Deliverance from EVIL SPIRITS
This is the time to rebuke every spirit that hinders you from going ahead. It is time to squeeze the sacrifice in order to let the anointing flow: an anointing to develop your gifts; an anointing that will pay the way for your greatness; an anointing of deliverance! This is called Deliverance from Evil Spirits.
WHAT IS DELIVERANCE?
Deliverance is defined as “a rescue from bondage or danger.” Deliverance is often sought from evil spirits or the spirit of lust, jealousy, etc. We are told to “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith.” 1 Peter 5:8,9
All aspects of deliverance are available only through the person and work of Jesus Christ:” When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, ‘Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!’” Luke 10:17
DO YOU NEED DELIVERANCE?
To determine if you are in need of deliverance, ask yourself the following questions:
- Are you continually argumentative or contrary–usually on the verge of anger?
- Are you violating, neglecting or causing pain in a relationship?
- Are you practicing sin and can’t seem to stop?
- Do you see a pattern of issues in your family, whether disease, poverty, anger, divorce, sexual perversion or other issues?
- You are sick all the time and the doctors find nothing wrong. You could be dealing with a spirit of infirmity?
- Are you having “spiritual” encounters, including recurring dreams/nightmares that you leave you fearful?
- Do you sometimes sense that the problem isn’t you, but rather something in you?
- Are you attracted to the occult. , e.g. Ouija Boards, Seance, Fortune Telling, Horoscopes, Hypnosis etc, or Witchcraft?
- Have you experienced traumatic events that have impacted your life negatively?
- Do you keep hitting the same wall.
SEVEN OTHER SPIRITS MORE WICKED
“When an unclean spirit goes out of someone, it roams through arid regions searching for rest but, finding none, it says, ‘I shall return to my home from which I came.’
But upon returning, it finds it swept clean and put in order.
Then it goes and brings back seven other spirits more wickedly than itself who move in and dwell there and the last condition of that person is worse than the first.” Luke 11:24-26.
The house is swept, but it is not washed; the heart is not made holy. Sweeping takes off only the loose dirt, while the sin continues to fester or injure the sinner.
The wicked spirits enter through a gap or a foothold, which is created by any number of situations, including trauma, abuse, fear, heartbreak and even curses. These situations develop feelings of hatred, anger and unforgiveness and before long these footholds become strongholds.
“’In your anger do not sin’: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.” Ephesians 4:26-27
Sin takes root in our lives. Sometimes there are deep root symptoms as mentioned earlier. This can lead to habitual sin and a depressing feeling that “I can’t do anything about it.”
Sometimes the gap is open to innocent souls because of generational sins, disorders or defects that arrive from the sins of one’s forefathers going back to as far as four generations.
Dabbling in the occult or superstitious beliefs that is not of Jesus Christ is extremely dangerous. These evil spirits tend to be very strong.
A CLEAN HEART
In speaking of the cleansing of the house in our passage, Jesus refers to the self-cleansing of one’s heart, which is ineffective because it lacks the necessary power to maintain itself. Whether it is trying harder or doing better, it allows us to think we have control. The problem is that we cannot keep control. You may think that being nicer will help. You may try to will yourself off of addictions, but you will come to discover that what you need is a clean heart and only Christ can cleanse your heart.
This implies that there is the need for a cleansing by an external source. The unclean spirit cannot say, “I will return to my house” because it now belongs to Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 7:25 promises us that Jesus’ salvation is effective when it says, “Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them.” “Seek to work harder, not in your own power, but in “all [God’s] energy that He powerfully works within [you]” Colossians 1:2
So the evil influences dwell in a person; there they work, there they rule. The point is that driving out an evil spirit is only half the job. A strong protection must be invited in to prevent the evil spirit from coming back and bringing his friends of depression, addiction, etc.
Don’t let the devil find your house unoccupied. Pursue what brings life:”that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God”. Ephesians 3:19 It is important that your shield be up with prayer and support from a bible-oriented worship community.
THE ANOINTING OIL
The anointing oil represents for the anointing we cannot see with our eyes. It is a symbol representing the invisible anointing of God. To be in receipt of the true anointing in the oil however, you must squeeze something out of it. If you want the anointing in the oil, you must give your ‘fat’. In order for God to bring out the real you from the being which is surrounded by ‘fat’, He must squeeze out the true greatness that resides deep inside of you! Be in receipt of the anointing power of God, for in your darkest moments & your deepest despair, the anointing dictates that God will do something for you!
Squeeze Something & Out Of It The Anointing Will Come
In 2 Kings 3, the Israelites wanted to go to war against a rebellious king. They needed anointing to overcome, subdue & destroy the rebellious king in their lives. To acquire the anointing, you must squeeze something to acquire strength, to get what you want & need. In their attempts to overcome the rebellious king, the Israelites encountered a period of famine & distress, disappointment & despair.
Can you recall a time when situations were so bad that you just needed to seek God?
The people were told that the only way they could overcome the enemy was to take the route through the wilderness – a place of nothingness. Into this they endeavoured, seeking God, looking to God for the strength & capability to achieve their goal. In other words, they went through a route of prayer & fasting in order to gain their breakthrough. But this wasn’t easy.
