a PhD in biological anthropology and anatomy from Duke University. She was a researcher at the Museum of Nature and a professor at Carleton University. Her passion was leading paleontology expeditions to the High Arctic. Along the trail she blazed, Natalia discovered new fossil mammals and was featured in scientific journals, including the journal Nature. In 2015 she was named one of Canada’s top explorers.

TO A SINFUL SOUL

Have no fear to approach Me.

Sinful Soul

“I desire trust from My creatures. Encourage souls to place great trust in My fathomless mercy. Let the weak, sinful soul have no fear to approach Me, for even if it had more sins than there are grains of sand in the world, all would be drowned in the unmeasurable depths of My mercy“.                                                                               Diary 1059

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ appeared to this simple nun, St. Faustina, bringing a wonderful message of Mercy:

sinful soul

  1. GOD’S LOVE: “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love”. 1 John 4:8. No one can know what love really means unless he first knows God through the experience of faith.
  2. God loves us as we are. The deadliest of all delusions about God is the notion that He can be angry. God who is unchangeable remains forever loving. So God continues to love, no matter what our choices are.
  3. Man’s response to God is to love our fellow man. The ability to love one another is God’s gift to us. “Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for Me.”                                                                                               Matthew 25:40
  4. God is our destiny. There is an interesting story of Florence Chadwick who almost swam the English Channel. When a fog rolled in, she said that she could have made it, but she couldn’t see the shore.
  5. God’s Providence rules the lives of man. It is the belief that we are put in contact with God each moment in order to follow His divine plan for us.

GOD’S LOVE FOR US Continue reading TO A SINFUL SOUL
