BIBLE AS HISTORY

AMAZING BIBLE HISTORY 2

 OLD TESTAMENT HISTORY

God gradually reveals Himself as what we need to know. He does this by selecting one small tribe out of all the nations on earth. He has chosen them to be His own people. He has given them a land, a law and temple in which they are to worship Him. They are to learn who He is and how to live in communion with Him. Of course, they fail Him repeatedly and the BIBLE history of the Old Testament is filled with stories of these failures. Yet, He continually refashions the relationship and rebuilds this communion. They eventually begin to see more clearly His awesome faithfulness and love.

GOD ACTS IN HISTORY TO ATTAIN HIS PURPOSE.

All of the sacred history of Israel occurs in the full history of the ancient world. This is not a fairy tale: God acts in history and space to attain His purpose. The Jewish people had lived under a succession of foreign empires for centuries. The Jews finally realized that their little kingdom would never be restored without God and His graces. Ironically the Jews are still waiting for God to reveal Himself.

The most interesting development in the history of the Bible is observing how God has protected and guided the small kingdom of Judea starting from 2000 BC. He knew that Jesus Christ was to be born in a small town in Bethlehem in 4 BC.  In Micah 5:2 (750-686 BC), there is a prophecy that reveals that Bethlehem would be the birthplace of the Messiah: “But you, Bethlehem, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”

After 2000 years, the Bible has been translated into 1120 languages and dialects. We look at the Bible as a historical document, and evaluate its validity from unbiased grounds. Many of the people, places, and things mentioned in the Bible can indeed be verified 100% through modern day archeology.

Who ever heard of the Philistines, the Assyrians, the Medes or the Seleucids, and where do we read about the great defeat of Pharaoh’s army in the annals of Ancient Egypt?

BIBLE AS HISTORY

About 1050 BC, Israel’s very existence was threatened. It was on the verge of losing all the fruits of its conquests and all the work of colonization, which had gone on for almost 200 years. It was on the verge of falling under the yoke of the Philistines and facing hopeless slavery. Saul used guerrilla warfare with surprise attacks and hunted the Philistine occupation out of its area. Eventually Israel became an empire from the time of David to Solomon.

When Solomon died in 926 BC, the dream of Israel as a great power was buried with him forever, with the emergence of Assyria. The fact that Assyria had a succession of weak kings allowed both Israel and Judah some respite and peace reigned until 745 BC. When a brutal Assyrian tyrant attacked, Israel submitted voluntarily with tribute of silver until events took their disastrous course. Surely that would mean the fall of the walls of Jerusalem and the seizing of the capital, yet Jerusalem had escaped.

A wild horde burst out of the Caucasus into the Fertile Crescent and inundating the Assyrian empire. Yet within ten years the Asiatic horsemen had disappeared like an evil apparition. Then the Medes and the Neo-Babylonians bore down on the Assyrians on two fronts.

The Fertile Crescent could breathe again. The King Josiah (639- 609) banned the practice of foreign religions in Jerusalem. The little army of Judah marched against the far superior Egyptian force, with the tragic ending at Megiddo. Soon afterwards, Egypt retreated.

 THE BABYLONIAN EXILE

The King of Babylon came against the city of Jerusalem and carried away its king and entourage to Babylon. Finally the whole of the lands of Judah was subdued except for Jerusalem.  Eventually Jerusalem was given over to plunder. Once more, in 587 BC, part of the population was deported to Babylon. The land of Judah became a Babylon province. “I, declares the Lord … will lay waste the towns of Judah so no one can live there.” Jeremiah 34:22

Here is where we might question God’s wisdom.  The Babylonian exile served a real purpose. Babylon was a very advance commercial metropolis and it here where Jewish families learned important banking and trades that they would not have learned in Judah. In addition, the Jewish population in Babylon did not intermarry, which may have happened had they stayed in Judah.

BIBLE HISTORY

A new era began with the Persian’s rise to power in 550 BC. Cyrus conquered Media and his way became clear to overtake Babylon in 539 BC.

Cyrus allowed 42,000 males, not including families and servants, to return after many years (537 BC).  They came back to their homeland 800 miles away and set up a theocracy.

In the fourth century B.C., the center of political power shifted to the Greeks because of Alexander the Great who conquered the King of Persia in 333 BC. The Greeks plundered and desecrated the Temple in Jerusalem. They also sent in their tax collectors. In past history, Israel had been spared any of the horrors of war, but this time it received a blow to crush and destroy the faith of Israel in favor of the worship of Zeus.

“But many in Israel stood firm…They chose to die rather than to be defiled by food or to profane the holy covenant; and they did die.”      1 Maccabees 1:62-63 The Maccabees waged bitter guerrilla warfare from their secret haunts in the mountains. Luckily, during this time, the Torah was translated into Greek, a very important step for Western Civilization.

BIBLE HISTORY

The Seleucid of Antioch forced their way south toward Judah. As time went on the Seleucids became less and less serious adversaries. They lacked the strength to cope with the Maccabees and Rome.

PROPAGATION of CHRISTIANITY from ROME

In the end, Roman legions entered Jerusalem in 63 BC and Judah became a Roman province. The political independence of Israel came to an abrupt end. Rome became very important for the propagation of Christianity eventually throughout the world as it was known then.

THE SOCIAL WELFARE SAFETY NET

Historically, the Christian (Catholic) Church provided social welfare  long before any government assistance.  When there was no safe place of the sick to get well, the Church built hospitals. When society received little education, the Church made it available. When the poor were hungry or naked or shamed by society, the Church fed and clothed them.

CHRISTIANITY and RISE of WESTERN CULTURE

ASTONISHING PREDICTIONS

God divinely inspired the BIBLE . How do we know? Each of eight accurate predictions  show a high probability mathematically. The probability of one individual fulfilling eight prophecies have odds of 1 in 10 17  (1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000). Jesus Christ fulfilled all prophecies, therefore the Bible MUST BE TRUE.

DIVINE OR HUMAN CALIPHS

The Old Testament indicates another 40 astonishing predictions.

CHINA DECEASED RELATIVES

Christianity experiences stunning growth—from approximately 3.8 million adherents in China in 1956 to an estimated 87 to 100 million Christians today.

CHINA AND THE HOLY SPIRIT

In the end, one Christian conversion will benefit the whole family.  The gifts of the Holy Spirit of healing and deliverance will help the whole family. A prayer of deliverance of evil spirits will leave any member of the family with a complete sense of peace immediately. A prayer of healing from a Christian disciple produces 80% healing. The remaining healing comes from continued prayer of praise and thanksgiving until all the healing is complete. This healing comes from the Holy Spirit through the power in the Name of Jesus Christ.  No other god or deity or doctor uses this power. This proves the TRUTH OF CHRISTIANITY.

Christianity and Hinduism Differences

BILLIONS OF CHRISTIANS CAN’ T ALL BE WRONG!

Christianity is not a philosophy, but it is  a relationship with God, your Creator,  in Christ TODAY. It is not knowledge of abstract principles.  How do we know this? Healing takes place TODAY in the Name of Jesus Christ.

GOD’S HEALING ASSURED 2

 HEALING?

Many Christian disciples use the gift of healing.  They also use deliverance to deliver away evil spirits influencing people. These evil spirits cause depression, addictions and illness through all forms of stress.  Only the Name of Jesus Christ makes healing and deliverance possible.Chinese Religion God

AN EXPERIMENT OF GOD’S TOUCH 2

HOW IS JESUS STILL ALIVE TODAY?

Jesus is alive today! He heals today (through His followers) and in many cases it is realized immediately. How else can you explain the explosion of Christianity, the world’s largest religion, on earth: 2.2 billion adherents, nearly a third (31 percent) of all 6.9 billion people on Earth.

Christians know and feel His Presence; they communicate with Him personally; Christian prayers are always answered.

This author has been given the Gift of Healing only because he is a Christian Lay Missionary, who travels  two to three places every year. On his last trip to Columbia he successfully transferred his Gift to his Spanish translators, who were able to heal as he did. He has healed Muslims to their great surprise.

He also delivers away evil spirits along with their healing. All those who are delivered from evil spirits feel a complete physical  sense of peace.

DREAMS AND VISIONS

God can give a message to those non-Christians to change their heart.  God knows faith will be developed eventually. God will come to you in the form of dreams or visions. So be sensitive to any dreams or visions, when you ask God for it earnestly.

PROOF OF HEAVEN 2

Is the BIBLE true?

HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED HOW TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN?

god proof

  • Christians don’t shout, “I live a clean life!” Christians whisper “I feel  lost, but now God found me and God forgives me.”
  • Christians don’t speak with pride. They confess that they stumble and need Christ to be their guide.
  • Christians don’t say,” I’m strong.” They say they try to be strong because they need strength.
  • Christians don’t brag about success, but they admit that they fail and they need God to clean the mess.
  • Christians don’t claim to be perfect, but God still believes in them.
  • Christians still feel the sting of pain. They have their share of headaches but they still call upon His Name.
  • Christians are not holier than others. They are simple sinners who receive God’s unbelievable Grace.

Christianity on a Table Napkin:

Deliverance EVIL SPIRITS

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”                                                                                                                                     Romans 10:9

The real Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. He was send by God to come to the earth in the body of a human being. That was, so that He could suffer in the flesh, and take all our sins upon Himself and die in our place. He rose from the dead and lives to pray for us daily.
He is the Savior – The angel announced to Mary; …and you shall call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins.     Matthew 1:21  It means He has the power to free us, save us and deliver us from sin. He is merciful and has the power to forgive. He brings good news to the poor, heals the heart-broken, announce freedom to all captives, pardons all prisoners. He comforts mourners. He has healing in His hands.
To receive Jesus as your Savior… SAY:

Lord Jesus, You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Please hear me today and help me! I want to receive You as my Lord and Savior. Be Lord of my life!  Lord Jesus, I believe that You died for me and that God raised You from the dead. Forgive me all my sins and take all my sins away. Come into my heart and be my Savior and Lord, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Amen
Your life will begin to change in an amazing way. Without expecting  anything, be sensitive to any dreams or visions.

God the Father will wipe every tear from our eyes, and there shall be no more death or mourning, crying out or pain. We will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is The Holy Spirit will have made all things new. Eternal joy will begin.  “For the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is His name.”                                                     Luke 1: 49

Are we not like Barabbas who was justly condemned for murder, but saved by the innocent Jesus on the cross? Are we not like the adulterous woman, deserving of death by stoning, to whom Jesus says, “I do not condemn you”?  And Jesus saved them both. In fact, Jesus came to earth specifically to look for and save those who were lost, like you.

“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool”.                                       Isaiah 1:18

You may need some counseling with a pastor, priest or competent Christian worker, who will introduce you to a Short Course on Who is Jesus? Start by reading a short biography of Jesus in  the Gospel of Luke. Read several verses before going to bed and read the same verse upon arising.  He will defend you from attacks of the enemy when you ask Him.
